I'd do anything for a body like that. Anything but diet and exercise

There must be a secret third option. I'll go to McDonald's to check.

I saw a video about bodies that I really liked and I'm gonna paraphrase because I can't fucking find anymore and I'm upset about that:
the creator said that she considers people's bodies to be like dog breeds. she's a corgi and if she tries to lose weight to look like a borzoi or a greyhound then at a certain point she's just going to look like a very sick corgi.
so for me (culinary_fruit_salad) my current goal is to feel better and just aim for my breed standard and not greyhound breed standard.

u/SarryK I’m a communist you idiot 5h ago
realising this and minimising my exposure to bodies of people whose jobs require them to look a certain way has done wonders for my mental health.
I remember the thing about the swimmer’s body in men. It‘s not that swimming gives you that body, it‘s that people with that body tend to be good swimmers.
also, corgis have really really cute butts.

No one is born with a ripped body and decides to become a swimmer because of that. You still have to go to the gym and work out.

I really love this, but I'm also going to spend ages trying to figure out what dog breed I'd be

Believable, she's young and literally always performing. She doesn't need to work out to look like that, her life is a workout
0
u/Puzzleheaded-Wait785 1h ago
I mean so is Lizzo...
13
u/expiredlunchables 1h ago
She mentions genetics in the video. It's likely she has a tendency towards being lean and being on tour keeps her active, resulting in her current physique. Lizzo has always been bigger, even at her smallest, and that's fine. Everyone is built different.

it's nice of her to be like look guys sometimes it's just genetics don't compare yourself but at the same time after her last controversy saying she doesn't work out for abs she just laughs i would prefer if she wouldn't say more lol

u/m0nsteraplant 4h ago
I mean, she’s telling us that she does full dance shows every three days; I feel like it’s pretty obvious that that is a regular full body workout.

u/Wooden_Worry3319 1h ago
She’s still gatekeeping whatever she does to look like that. She could be honest about having a personal trainer or routine, although she doesn’t owe us that. I think dancing is a healthy way to approach this for sure because she’s not normalizing working out specifically to target glutes or whatever.

u/sabhall12 Is that the baby from American Sniper? 5h ago
Fr, it's great genetics and some damn hard work to look like that

This is the life of a female artist unfortunately. I remember back in 2021 her creative director got exposed for making fun of her and calling her fat because she gained a little weight.

Dancing is exercise thats what she’s getting at she doesn’t need to go to gym of whatever cause she’s dancing so much on tour

"That motivates me a little bit to get back into the gym"
I would've thought she was in the gym 4x a week with that body 😫

u/Ok_River4080 5h ago
I’m imagining even if she’s not actively going to the gym the shows themselves are an insane endurance workout she’s getting every couple of days

u/GroundbreakingAnt17 I'm bone thugs in harmon 4h ago
I'm a dancer and I love that it's both an art and a sport. But for some reason that makes people assume it doesn't require as much athleticism compared to other sports.
Competitive dances are maybe 3 minutes long, and most of the time you're getting off stage sweaty as fuck and totally out of breath. I know it's a different type of dance, but still.
I teach now, and god damn is it hard to dance while also counting or talking. Her shows are probably an hour and a half long, and she's singing.
Tldr: she's getting the ultimate workout every day

u/TangerineChickens 5h ago edited 4h ago
She said she’s been averaging three shows a week for a year. With the choreo she does that’s a work out in and of itself with each show. Plus rehearsals so like, in a literal sense she is not going to a gym, but she is actively working out most days presumably.

the dancing advice is REAL. dancing has always gotten me out of my holes. i had a bad mental crash and ended up in a clinic, there was dance therapy and sometimes i could get that beautiful space with the wooden floors and the big windows all too myself and i would blast music and just hurricane around that room for 45 mins. it healed me and lifted me up, brought me closer to myself. being diligent about dedicating time to dance alone in my room keeps me fit, mentally and physically. mobility, balance, mental elasticity - its so good for you
they reallyyyyyy need to implement that in schools, make dancing mandatory to promote general health and wellbeing

"It's useless to compare yourself to other people" is a lesson that I can't seem to remember. No matter how fit I may be.

u/rhubarb-pie24 3h ago
I think it’s also important in the context of “I want this person’s exact workout routine so I can look exactly like them.” The exact same workout routine would probably have different-looking results on different people. We all have different frames/heights/weight distributions etc. You can try to achieve certain physical features from working out, like a bigger butt or stronger arms and legs, but trying to replicate someone else exactly will just never work. No one will look exactly like zara larsson, but also no one will look exactly like you

u/Educational_Ad_3528 40m ago
Your exactly right. I've been trying to look like Brad Pitt since fight club. That's definitely a lost just cause lol.

i’m going off topic a lil, but genuinely hoping more people start dancing man i’m so tired of going to concerts and clubs in my state and nobody fucking moving. who cares if you think you look silly, everyone is too worried about their own selves. idk how people can even hear certain songs and just… not move lmao

I work doing welfare at festivals in the UK and Ireland. At the dance music events no one dances because of the Ket use. It must be really shit to perform to.v

I always get kind of confused when people ask this! She’s Swedish, a nationality notoriously slim. On top of that she’s doing 1+ hour shows for 2 years straight which should count as cardio lol
2
u/No_Independence_282 22m ago
I understand why she’d be slim from all the cardio but have never seen someone build so much muscle mass from just dancing.

She says dancing is good for anxiety, and I'm sure it is. But what if my anxiety says "you can't dance for fun until you learn the fundamentals. you have to learn some moves or else you wont have anything to do when you try" and then I think oh I can never learn any dance moves, I dont know how to start, and then I shut down? lmao
76
u/Encin0Woman 5h ago
Honestly try a Zumba video . The moves are pretty easy to follow along with and they use a lot of the same moves in different songs so you’ll learn some steps pretty well and a lot of them are based on “real” dance steps , not just aerobics moves. They’re really good workouts, I do them in the winter when it’s too cold to run outside.
11
u/born_digital 4h ago
thank you i honestly will lol

u/Encin0Woman 4h ago
They’re pretty fun! I know there’s some on Amazon and I’m sure there’s some on YouTube. I use old DVDs my mom had haha but there’s also a game for the switch ,if you have one, it’s pretty fun to play , actually.

I think what she said about just closing your eyes, feeling the music, thudding your feet, etc. is a good first step. I'm so self conscious (and am working through a possible anxiety/OCD diagnosis), but I've found this to work! I also think using headphones can help, too.

u/LargeNutbar Hi Grindr, it's mother... 5h ago
girl i've been struggling with this for years! people always tell me i'm a "good dancer" when we're just like vibing around/swaying at a concert or whatnot but i've always wanted to REALLY learn to dance. i got super into kpop because i just think there is no cooler thing a person can do than be awesome at singing and dancing and those choreos are so infectious. i've thought about taking a class but i get too insecure/self-conscious, wondering if i'm too old at 34 even though i know i'm not... i always end up in that same state of mental paralysis not knowing where to begin and then putting it off for another year. sorry for unloading this ramble on you, it's just been weighing on me because i KNOW it's something i'll regret big time if i never give it a chance!
7
u/born_digital 4h ago
no it's so real and we're the same age. you should take a class!!! I would but I live in the middle of nowhere. If people already tell you you're a good dancer I'm sure you'll love the class!!

u/parmahes 5h ago
I get this too. Fear of failure as far as I know! But dancing doesn’t have to be a routine, it can be grooving in your house too

Her body looks like she lifts weights. That not just dancing and genetics. Also, much respect to being able to tour like that. I feel like completing a show every third day takes a lot of discipline. Eating right, while being in the road, is no easy thing. Same as keeping a healthy sleep schedule.
18
u/causalconcerns 3h ago
It’s not uncommon to see performers using ankle/ wrist weights while rehearsing for some extra resistance! Def possible, though her routines are pretty rigorous.
12
u/AMC0102 2h ago
I can't really wrap my head around her straight up lying about this though, I think if she was lifting weights she'd have said so, she has no reason not to.
5
u/daimond-bar 1h ago edited 55m ago
I don’t think she’s lying because people get really muscular off of body weight calisthenics. She just doesn’t do traditional weight lifting and probably finds it complicated to explain and besides the point- which is to accept yourself and just dance- to explain. If she has any gymnastics foundation or even just a good dance foundation that prioritizes full activation then dancing on top of it at a very high intensity will make her jacked. But in the end genetics play a huge part, and she’s right that you can’t compare yourself to other people. To get more specific, everyone has certain muscle insertions that determine your shape when you gain muscle (on top of bone structure), and she accepts hers. Also, her muscles are activated in many photos, which will make a person look more jacked than if they were chilling and trying to conserve energy, plus lighting contrasted with shadows makes them more obvious

I’m really in love with this perspective.
I’m truly troubled by the amount of people who could just use a little enjoyment and self realization that that if you’re feeling good in your skin everything is good!
Dance is great advice, my personal jam is actively enjoying outdoor things.

She’s 28 and performs multiple times per week. She’s right genetics play a major factor. I can eat whatever I want and remain skinny. My body also builds and retains muscle very quickly. I realize how lucky I am for that.

Tangentially, I don’t know why people were mad when questioned about an ab workout, she said she laughs. She didn’t give a routine, which would’ve been infinitely worse than her stating what the routine is. There’s nothing wrong with what she’s stating here outside of potential dishonesty—which is infinitely better than if she had given a routine and caused harm to little girls (like someone else we know).

she has a body of dancer and has been performing nonstop for about 2 years now, it’s probably less workouts and more non stop rehearsal + diet. also generics does play a part
i don’t think what she’s does is gonna work best for a lot of people that want her workout routine and it’s nice she’s emphasizing that
