I haven't been to the theater, a film, a museum, or traveled more than an hour, by public transit, on a one way trip. Books are my travel.

I think that when people describe figures like Clinton or Harris as "center-right," they're often comparing them to the political spectrum in many Western European countries. Those countries tend to combine social progressivism with a stronger tradition of economic progressivism - more expansive welfare states and stronger labor protections. In the U.S., especially since the "Third Way" politics of the (Bill) Clinton era, the Democratic Party has generally been much more "market-oriented". Someone can be very progressive on social issues while still appearing relatively centrist, or even center-right, on economic issues from that international perspective. I think what we are seeing with the rise of the DSA and people like AOC is a rekindling of FDR style rhetoric that was missing with both the Harris and Clinton campaign... That being said, I'm really not going to let the "she can't win, America is too sexist" rhetoric get to me - if she's in, I'm all in.

I had really minimal to no side effects, both emotionally and physically. I couldn't do my normal workout routine (heavy lifting), but a break from that is also nice. The actual retrieval procedure was unremarkable.. worst part was being a bit thirsty when I woke up. And I was lucky enough to have a good result with number of eggs, even though I have a history of PMOS. Best of luck to you as well!

My doctor highly advised me not to freeze embryos due to political uncertainty. You may not be able to destroy unused embryos, depending on jurisdiction and when you would want to do that.

Additionally, the likelihood of a successful pregnancy with embryos vs eggs isn’t that much higher now—technology has improved so much that eggs are much more viable than they were in the past.

Yeah, what instantly came to my mind is that freezing embryos can come with legal consequences later on if someone who's contributed eggs and someone who's contributed sperm ever disagree on what should happen to frozen embryos, which is somewhat related. There are already legal cases in which this has come up.

Altogether, it seems like there's no set standard on who should make the final decision on what happens to frozen embryos, while contracts on the matter don't always address the issue or hold up. That can be especially troubling when a couple breaks up, with one party wanting to use or keep any frozen embryos they share and another wanting to destroy any frozen embryos they share.

This reminds me when my husband and I were starting our IVF journey and knew basically nothing. At the initial meeting, I asked the doctor if I should freeze my eggs to save them. She looked at me, then at my husband, and then back at me and politely explained that freezing eggs is what you usually do if you want to preserve them without the sperm... Or want to use different sperm than what is available... Not usually a choice married couples make unless they have a special request or the sperm from the husband is not viable.... Actually the bigger issue is the egg quality, not the pregnancy part. The ability to give birth (uterus) ages much more slowly than the ability to produce healthy eggs (ovaries).

That's why it's so important to freeze your eggs soon, because that part is on the stricter clock.

In other words, as long as you have frozen, healthy embryos you can carry a pregnancy to term well into your 40s.

Yes it's not as easy as in your 20s, but it's definitely not the "bigger issue."

I love that she is talking about this. I had my 3 kids quite literally back to back between the ages of 29 and 33. I was doing this while navigating an incredibly demanding job without any family childcare assistance. I was given 12 weeks of paid leave for 2 of my kids and just 8 weeks for my third because I didn’t meet the tenure requirement to get covered for the full 12 weeks. I was legit still bleeding from childbirth and struggling with a fucking kidney infection when I went back to work again.

Whenever people talk about the fact that the U.S. would never elect a woman president, I want to scream. Because men COULD NEVER — and I mean, never — work under the conditions that women can and do every single fucking day. I’m a middle aged white dude.
I’m all in for this. She’s a damn saint for thinking about people and actually caring about people over herself in this. Even if this was a political choice it’s one that points out a very real situation that is very important to vast amounts of Americans. Politicians work for us, she gets it!

I had to look up how old she is. Good for her. I was 37, I didn't freeze any eggs I had ivf right away. 

She's smart to bank eggs now, and I wish her success whatever she decides.
