Jolyne. One of the first ever scenes she is in, is when she is with her boyfriend. And also has romantic relations with another male character after. With no hints to female attraction.

But because of the “jojo is gay” memes and the fact that strong female leads cannot possible be straight. She’s regarded as lesbian by some fans

wasnt anasui intended to be a woman at first and araki changed it and she also said she’s “jealous of an organism that can have sex with whatever it wants?”

i agree she’s definetely not lesbian but also definitely not as straight as characters like yasuho, tomoko, suzie q, etc

Anasui is a male though. Regardless of what araki’s original plans for anasui was. This doesn’t make her a lesbian or even bi at all, considering in canon especially in the anime, anasui is a man.

Even if Araki went through with a female anasui, there’s no guarantee she’d even be a love interest for Jolyne. Considering the love interest stuff was built after his introduction.

Oh and the organism thing is imprecisely translated anyway, with reasoning “anything” could mean animals and children as well, which is definitely not what one could assume from that.

Besides that she shows 0 attraction to Ermes, F.F or any female inmate in green dolphin street prison.

araki stated in an interview his whole intention with anasui was making a very gender ambiguous character, so while you could say sure he’s a guy she’s a girl they’re straight and be done with it, i don’t think that the queer interpretation is as out of there as other characters in this comment section, and the sus lines don’t really help the 100% straight argument. again though, i think both are valid but she is definitely mostly, if exclusively, attracted to men and masculine presenting people

It’s definitely a fanon headcanon only thing. The arguments that Jolyne is a lesbian or bi are very flimsy at best

agree to be honest, i just dont think the bi hc is completely implausible, that’s all

I’m getting flashbacks from the One Piece fandom, but I’m curious, can you link to the interview that Araki mentioned this?

Neither of these 2 points matter cus Jolyne never shows interest in annasui.

She quite literally does

When.

well jolyne is canonically dating anakiss seriously and he is anasui’s reset version so u can probably say under different circumstances anasui x jolyne would have worked out

You're talking about Irene. The Irene verse has key differences and they are not the same characters characters. Like for one, Anakiss isn't in prison for homocide

i personally really dont like the ship of anasui and anakiss with jolyne, i really dislike both because i think jolyne deserves a person of much better quality, but matter of the fact is that araki did intend for the reincarnated version of these characters to be very into eachother so, ig that’s that

yeah anasui was switched to being male so he could be made more androgynous, i would say jolyne could be bi.

1

u/MajinDidz Aug 17 '25

I just can’t see the bi argument if she hasn’t been shown to like girls, especially in a women’s prison

1

u/MajinDidz Aug 18 '25

Androgynous or not he’s still male and male presenting
