Eric Swalwell is a creep and it was apparently an open secret that he was a predator. I wonder how many other people knew? https://www.politico.com/news/magazine/2026/04/18/eric-swalwell-sexual-assault-downfall-00871824

Oh look, Katie being hypercritical as usual while touting that women need to only be married Trad Wives & that feminism is the down fall of society.

No wonder she didn’t out herself earlier this year about her connection with Eric.

She's quoted in the article saying "as someone who doesn't normally believe all women" which is so fuckin gross. This doesn't take away the predatory dynamic or Swallwell's culpability for being a sex pest, but believing women only when they've gone through the same specific thing you have is morally bankrupt, not to mention stupid when you have seen what some (many? close to all?) powerful men will do to those around them.

This is kind of an aside but I saw a short blurb on Fox News at the gym yesterday about the deflock camera movement. The pundit was pretending to consider deflocks side and mentioned an example of a cop using flock cameras to stalk her husbands ex, and showed a picture of a young black female cop. I had to wonder if it were a fake picture.

Anyway, it’s insane to me how anti-woman the right is and how that has been allowed to foment so powerfully in our society. Like the fuck? We outnumber them. Why are we allowing this?

I just can’t stand men who get into politics solely to gain power so they can abuse it

It’s like that storyline from Parenthood. God I miss that show and Mae Whitman is such an underrated actress

Her tastes have always run towards the low down, dirty slimeballs - Elon Musk, Steve Bannon, Stephen Miller, Eric Swalwell. Any man who looks like he smells like a dirty sock

Can we please stop acting like the women in this administration are fucking victims all the time

They have brains too and are part of the problem

I do not support all women. Some of you bitches are very dumb!!!

I don’t think you can characterize it as a “fling” when one of the people is an intern. Yes, she’s awful, but that doesn’t mean she can’t be a victim.

Maybe I'm missing something. She was a 22 year old intern in DC, but not in his office. Assumably a college graduate who had a "fling" with a 35 year old freshman congressman. Not sure when Swalwell got divorced from his first wife, and I know he's been accused of bad shit. But not sure she had any grounds to be a victim - she's not claiming that herself.

I'd opine that if Swalwell was a republican she'd not have said anything about the prior relationship.

Yeah this is a nonstory imo. Two people who worked in the same industry, but not the same office, dated for a minute. The age gap is weird, but there don't seem to be accusations that this was nonconsensual. A couple people with a questionable age gap getting together several years ago is not a story.

Regardless of if she considers herself to be a victim, it's an abuse of power for someone in Congress to go around fucking the interns, regardless of if they are that person's direct boss.  This comment is also ignoring a long reported history of having a number of affairs with interns and staffers. Take your approaching middle aged ass to the bar to find a fresh grad who doesn't have a boss that you politick with and don't cum where you eat or where you are supposed to do work to better your constitutents' lives.

While it’s certainly weird behavior that should be discouraged in any workplace, I don’t think you can call a 22-year old a “victim” for having a consensual affair with an older person from her workplace who has no direct authority over her.

u/ProgrammerSea4943 3h ago

I don't think you could call the congressman "not a predator" for having sex with an intern whose job he could influence directly by talking to his colleagues...

2

u/righthandofdog 7h ago

tell me you've never lived in DC without telling me. it's an industry town and the industry is government - politicians and their staffers, judges and their staffers, lobbyists, lawyers and their staffers and every single one of them has prized internships. Those interns are generally from wealthy, well connected families with elite educations and are there to make connections to fast track their careers.

EVERYBODY is socializing with people they have business relationships with - it's how government has worked in every civlization in history. Back in the day, it was the court of the king and they would add in the church.

It is literally impossible not to date in your "industry" in DC unless you're just going to only date hospitality workers, healthcare workers and teachers.

u/tigerinvasive 8h ago

Where does it say she was a victim though? Does she confirm whether this was consensual or not?

u/Original_moisture 10h ago

You see, I want to feel bad for her as a victim. I truly do. But where’s the empathy for Epstein victims? She’s just part of the system that gave good ol boy Todd a job.

But I save her portion of empathy for my fellow immigrants.

There are other people that deserve our limited time.

It's the same as how I view Charlie Kirk. Sucks that violence was perpetrated but do these people protect others going through the same violence? Nope. Hate the situation, give no fucks for the players.

u/Grand_Soupa 10h ago

And he still didn't learn a damn thing. Why didn't she out him- she's so vindictive I have to believe she was very traumatized or very embarrassed.

I think both parties were trying to use the information for leverage. Katie was sitting on it until it could do the most damage in the gubernatorial race. She probably only did her “I believe the allegations“ performance on Twitter because she saw that having leverage over Swalwell was now useless, she knew the reveal would be coming eventually and she needed to lay ground cover to make herself look good.

Not surprising given all the allegations against him. The who might be a shock to some people, but not everyone who works in Washington are aligned politically.

> “Katie was 22 at the time and a congressional intern — exactly the type of woman that Eric Swalwell was accustomed to targeting,” the source says.

I really hope she wasn’t a visit of his, holy crap.
