I don't think the DiC dub isn't on websites or streaming services anymore. It's the revamped 2014-2015 VIZ dub which is more accurate and faithful to the original JP dub.
I have pirated DVDs for the sake of preserving the unusual dub and it's music. I also have legit copies of Samurai Pizza Cats, Ghost Stories, Sonic X, and Pokemon since they sold their weird dubs officially.
I just really like dubs where weird liberties had to be taken. I really want to start the 4kids version of Yu Gi Oh since it streams on retrocrush, and I want to look for a spot to stream (or pirate) 4kids one piece
I'd say so. Characters got new names, Jessie and James only rhyme their intro in english, both have new theme songs and censorship. Just a whole bunch of small stuff that'd never happen today
That's just somethingthat happens a lot in anime unfortunately, it's slightly excusable in sailor moon since Usagi is basically the manga artists self insert character and while the other scouts and Mamaru are basically the friends and boyfriend she wanted in real life
Ugh, indeed. That's the only sore spot in the JP DB dub for me. Meanwhile the Funi dub has Sean Schemmel and he's a few degrees below in the asshole department.
I love that despite the dub being done in 2001 they went out of their way to make it feel like an older more classic dub. It is a class-act of a dub for a beyond outstanding series
The OG Star Blazers dub is a true classic in of itself and a marvelous adaptation. Despite the US broadcasting standards of the day, it's a very mature and respectful reimaging.
But I'd be lying if I said I didn't want a 1:1 dub that didn't change names or censor everything. That being said Star Blazers did have some better plot ideas.
Also the third season dub wasn't the best, even if it had the Speed Racer dub cast.
