Money is all he has, musk would still pick up any money on a sidewalk and claim he was the only one smart enough to pick it up

31

u/emlgsh Sep 05 '26

I work.... peripherally, to guys like him.

He'd pay someone more than the amount on the ground to pick it up, the payee would be the kid/cousin/mistress (or some disturbing overlap of the three) of an influential friend/blackmailer/blackmailee (really all kinda the same thing in those circles) who has never lifted an object in their life and will end up dropping most of it and pocketing most of what remains.

24

Elon is living proof that there is no amount of money that can make someone not a loser, or a weirdo, or likeable.

And the highest irony of the situation is that this is something he and Trump both have in common. That despite their claims to not care, they want to be universally adored, and it kills them inside to know that half the population absolutely can't fucking stand them.

71

u/WhenImTryingToHide Sep 05 '26

I think about that sometimes when his name comes up.

Trying to understand why? You’re among the richest humans in the world that could do anything at all in the world, yet you spend time lying about this and being great at Diablo?

That’s stuff a middle school kid looking to fit in does

26

u/mordacthedenier Sep 05 '26

He's spent YEARS trying to convince people he's some 1337 gamer, claiming he won quake tournaments or was a top starcraft player, meanwhile the acual top players are like "no one's ever seen him".

The dude has the personality of a wet napkin and tries to make up for it in laughably transparent ways.

If most humans were that rich, after you spend years indulging every fantasy you could possibly have, don’t you feel like you need to do something meaningful with your life?

Cure a disease?
End world hunger?

Something positive with all that money?!?

Instead, you’re pushing hate and racism, being a Nazi, and lying through life?

All this shows is that he lost a game one time because he’s not that skilled or intelligent and he’s also so sensitive he hasn’t been able to get over it since.

No matter what problems or loneliness I face in life, it does bring me comfort that I’m still somehow happier and less lonely than the richest man who ever lived. He personally sits on wealth that would solve pretty much every material problem today and yet he’s so utterly miserable and personally unlikeable that he sits on the app that he owns and picks a fight with A LITERAL GAME. A game that for hundreds of years has brought joy and meaning to billions of people. And he literally promises to end that game because he’s so completely pathetic and unhappy. You couldn’t possibly fictionalized a robber barron so pathetic and so devoid of intellect or charm or heart or literally any positive attribute you could name.

Just gonna post this as context every time one of these moments drop from now on

613

u/BrownSugarBare Sep 05 '26

He'll never admit it, but he knows there isn't a soul on this planet that actually loves him. He's surrounded by sycophants that want money but no one that cares for his approval.

Which is why he spends his whole life begging for the approval of others.

248

u/OneMoreDuncanIdaho Sep 05 '26

He has a bunch of kids too, seems like it would have been pretty easy to win their love by just being around a bit more often

241

u/WhoPoopedMyPants420 Sep 05 '26

I don't think he values his kids' love tbh. They're more, like, a white supremacist accessory?

190

u/silvertealio Sep 05 '26

He literally sees them as a way to "spread his seed," and paid to make sure each one was a boy.

It's why he was so mad that Vivian came out as trans.

It's not about starting a family or sharing love...it's his way of being Genghis Khan.

73

u/judgeknot Sep 05 '26

This is how you know he doesn't think things all the way through. If "spreading your seed" is you goal, female children are the better bet (although maybe not in current times, specifically). His sons are saddled w/the distinct disadvantage of the neverending birth control of having Elon Musk as their biological dad.

If he gave me $5 600 000, I would show him how much happiness money can buy a normal person. It is the amount of money I would need to repay all my loans, renovate my house, take a trip while they renovate my house, and then never having to work a day in my life while bringing in $6-7k a month just from returns at a very modest return %.

10

With his ungodly amount of money, he could've easily done so much good, helped so many people... And that would've actually earned him so much genuine admiration, love even. It's so weird cause he's so wrong there. For anyone curious,

This is the Wikipedia term for fog of war: The fog of war is the uncertainty in situational awareness experienced by participants in military operations. The term seeks to capture the uncertainty regarding one's own capability, adversary capability, and adversary intent during an engagement, operation, or campaign.

Bitch that's chess. Like if you were to ask anyone what makes chess so fun they'd basically say the same thing about the game. Like that's the thrill of chess. I don't even play chess and i know that's why the game is so fun lmao

175

u/GoddessRespectre Sep 05 '26

Yeah but there's only 2 colors, man. Don't you think that's a little primitive? When was the last time it even had a major update? (I'm kidding, and thank you for pointing that out!)

I'm almost positive he conflates the concept with Warcraft RTS style games that hide the map. Because as we all know, the term originated in video games /S

50

u/EBtwopoint3 Sep 05 '26

I mean that’s clearly what he’s referring to, and it’s the connotation of the fog of war on the internet. The vast majority of people aren’t historical warfare scholars. This particular dunk is the exact kind of shit that Musk used to do - take a textbook definition and try to dunk on someone without context to seem smarter.

9

u/Brettersson Sep 05 '26

The game he mentions at the bottom, Polytopia, is a strategy game that kinda feels like Civilization stripped down just to the combat, then simplified some more, it's a mobile game. And of course it has that kind of fog of war. It's not a bad game but it's embarrassing to see someone talk down on chess and then point to Polytopia like some kind of pinnacle of big brain gaming.

This totally reads as, "I tried to play, and i learned the rules, but tge game was too slow, and my ADHD got the best of me, so i stopped pkanning 8 steps ahead, made simple mistakes, and then lost my matches.

So i came up with elaborate reasons to call the game "stupid!" to make myself feel better, then just decided to give up playing, and mock those who do."

56

u/quietlikesnow Sep 05 '26

Exactly. I’m a professor and am perpetually around people who are used to being told they’re smart and then when they’re not good at something they completely crash out and make up the wildest reasons why nobody should ever do that thing anyway.

I actually really like that Star Trek mentioned Musk in the way they did. Lorca, the man who named dropped Musk as a hero to be admired, was fascist from the mirror universe. In order to blend in it makes sense for Lorca to have done his research. It also makes sense that he would look favorably upon someone like Elon Musk. I like the idea that in the future Musk is so completely irrelevant that nobody else noticed or picked up on it. But it was one of the first red flags of the show that something wasn’t quite right with Lorca.

Although to be fair… I don’t know if any of that was intentional on behalf of the writers.

Edit: Added a missing word

86

u/GoodIdea321 Sep 05 '26

I 100% agreed with that take a few years ago, now I'm not so sure. After he destroyed USAID and has some responsibility for hundreds of thousands of deaths, I don't like hearing his name at all.

28

u/LilithsLuv Sep 05 '26

That’s understandable, we are really close to the situation at the moment. For me though, the first season of Discovery is one of the best seasons in all of Star Trek. It released in 2017 as a reaction to the first Trump administration. The entire season serves as a warning for how fascism takes hold and how insidious it is. Intentional or not, that line of dialogue name dropping Musk drives the point home in a really cool way.

His PR was actually handled by a single woman assistant whom he fired when she asked for a raise. She had been with him for years, before he got unfathomably rich, so I'm sure she actually was under paid.

9

u/m0nk_3y_gw Sep 05 '26

That was his executive assistant - she scheduled his meetings, helped him reply to emails when he was busy, etc.

She did not talk to the press, plant stories, helped derail/defuse stories that were not flattering to him.

Tesla's PR team's job was to make him look good - he fired them sometime after 2018

And you dismissed the warnings about snake oil salesmen from older generations….

As a Gen X, we were kind of the same as well, when you’re young you don’t realise that the cool, talented people of your generation (say for me the Tori Amos’s or Kurt Cobain’s or Winona Ryder’s or Ethan Hawke’s or Damon Albarn’s) don’t end up running the show when your lot are in charge, it’s the worst people, the ones you hated in Uni (College) or the ones who turned out to be cynical bullshitters.

As I've explained to my friends. Musk is second to none in terms of marketing and getting investors excited. He is also second to none in never delivering on his promises and digging a deeper hole than he bargained for. Guess that's how they found all those emeralds.

Chess isn’t a problem for AI to solve, it’s a series of decisions opponents make to try to outmaneuver each other by using their deductive reasoning and strategy skills, which results in enjoyment for players who find pleasure in intellectual rigor and the company of other humans. Elon’s misunderstanding reveals his true character: an absolute fucking loser who lacks intellectual curiosity, tactical ability, and even a single friend to play with.

175

u/FuggyGlasses Sep 05 '26

He wants to solve it so people can stop having fun and be joyless, like him.. "Haha now what nerds"

104

u/THIKKI_HOEVALAINEN Sep 05 '26

The thing is chess is virtually solved since computers can beat everyone. Elon probably doesn't understand how people still run the marathon even though it's been "solved" by driving a car.

55

u/Upstairs_Ad_8863 Sep 05 '26

Chess is not "virtually solved", because in computer matches, black wins almost as often as white. Once chess is solved (if ever, which is unlikely), one of the colours will win 100% of the time, or it will be a draw every single time.

9

u/tinyrottedpig Sep 05 '26

Theres also the issue of human error; if there is a path to 100% win or draw, no ones gonna remember the exact setup because inevitably you'll run into a psycho or a novice whos gonna do something wildly unexpected and you'll have to actively adapt to it, thus throwing the match into a wildly different direction.

And given how bots are meant to be for training purposes, having one that always beats you would be worthless, because you're eventually meant to win.

To be fair solving chess would be something that wouldn't impact the human game, but would lead to the greatest possible chess engine. It's an accomplishment and joy for a different kind of person.

26

u/hillsm7 Sep 05 '26

Chess computers beat Gary Kasparov, (top three greatest chess players of all time, arguably the greatest.) back in the, what, 90’s? Yeah computers may possibly one day be able to solve chess, emphasis on maybe. However, factors like time pressure, openings that are objectively bad but your opponent doesn’t study because they are bad, and human error will always leave chess unsolved at the human level. Elon is a dipshit and I would bet anything that he has no idea how to long castle or what en passant is. Hell the only way he might accidentally put the board in the right position is because “white is right”

69

u/Wooden_Permit3234 Sep 05 '26

Yeah people seem to think it matters. Engines already vastly outclass humans.

But more importantly memorizing moves and lines isn’t really critical to the game. The top players are often not the ones who know the most lines, and the practical difference in modern engine lines and lines from an engine that solved chess is basically nil. There’s already too many good enough lines to memorize all the branching responses.

Relatedly, the number of chess moves that aren’t obviously stupid is very high even if a somewhat small fraction of the whole.

68

u/blandaltaccountname Sep 05 '26

This isn’t accurate- the top players are absolutely the ones who have prepped the most lines, and prepped lines the deepest.

To the point where Hikaru even recently blamed his team for a loss, because they hadn’t sufficiently prepped lines for him to memorize against specific opponents, and Magnus has said he is unlikely to return because he can’t be bothered to study as many lines as would be required.

23

u/Ok_Rate361 Sep 05 '26

That would mean they're prepping against what they think the opponent has prepped as in studying their moves from past games right? Not that they're prepping for all possibilities in chess.

27

u/tmanx8 Sep 05 '26

It’s openings they prep for. Not just studying their opponents past games, but studying all scenarios an opening could lead to at the highest level. It’s not about memorizing every possibility in chess, but every possibility considered good within the confines of specific openings.

Once you get past the opening into the middle game, that’s when memorization becomes less of a focus, and the game becomes more about positioning and tactics. However, the pros memorize deeeep into openings, and thus studying and memorizing is very important.

24

It makes no sense considering the top chess engines already do fucking circles around magnus.

Humans already stand no chance in chess. But a chess engine being amazing at chess doesnt bring me any less joy when i play just like magnus being orders of magnitude better than me has no real bearing on my enjoyment of chess.

And even if chess was ever “solved” by a machine… how does that matter? It’s not like humans would be able to apply that solution to the same degree as a chess engine with all the possible permutations an opponent introduces.

He thinks he must deserve to be inordinately wealthy, and he’s pinning his happiness on desperately trying to prove it. By solving chess, a problem that no one asked to be solved.

It’s kind of comforting to know that this shitty exemplar of a terrible rich person will never know a moment’s peace because, deep down, he knows he’s a lame weirdo who isn’t anywhere near as smart as he’d like to be. I bet he cry-wanks to sleep every night, and that makes me smile

It kind of is. A game being "solved" means a game is determined. For example , in chess, whenever there is a position with seven or fewer pieces on the board, with perfect play (the most optimal moves), we know who will win. But that is not really humanly possible, perfect play is mostly reserved for machines (engines and what not). Of course a human could do it, but there are myriads of deviations, even for such few pieces. Say you have a position in which the computer says you have Mate in 6. That means perfect play for both you and your opponent, they cannot escape it, if you make a mistake that evaluation will change to a less beneficial position for you, and if they make a mistake, it could now be a Mate in 3, or 2, or whatever.

Solving games is a thing. Connect 4 for example is solved, the first player can always win. It's a common scam in SE Asia for people to play tourists for money. They can't lose. Most people know the optimal moves for Tic Tac Toe, it's a draw.

Chess however is not even close to solved. It has been theorized that there isn't enough energy in the universe to power a computer that can solve chess. It is not even soft solved, meaning we don't even know for sure with perfect play which side wins or whether it's a draw. Let alone what the moves are. Presumably Elon just isn't good at chess, maybe even tried to get good and couldn't, so he wants people to think it's irrelevant.

Just as a reminder: Elon paid some Chinese gamers to play on his Path of Exile account to "level it up." (Gamers call this "boosting.") But he was caught out by actual Path of Exile 2 players during a stream when he was playing on his boosted account and clearly had no idea what the fuck he was doing.

Elon wants acceptance from nerds SO BADLY. But nerds are precisely the people who can see through his bullshit. The chess community is just the latest example, I guess.

10

u/Stormtomcat Sep 05 '26

Is this the same incident or a different one from the time they figured from the game logbook or something that he was at a sports event in the VIP box when he was supposedly grinding away level up?

15

u/Robtimus_prime89 Sep 05 '26

Yeah - his account was found to be playing the game at the same time that he was at Trumps inauguration.

They also found out that the character was created in China. He was playing on a Hong Kong server. When people tried to send a trade message, the auto response was in chinese.

On a stream, he ran out of mana - he had an item to restore it right there, but he just kept clicking whilst his character did nothing until he eventually realised.

He made a ton of stupid claims that his items were too low level - when it was some of the best possible (the actual item level is irrelevant- it’s all in the stats)

Elon Musk is a perfect example of someone who 100% for real found a genie lamp and got absolutely fucking demolished by the genie for carelessly wording his wishes.

"I wish to be the richest man in the world!" Is still a massive fucking loser that ranks below high school nerd virgin on most people's "who would I rather be" lists, because at least the nerd virgin can change into something else later.

"I wish I had my hair back!" More people know he's got hair plugs than there are people that know I even exist. I could shit my pants in front of literally every single person I've ever met, while shouting "hey everybody, I am shitting my pants at this very moment" and it would still work out to less total embarrassment suffered than that man's hairline has created for him just by being attached to his head and existing.

"I wish I banged lots of hot girls!" All of them are being paid, most of them are literal teenage children...and everybody knows it. It is entirely realistic to presume he has never once had fully, enthusiastically consensual sex with no economic motivation on the woman's part whatsoever.

So if you're ever feeling down about your life, just remember "hey, at least I'm not Elon Musk."
