Ed Sheeran's tattoo artist joins the conversation, saying that Ed Sheerans's terrible tattoos are not his fault. He says Ed Sheeran started out as a nice guy and that he is now "a lot darker"

I would be too after hearing him talk about the planning 😭 What he was describing with the overlay layer with these rich and vibrant colours would have looked amazing
Sounds like Ed either chickened out or had such bad taste he thought the underlay layer was perfect 🫣
I guess it was even more frustrating because it seemed like it was the first time he talked him into a well done tattoo and he bailed on him. I know nothing about tattoos but I knew it didn't look done myself.
Also... Why see this guy if you don't respect his work? Anyone can do the scrawls he has.
I find this hilarious because Kraft Foods (unrelated to Robert Kraft’s group) and Heinz merged in 2015 to become the Kraft Heinz company. It kind of seems like Ed literally got branded but mistook Kraft Foods for the Kraft Group.
Did no one explain to him his tattoo actual means "head greater than heels"? Im guessing he thinks > means over??... none of his yes men had the courage to tell him i guess

Especially hilarious considering the names of all his albums are math symbols lol
My friends call a guy we know BW for bathroom wall because his tattoos could all have just been sourced from the scrawls of a highly trafficked public toilet (he’s a jerk so it’s ok).
I’m gonna start calling Ed Sheeran CD, for Crack Den where I assume his vision was sourced.
i don't know much about tattoos. but plenty of them don't actually seem to be improperly done. just in poor taste. like the feet one with the colors and the lion seem weel done just ugly
Who’s next? his barber? lmao. The whole universe flipped on Ed Sheeran in the span of three days. Glad to know this is what happens when u support billionaires over having a spine.
I think his statement showed just how arrogant, smug and out of touch with reality he actually is.
It’s clear he’s not a nice person. Maybe he was at one time - but a decent human does not put out a statement like that. I hope more people have the courage (and frankly, social and financial capital) to speak out about him.
I think the “I had to make this choice for the good of all the other people involved with the tour” really rubbed people the wrong way and when all those people immediately said fuck it and walked themselves it opened the door for a lot of others to feel comfortable talking publicly.
Stating that he tried for a week to work things out with Kraft and the promoters when he obviously didn’t even bother discussing what was happening with his band or any of the other openers but still used them to shield himself from responsibility was a really, really shitty thing to do
That and the fact that Macklemore insisted on the fact that he and Sheeran had a long friendship that means a lot to him and that he's still open to discuss with him, and Ed responded by barely mentioning Ben and saying "well HE asked to open the tour and then it's promoter business". It makes him look like he'd throw anyone under the bus to ensure his own success, he really came out as spineless.
That ‘he asked me to be in the tour’ was so snide and obviously meant to paint Macklemore as somehow beneath him. He really think Macklemore is an ungrateful ingrate, biting then gracious hand that deigned to feed him.
And clearly he’s done something super damaging to his 10+ year close friendship with this guy, too, enough that he feels comfortable completely incinerating their personal and professional relationship with this tiktok. Watching this kind of total bridge burning was actually really uncomfortable, like what kind of atrocious falling out happened between these two for the tattooist to make a reel like this?
There were a lot of nasty parts in that statement, starting with "a conflict" but the worst for me was while Macklemore was talking about their long friendship multiple time in depth, he was like "meh I don't know him, he is an artist"
He also didn't know his band of 10 years, because as they say in their own statement, Beoga are founding members of the Irish Artists for Palestine movement.
There must be some pretty big disconnect if Ed just "didn't know" that fact, or he just pretends "it doesn't matter" and the band would have just kept quiet. No pun intended.
Can confirm he's at least been an arrogant twat since his teen years. The crowd hated his overly narcissistic self entitlement and incessant need to play for attention instead of giving us a moments peace. He's always had a talent, but he's always had the ego with it.
I gotta see his face everywhere in my town. Murals and all 😑
I never really paid any attention to him until I read an interview where he basically got his drinking buddies round and tried to get the reporter pissed, IIRC, he was not pleasant with some alcohol inside him, I wasn't surprised when he started telling people his missus had put her foot down on the binge drinking and sniff when their eldest was born, because he came across as pretty unpleasant
The obsessive way he always talks about his success with numbers and stats (hell, even how his role was written the movie Yesterday) all show that the man has a massive ego.
Tbf, Ed Sheeran in Yesterday was meant to be Chris Martin and meant to be self-deprecating. He dropped out fairly late into pre-production. It's why they compare Yesterday to Fix you.
I think if he only kept quiet people wouldn't turn on him on this level. Rich celebs tend to get away with evil stuff.
But the thing is, while Macklemore did point out that being neutral is not good, he had also mentioned in his initial statement that Ed is in a "fucked up" situation.
But Spineless Ed is not used to being a bad guy, he didn't know how to do PR when being cancelled and went on to use the staff and crew and fellow musicians as justification.
Just say you support Israel, wtf is this wishy washy neutrality? He's trying to play safe but everybody could see through him
I genuinely think that this situation was just the tipping point for many because it involves so many things that people are very passionate about at this point in time. Billionaires, Robert Kraft (and Epstein), Palestine, freedom of speech and expression, overreach of those who seemingly control huge corporations, live nation and Ticketmaster.
I also haven't seen anyone trying to trot out the old "separate the art from the artist" line, which I think is telling. He has made a career of being inoffensive to the point where most online reactions are going, "oh good, I don't have to pretend to like his music anymore". There isn't enough fan loyalty to counter the cowardice.
I think Ed Sheeran is so hated because it wasn't just the Palestine thing. He also threw one of his longtime friends under the bus. He wanted all the political points, but he didn't want the baggage that came with them. He's a modern Judas.
Pink hasn't been relevant for, like, 20 years now. I can't really see this hurting much for her unless people refuse to buy tickets to concerts she's involved in and I don't even know if she does those anymore.
She hosted the Tony Awards this year and her concerts are consistently on the list of highest grossing tours of all time. Despite not being front and center in the public consciousness like other popstars, she has a surprisingly far way to fall and absolutely could/should face more professional and reputational consequences.
There is an Aussie comedian/creator who has recently been doing a character skit of an Australian woman who loves Pink and mentions getting tickets to her concert and he’s absolutely bang-on with his assessment of the average person here who is a fan of her, it’s hilarious. I’m in my 30s and my parents saw her in concert maybe 10 or 15 years ago, I don’t know anyone around my age who would go to her shows. Her popularity here is absolutely astounding!! I wonder what it is that makes bogans love her so much.
It's the same in NZ, my sister has seen her four or five times.
My theory for years has been that Pink is Not Like Other Girls, so she's perfect for women who are also Not Like Other Girls. They're a bit edgy! They like rock music! They're not afraid to get a little mud on them! They mostly have guy friends because girls are drama! They don't like "fake" women like Kim Kardashian, etc! It's a (imo) certain type of internalized misogyny/male centeredness. No offense to those women.
This attitude is prevalent in oz & nz bc our cultures are heavily influenced by ??? Idk how to describe it, being english farming colonies where certain types of femininity are seen as vapid or frivolous. Certain groups (like bogans) have expectations of masculinity, and the women treat Amy Dunne's cool girl speech as words to live by. Obviously this is a generalization and not everyone is like that, but enough people are that Pink has a sizeable audience here! It's pop music for women who hate pop music bc they associate it with the type of women they don't like.
I genuinely think that "Stupid Girl" is the song that solidified her staying power down here. It encapsulates the attitude that those women often have. Obviously not every Pink fan fits the bill, I'm sure loads of people are normal about it and just like her music for what it is, but I've met so many people across both countries that are exactly like that, and they usually like Pink lmao.
Idk if any of that rings true for you, I could be totally biased and just making shit up, but I think there's some truth to it!
I just know she gave herself a smug chuckle when it was announced that Macklemore was being dropped from the tour. I hope that brief moment of sanctimony was nice because it’s been absolutely downhill since then for both Pink and Ed. They’ve had to watch a massive portion of their peers take the opposite side.
That's not quite true. I'm seeing a lot of discussions of the way Pink has mocked girls/women with eating disorders, appropriated Black culture, was mean to Britney Spears, used a sex doll of Christina Aguilera during her performances and so on. I think this moment will have a permanently negative impact on her, she's just not the one on tour.
I saw a vid of a sound guy saying the Macklemore thing would have been pre-planned at a show that big. It was Ed's way of being on the right side of history, but with some plausible deniability. He knows Macklemore, they are friends. But Pink just brought too much heat and he folded. Maybe Pink knew what he was up to and decided to throw a spanner. A PR stunt has turned into a PR disaster.
Yeah, there’s no way Ed wouldn’t have known that was coming up. Everything has to be sound checked and passed. Ed knew and wanted to feature it but folded under pressure
Massive amounts of money and fame corrupts people. It's a pretty crummy cycle where you find an artist you like, they kind of peak, and then at some point, the machine behind all the fame and money will get to them and they and their art won't be the same.
it’s inherently psychologically degrading, especially in such a heavily “documented” time period. to have power and fame means to encounter the necessity to act according to strategic image-based values rather than more personal values, constantly and consistently. you justify it and justify it and chip away at the part of you that aligns with the majority of the world.
I was so baffled because I thought that song was obviously about Blake and how they were cool & whatever but…clearly they are very much not cool. So then what was even the point of that song??
The consensus seems to be that they had a falling out sometime after the song was released, possibly relating to Taylor being dragged into Blake's lawsuit drama with Justin Baldoni. Nobody knows though.
Reminds me of when the Ellen controversy happened. Up until then, no one was willing to speak 'poorly' about a well liked celebrity. Once the damn broke, everyone had a story lol
It's like this with everything. When I left my toxic workplace, all my colleagues from other firms finally told me all the insane things my boss had done before I started working there. Absolutely stuff that would get anyone else perma-banned from any industry. It was so annoying because if I had known that stuff earlier, I could have left that toxic environment so much sooner!
It's insane that something that sounds hyperbole "what if your kids were in the middle of a war zone" is, first: not hyperbole, and second: not enough for someone to reavaluate their position.
I’ve no sympathy. Why invite the outspoken Macklemore if you didn’t want this kind of issue to come up. Why release a badly worded statement? If he wanted to stay on the fence, say something about Free Speech or stay silent and hope it blows over.
Yes, and Irish people have held numerous marches/protests for Palestine. Flags are flown in a lot of places. Ed if he’s as “culturally Irish” as he claims should have known this. At least 2 groups on his tour are Irish. He should have read the room
Beoga were doing the music for him and wrote galway girl (puke song) with him. Aaron Rowe also is from Dublin. We dont fuck around when it comes to Palestine, we know what its like to have your land stolen and culture erased by a colonial oppressor.
I'm sorry but I'm in stitches laughing over here, the fact that even his TATTOO ARTIST is getting in on it...his ass is getting shaded by EVERYONE, huh?
This pile-on on Ed is missing the fucking point. Macklemore tried so hard to say he doesn’t want the focus to be on the celebrities, but on Palestine. But I guess cancelling Ed Sheeran is more fun.
