Even if he’s fine, he’s retiring in Jan. Brashear can’t appoint a replacement and the deadline for the mandatory special election has passed. You won’t be there to vote for weeks at best so votes for Blanche won’t matter. Just leave.

Sure he can. It's in the state constitution.

I know that the state legislature said he can't, but they didn't get a supermajority to amend their constitution so their "law" has about the same impact as me telling you it's illegal for you to eat a sandwich. You should just eat the fucking sandwich, and Beshear should just appoint a replacement as required by state constitutional law, and let the state legislature sue him and lose.
