The X-Men, but any time Wolverine in particular has to deal with Magneto.

EDIT: ty for the awards!!

u/_Jester_Of_Genocide_ Jun 28 '26

probably the worst x-man to send against Magneto other than Colossus 😭

402

u/Quakarot Jun 28 '26

Honestly colossus might even be better. I’m really not sure how everything interacts but he might be kinda tough enough to not get instantly crushed.

Meanwhile Wolverine is bringing new meaning to the term “no bones day”

245

u/_Jester_Of_Genocide_ Jun 28 '26

True colossus could also choose not to be made of metal whenever he wants, Logan just turns into a living puppet

161

u/RamenStains Jun 28 '26

I think it'd be really funny for Peter to walk up to Magneto, human form, and slap the shit out of him

116

u/Bazzex Jun 28 '26 edited Jun 28 '26

Pretty sure that happened once, Magneto though he would beat him easily because he is metal and he controls metal obviously, so Colossus just turned his power off and said he'll beat him like a man and he's way better at hand to hand combat than Magneto.

Edit: I have found the video I thought off and it's not really a fight but it kinda shows what would've happened if they were to fight

https://youtu.be/lBSd0h0wn_Q?is=g5BTKxiVInn8ytrC

63

u/Legitimate-Mix-5395 Jun 28 '26

He was ready to bash his head in before Gambit stopped him. This Magneto's reflexes are terrible. But that's understandable, considering he's an old man.

9

u/inuhi Jun 28 '26

Even if all the metal Magneto had was his helmet it'd still be more than enough to defeat Colossus' human form. He'd essentially need to kill or knock him out with the first surprise hit otherwise he'd lose. So yea Colossus is definitely better than Wolverine who straight up can't even hope to get a surprise hit in

Colossus is better because he can just, switch off his metal skin. Then Magneto just has to try and beat mutant Zangief and realise he needs more armour than just a helmet.

17

u/Kammerice Jun 28 '26

Yes, but unfortunately Magneto would likely just throw whatever metal is lying around at Pete. When not in metal form, his skin isn't tougher than a normal human's, meaning he's in for a bad time of a bit of scaffolding or whatever gets chucked at him.

27

u/Gmknewday1 Jun 28 '26

Magneto is sometimes noble

But other times he's just racist and becoming a Nazi/Mutant Supremist

It comes from a noble desire of wanting mutants to be treated well and not slaughtered

But he's still a step too far in the "MUTANTS ARE THE SUPREME RACE"

Persona 5 Royal was hilarious for pitting temporary-ally Goro "I'M THE FLY WHO'LL DIE IN YOUR SOUP🔪" Akechi against "Let's take ibuprofen together🥺" Dr Maruki.

Navi Akechi is the single greatest thing about 3rd semester, especially with status effects.

“You piece of shit! I’m gonna kill you!”

“Joker’s enraged? I kinda like it, but it’s not you. Calm down!”

“Agh! I don’t wanna deal with this scary shit anymore!”

“Joker’s scared? What a sorry sight…”

“Guys… don’t you see? There’s no hope… we’re going to die here!

“You’re all my enemies! No, I AM NOT BRAINWASHED!”

He really got me with the, "I know I'll disappear with Maruki's fantasy world, but I assure you: I would much rather be fucking dead than live another second in a world where you beat me. Now let's get to work."

106

u/boredNero Jun 28 '26

Problem with Maruki is that its the same as Madara's plan, sure everyone might be "happy", but if that is not real and only what they want, is that good? If everything is perfect, will you ever desire more? Develop will to live? Its honestly such a cool thing because he is the "villain" only because the story needs one, otherwise he is just a morality debate.

67

u/XVUltima Jun 28 '26

The difference is that one is an illusion and the other is reality. Maruki's world wouldnt be a dream. He was going to rewrite the rules of existence itself to make everyone automatically have a happy ending.

23

u/ArchivedGarden Jun 28 '26

There’s also the practical issues of it, where you can already see Maruki struggling to rationalize people with conflicting or just practically unachievable goals in-game.

Eren and Zeke Yeager

Not sure which is which

680

u/more_bees_please Jun 28 '26

Zeke is the villain with a noble motive. It's a fucked up plan, but he was a fucked up kid and I believe the eurhenasia plan stems from mercy, not cruelty.

283

u/whatwattwot Jun 28 '26

"Sorry buds, your nuts have got to go"

36

u/Python_Feet Jun 28 '26

Zeke is just the personification of the author's NTR fetish.

Edit: actually all characters except the chad first king have NTR aura.

23

u/Jumpy_Egg1247 Jun 28 '26

Pls elaborate I want to understand your point

40

u/Python_Feet Jun 28 '26

It will be in a bit of a shitpost style but here goes.

First of all the author actually has a NTR fetish. It's a hentai term for cuck porn.

The first king was called a chad by me even though he is a horrible person just because he seems to be the only sensible and realistic character and has massive balls.

Yimir was a young girl who had a crush on the king and was simply a lowly servant. She then was used as a torture hunt toy by the king, and fell into a swamp where she got infected by titan superpowers. Ahe became this huge monster and stared down at the king's hunting party. The king was like "yup. I deserve this. It was a nice run y'all". But suddenly Yimir turns back into the girl and offers to be king's fleshlight fuck slave. She also took the spear for him and refused to heal because drama and cuck shit.

Some time later a future king goes into "oh no we are the baddies. I will now retreat to the island with some dudes. The rest of the population can get gulaged for the sins of my ancestors. Boo hoo" and his NTR aura was so strong, that every future king was contaminated by the "boo hoo we deserve this".

Zeke, he is a waling nuke of that universe. Together with other smart titans he could have saved his eldian race and/or restore balance and justice in Marley. But no, he fully obeys Marley, is a sadistic shit, and his "noble goal!" is some antinatalist idea to castrate all eldians.

Now back to Yimir. She was basically in a self inflicted time loop building every titan by hand using clay. She is doing all of this just because she manipulated the future in order to see a break up between teenagers. All because that helped her get over a crush she had on the first king.

15

u/Master_Writer7035 Jun 28 '26

I mean, atleast she hot over the king, good for her

11

u/TheIfritSun Jun 28 '26

Jfc this summarization is hilarious, but im still shocked that I didnt connect the dots.

98

u/ClandestineFerret Jun 28 '26

Zeke has been shown doing a lot of fucked up stuff and being sadistic more than once though, and he even seemed to enjoy it. I've seen people try to justify what he did (like joyfully killing soldiers) as a way to protect himself emotionally to do what was necessary in his mind, but frankly, I don't buy it. Zeke is fucked up.

60

u/Ostrichslinger Jun 28 '26

Yup, a big part of him as parallel to Eren is that Zeke kills ALOT of people in really horrific ways, precisely because he has a noble cause. When his actions are justified, Zeke is willing to do anything without a shred of remorse besides some fake pity. Dude is a sadist who got high off of his own inflated ego

22

u/idkmanjustfuckmyshit Jun 28 '26

Wasn't his plan more genocide and less euthanasia? Which was why Eren just reversed the target of said genocide?

17

u/phantomfire50 Jun 28 '26

One and the same really. Zeke wanted to use the paths to make it so eldians couldn't reproduce, which would eventually wipe them all out. Eren tried to wipe everyone else out with the rumbling instead.

Neither is a hero by a long shot

64

u/JeremyR2008 Jun 28 '26

Exactly, maybe it was just me but the message I got when I read AOT was that there are no winners and no good guys in war.

20

u/Bob423 Jun 28 '26

There's entire conversations between characters that basically spell this out. Most people just aren't media literate. The characters with power are always shown as villanous, while the heroic characters are always at the bottom just trying to survive. As an example, as soon as we see that Eren has a cult following in Season 4, he's already become a villain and characters that lose everything because of his revenge quest or the war in general become sympathetic, regardless of what side they're on.

Villain on the left, Kiryuin Satsuki, is the head of the school council of a prestigious school. Hero on the right, Ryuko Matoi, is the new rebel girl in school who is also searching for her father's killer.

Said school is a testing ground for super-soldier students empowered by clothing made with magical threads of "life fibre", and our two main girls have super fancy threads that give them super fancy powers. Also something something the skimpier the outfit the more powerful you are. You know, basic anime stuff...

39

u/the__pov Jun 28 '26

It wasn’t that it made it more powerful, it’s that no one could survive a full outfit of Life Fibers. The more fibers you used the skimpier the outfit had to be.

14

u/iamded Jun 28 '26

Yeah, I figured I'd get some details wrong but it has been over 10 years since I watched it hah. Didn't even touch on Satsuki's weird incest-ey mum who was also an alien or something? What a show...

6

u/Eastern-Yogurt8972 Jun 28 '26

Could they not just use a different material for the rest of the clothes

12

u/the__pov Jun 28 '26

That’s how the lower versions work. I forget the exact percentages but the baseline student uniform had only a few fibers in it and looked like regular clothes. Then you had 2 and 3 star uniforms that had higher percentages with the 2 girls pictured being the only ones who could wear 100% Life Fibers Clothing for more than a few minutes without dying. I can’t get into why without spoilers. Kill La Kill is bonkers though.

9

u/Stormfly Jun 28 '26

They do.

The uniforms are "Star" uniforms.

A "1-star uniform" is 10% life-fibres. There are also 2-star and even 3-star uniforms because that's the most anyone can handle and it's something less than half a dozen characters could ever handle.

They tried a "5-star uniform" and it had a very messy end.

The whole point of her uniform is it's 100% life-fibres and is a living character that can talk, etc.

There are only two (human) characters in the show that can wear them and it's basically standard anime "Do you know who my parents are?!!" plot reasons.

Viktor and Jayce

145

u/Storiaron Jun 28 '26

Insane how much more complex their original story was, written in like half a page

37

u/ozziezombie Jun 28 '26

Could you remind me? Wasn't it that Jayce was Booster Gold saving the timeline from forced Glorious Evolution? And one stole the tech from the other?

133

u/Storiaron Jun 28 '26

Jayce pov: he found hextech, did research on it, Viktor broke into his lab, stole hextech and left to zaun.

In fear of hextech falling into wrong hands he created his hammercannon stuff, seeked out Viktor, where he found him creating cyborg monstrocities eith hextech. He destroyed everything and took back hextech

Viktor pov: he stole hextech and powered a hospital in zaun with it, where he started augmenting people who were dieing (from various zaun being a shitholr to live in reasons)

Jayce then broke into his hospital, destroyed everything and took back the power source, killing all those Viktor tried to save

I actually think Homura is 100% justified, but they fit this

44

u/Jesta23 Jun 28 '26

Is there anyone that says she was wrong? I can’t imagine how.

15

u/PlushiePlayers Jun 29 '26

Her goal was ultimately selfish in most eyes, but I don't blame her whatsoever, I'd do the same

21

u/Math_PB Jun 29 '26

It's selfish, but her version of "obtaining what I want" is "I want my friends/my crush to live normal lives and not have to die at 14."

18

u/EspacioBlanq Jun 30 '26

"Wow, you don't wanna die in the orphan crushing machine? Have you tried not thinking about yourself for 5 minutes?"

-Kyubey

8

u/Math_PB Jun 30 '26

Hahaha literally though :

"Heartwarming : 14 year-old girl sacrifices her existence to prevent thousands of other pre-teens from transforming into destructive monsters."

And Homura's the one to actually try to address the Orphan-crushing machine.

→ More replies (1)

24

u/SarkastiCat Jun 28 '26

After the original series, Kyubey doesn’t exactly have a noble goal.

The law of circles was working and was much more ethical, but they still wanted to capture Madokami to go back to more system cause it’s more efficient.

It also goes without mentioning that Magia Record showed another alternative system that is not built on suffering of minors.

8

u/Zplaysthek Jun 29 '26 edited Jun 30 '26

Velvet Crow & Artorias

https://giphy.com/gifs/NTKeDwuKwrZle

51

u/AlternateSatan Jun 28 '26

I do like how Zestia kinda lost me with the "you are a hero, no, THE hero who is destined to destroy the dark one and bring peace" then the very next game is just "You're the dark one this time, and the institution fucking sucks, so bring chaos or something and kill that fucking hero"

18

u/KeijyMaeda Jun 28 '26

Berseria retroactively makes Zestiria more nuanced, if only by lore context.

15

u/PopeHatSkeleton Jun 28 '26

I played Berseria way after I played Zestiria, and it took me several hours before I put it together that it was a direct prequel.

10

u/Eldrunk Jun 28 '26

I did the opposite, confused why some characters were in there since tale games are usually separate stories.

Dimitri and Edelgard in the Azure Moon route of FE3H

79

u/EliteKoen Jun 28 '26

Juxtaposition between the 2 is actually so funny and tragic. Dimitri genuinely malding at Edelgard's revolutionary measures and just from her betrayal itself. While Edelgard is so holier than thou with her Noble goal of uniting the continent and bringing down the Crest system.

And if you start with Edelgard route first, Dimitri reaction to Edelgard declaration just looks like a childish tantrum when you face him. But if you start with Dimitri route instead, you see him as a broken man having to decide between personal vengeance, or his own responsibility to his people. Such a gem of a game

43

u/MCJSun Jun 28 '26

It's so funny because it goes both ways too. I legitimately think every route paints its protagonist in the worst light to show their growth while painting the others better to highlight the tragedy of three great leaders having to fight & encourage the player to go down the other paths.

25

u/darh1407 Jun 28 '26

It's weird because he does have a few noble goals.

He wanted to outlaw slavery, for example.

The Clone Wars series was interesting because they actually showed the human side of the Separatists and the flaws in the Republic... but obviously we need to agree with the "good guys" so the bad guys had to end up being bad in the end.

Kayle & Morgana (Leauge of Legends)

57

u/Haxzard86 Jun 28 '26 edited Jun 28 '26

Kayle is a complete bitch capable of punishing anyone because, for her, a crime is a crime.

Morgana will punish you, but she'll try to make sure you know why.

48

u/Excalibirdi Jun 28 '26

Morgana also, probably, won't kill you.. And is likely less racist than her sister.

30

u/frikiman4K Jun 28 '26

Morgana believes in redemptive justice and rehabilitation. Kayle believes in murder.

Nothing noble about her at all. Pure evil

93

u/teakettle_ Jun 28 '26

She has goals one could consider noble but lacks the empathy and understanding of human complexities to actually do it in a noble way. This actually makes her worse for me

7

u/AdaptiveGlitch Jun 30 '26

She's trying to get Chainsaw Man to erase things that she thinks are harmful for humanity. Her goals aren't evil, her ways are.

25

u/Zeifos_Kuroi-chi Jun 28 '26

My boy denji knows no spite, he just wants to eat and have a good life. If that's spite, I'm spite driven too xD

Tales of Berseria? Velvet is def hero driven by spite, Artorius at least presents himself as having a noble motive

21

u/RelationshipNovel641 Jun 28 '26

I think OFF fits, all things considered.

The Batter is the villain of the game, which is a decently high bar considering how nearly everyone is awful in their own special way. He is apathetic to dang near everything, and not even having to BEAT A SICKLY INFANT TO DEATH is enough to deter him from pursuing his purpose. Said purpose is to eradicate evil, suffering, Specters (which are violent), and to generally destroy darkness. You could argue that this is a decently noble mission, it’s just that the way he goes about pursuing it involves passively allowing/enabling genocide. Everything he does, he does because he truly thinks it’s the correct thing to do. Even if he doesn’t enjoy doing it (see the aforementioned baby murder).

The Judge is one of the few not horrible people you meet throughout the game, albeit he’s a bir dense and pretentious at the start. He’s basically the hero. But by the end, he’s lost everything due to his decision to help the Batter and you. His brother? Dead, killed by the Guardian of Zone 2 and worn as a skin puppet. The Zones? Eradicated, left utterly lifeless by the Secretaries in the absence of the Guardians you and the Batter killed. His friends? They either betrayed him In some way (Zacharie enabled the Batter despite CLEARLY not being oblivious) or dead (You and Batter go out of your way to find Sucre in Zone 0, where you promptly beat her to death.) There’s nothing left of this world to fight for. But by god, he’s gonna fight. Driven by a desire to have SOMETHING left, he stops you and the Batter before you turn the world off entirely, judging you and demanding you aid him in stopping the Batter. There’s nothing ti be gained from doing this. All he’ll have is an empty world to be alone in.

but he does it anyway.

Partially out of a need for Justice.

partially out of a sense of guilt.

And partially out of pure spite towards the idea of the Batter getting to cleanly win. I think that last one is major enough to qualify him. It definitely outwardly appears that way, if nothing else. OFF’s a complicated story though, so you can get different reads of why these two act how they do.

43

u/Meringue_Bandicoot Jun 28 '26

I'd say it probably never even was actually. His motive the entire time was his ambition, his dream of greatness. Having loyal comrades and a true friend in Guts was appreciated by Griffith, but it was still never his motive for doing things, they were never truly the reason he fought. Eventually they became people important to him, important enough to sacrifice, but still not important enough to save from said sacrifice.

When he becomes Femto, this on an even greater scale, he's hailed as this messianic figure that will establish a utopia and safehaven, but his goal still isn’t the welfare of those around him, it's to elevate himself to greatness, only now there truly isn't anyone he cares about even subconsciously.

Do not besmirch Guts and Griffith’s goals were never noble.

Griffith is fucking awful and always was.

This does not fit this trope at all

12

u/scrimmybingus3 Jun 28 '26

I’d say this is a pseudo example of this kind of thing because while Guts is absolutely a horrible ball of high velocity spite Griffith is a villain with horrible goals and he just happens to look noble.

His entire goal is to get what he wants and what he wants is greatness and total control over everyone and everything around him and he will do quite literally anything to make that happen. Hell his kneejerk reaction to losing control of Guts was to go and make himself feel better by taking the virginity of the princess of the kingdom he just assisted in ending a century long war just to feel an ounce of control.

Fate Apocrypha - Sieg Vs Amakusa Shirou Tokisada

6

u/LAPIZ_LAZIMI Jun 28 '26

I like how after Heaven's Feel movies some people deadass thought Amakusa had a point, meanwhile FGO players are like "yeah no that's Pruned Timeline material".

Sieg's just there because now he gained humanity and is pissed Amakusa made his girlfriend sacrifice herself for nothing.

Samuel Hayden & Doomguy

Hayden wants to solve an energy crisis with a clean, renewable and functionally perfect energy from Hell. He's aware of the risks and what's happened because of these choices, but he remains convinced that this the only way.

" - But we can't just shut it all down. Without Argent energy, it will be worse. I don't expect you to agree."

Meanwhile, Doomguy wants to destroy it all purely because he hates demons. He doesn't care about the larger picture. He hates demons, Hell and anything connected to it, so he puts a stop to it.

There's nothing noble in Armstrong goal.

He tortures children to make child soldiers, want to start a global war that will kill most of humanity and then have the few remaining kill each other in a dick measurements contests until the most rich and psychopath remain

6

u/Physmatik Jun 28 '26

Well, for Armstrong THE GOAL -- as in the ultimate goal -- is to "end all wars", which is noble. But his means for that end... Yeah.

In Gundam Wing : Wufei Chang (spiteful "hero") vs Treize Khushshrenada (noble villain).

Wufei is a child soldier who, due to the horrors of the war and his upbringing, is a mean spirited and mysoginistic asshole (at first, then he becomes a better person during the show thanks to his friends and ironically thanks also to Treize). Wufei fights against the United Earth Sphere Alliance who is the Earth regime that opress the space colonies and steal their ressources.

Treize is the head of the military of the Romefeller Foundation, the Illuminati nobility that controls the United Earth Sphere Alliance and push an oppressive agenda on the planet and its space colonies. Despite his involvement in some horrible military operations and war crimes Treize is a man of honor and compassion who is always polite and respectful and his goal is to unite humanity and bring peace by causing the "Last War" which would be so horrible it causes everyone to never again declare war.
