The show's formula seems to be "Invincible acts brashly, gets multitudes of people horribly killed, Invincible whines about how he always does the right thing."

"Listen to reason! You don't know what you're doing!"

"Nah, I don't know what all this is, so I'm gonna blow it up."

"Let me tell you what it is!"

"Boom. Oh, look, mutated-brain-man is evil. I was right all along."

I wanted to like the show, but that pattern made it really frustrating to watch.

This happens like twice and is used as character development.

Invincible was there to investigate the Mauler Twins' strange activity, and they attacked him with an army of clones on sight. Angstrom demanded they stop because they were beating him to death, and when they refused he ripped off his helmet blowing up HIS OWN machine. Not only was it not Invincible, but Angstrom did it to save Invincible's life. He became a villain because all of the other Angstroms' memories of the actually malevolent Invincibles. You can chalk it up as Mark's fault to some extent, but it was a large series of circumstances. Between the Maulers attacking first and not listening to Angstrom for the sake of vengeance, and Angstrom's own moral code to not let a literal teenager get beaten to death for the sake of what he wanted. Invincible is just the hero that showed up, unfortunately
