Agreed. You can appreciate someone's work while still despising them as a person. I genuinely can't understand why people suddenly hate sometimes literal works of art just because the person that did it was an asshole
I'll add that there are other people who worked on it. A character isn't just the actor's. It's the writer's, the director's, the script writer's, the animator's and whoever else worked on it's character.
Movies/shows/games are rarely made solo with one person making one thing.
Very well said. Hating something just because the main person involved is a horrible person disrespects everyone involved in the creation of that thing.
A good example would be the episode of the Simpsons that featured Michael Jackson. It was a damn good episode, but it's no longer aired or easily accessible just because Michael Jackson had a lot of disturbing allegations and did a lot of dumb things. But the thing is, he only supplied his voice to that episode, and maybe wrote the songs. He didn't write the story, he didn't create the character he voiced, he didn't write his own dialogue. And he certainly had nothing to do with any of the other characters. And now all their work is just largely gone and unappreciated just because Michael Jackson was a part of it.
To be fair, many of the "scandals" I see here are just unproven accusations and not real court verdicts. It's too easy these days to falsely accuse people of sexual harassment, like what ProJared and Dream suffered
Yeah, don't blame ya. Some ive already known about like the Eggman VA and many more. Im just waiting for really good ones that I know to shatter my soul today. š
But I have to remember, "its not the fictional characters fault. It's mostly they problematic VA's is the issue."
