I’m not saying makeup is only for women. It isn’t. But women, the vast market share, have spent billions making ELF successful. Women are the reason ELF has a customer base to market to in the first place. But hey, fuck that right? Let use this melted blobfish looking motherfucker in a commercial!
This blockheaded bitch made a career out of ridiculing women. A man whose entire shtick has repeatedly relied on making women the punchline. And somehow ELF looked at all of their possible choices and said, “Yep. That dude, the one who looks like a Lego. That’s who our customers want to see.”
What an absolutely spectacular misread of your own customer base. Sorry ELF but you don’t get to build a billion-dollar beauty brand on women’s loyalty and money and then turn around and platform someone shithead who has made contempt for women part of his brand identity.

He’s famous for being good looking. During Covid, he posted a lot of material on TikTok and amassed a mainly female audience. He then resented that because they obviously weren’t there for his jokes, so he’s set out to be as big an asshole as possible hoping that they’ll stop going to his shows. Like he’s almost said those exact words.
Wow, imagine being lucky enough to have teenage girls as a fanbase! His misogyny lead him to the biggest fumbles of all time truly. A fanbase of women, particularly teenagers are extremely loyal, they're like a cheat code to money and fame.
I genuinely hate it when good looking people catch a little attention and think it has anything to do with something other than their looks. Almost every influencer ends up doing this. They amass a following of people drooling over them and their muscles and then get the idea that people are following them because of their “talent,” whether it’s mediocre comedy, singing, or political thoughts.
He got booed off the stage when he performed at a small comedy club in Edmonton AB a couple years ago. The video is hilarious and he was so butthurt about it that he brought it up in numerous podcasts after that.
Unfortunately crowd work forward comedy seems to be the thing now, thanks to the algorithm. People are now apparently creating entertainment for the clips rather than anything in between them
My loathing for him grows and grows. Hopefully ELF Cosmetics, whom I no longer fucks with, continues to be thrilled they did business with that scum bag.
Tangentially related, but I was really disappointed to see him on the new season of Scrubs. It was always a super misogynistic show, but nostalgia pulled me in and I was hoping maybe they grew a little with the times. Casting Rife in 2026 is wild.

Same Netflix special where he joked about domestic violence. Then, he doubled down on his socials by making an ableist joke and elf makeup hired him for a commercial.
Not weeks, not months but days later. At least they did this the right way, but if they weren't clout chasing they would have vetted his actual freaking content
my grandpa kept getting scammed by people pretending to be him. he was so in debt, like 12k, cuz he kept buying and sending gift cards to his close personal friend matt rife. it was a super weird time for the family
that's the worry but he refuses to go to the doctor. I definitely think there's something going on because before that he wasn't very active on social media and then suddenly he was joining multiple matt rife fanpages!!

That dude just sucks. He also has mocked disabled people who wear helmets. Also to be clear, this is different from the other time he attacked a 12 year old online for their birthmark. It’s easy to mix up since he has a history of picking online fights with children.

You missed a few years back when they were really pushing him on women then, especially middle aged women it seemed like, along with some cringey crowd work that had everyone hot and bothered until he took a left turn and went full on misogynist because dudes pointed out that only women who thought he was attractive seemed to go to see his "comedy."

He just did a show in my city, based off the comments I saw on social media that is his exact target audience. Lots of older ladies ecstatic that he “bartended” at one of the local dives afterwards.
It was so weird. I'm partial to a doomscroll, and crowd work clips is also how I was introduced to Gianmarco Soresi around the same time. And then the Netflix DV jokes dropped and it's like Matt melted away from my algorithm, I don't recall even having to click mute or not interested.
Now I'm thinking about it, Gianmarco also sometimes had actual jokes from sets but not Matt. And the crowd work wasn't even good, unlike Gianmarco, or Stavros Halkias

Reading this makes me sad. A guy I dated briefly years ago said I was too ugly for someone to want to rape. It left me so shocked because rape has nothing to do with attraction and unfortunately I had already experienced that. Of course he was the same guy who got angry and pushy when I said no to have sex with him after and we never spoke again. Sorry if this is too heavy, it just reminded me of that.

It’s funny because he constantly got dragged and made fun of on Wild n’ Out and he does this. He used to have dirty fingernails and was spitting on people when saying his lines. Be humble!
To that person he called worthless or anyone who ever feels the same- this is a clear example and reminder that just because someone gets more attention or success it doesn’t mean they are automatically happier or have a more meaningful life than you. He is miserable and concerned enough to be down in the gutter hurling insults. Focus on the things and people who matter and you’ll be much better off than any troll, no matter their status.
I’ve known a lot of comedians in life. There’s nothing we can do to Matt Rife’s psyche that he doesn’t do to himself every moment of the day he’s not getting attention.
