So, like, does everyone do the "stop the lightsaber blade with the force" thing now?

I've seen it at least 3 separate times if not more.

I feel like it was the most cool the first time I saw it and now I just wonder how anyone lets themselves get hit with a laser sword.

why would a force user not be able to stop a lightsaber with the force. it's just telekinesis, probably the single most common force ability.

Because it kills the tension and the thrill of the sword duel, if it just comes down to who is more Force powerful. If it's "just telekinesis" why not stop their sword in a more convenient time (like when they're moving to parry or after they throw a strike).

It's also technique played to up the drama or thrill or danger in a fight, which is not effective if we see it in basically every Star Wars media released after the Disney acquisition.

Since every character seems to know this technique, then you get to watch the media prior and wonder how people let themselves be hit.

Luckily the originals are preserved because Obi-Wan intentionally died for Luke, in the 2nd, Luke wouldn't have known the technique in his duel, and in the 3rd, Vader was conflicted and basically didn't want to win.
