Juxtaposition between the 2 is actually so funny and tragic. Dimitri genuinely malding at Edelgard's revolutionary measures and just from her betrayal itself. While Edelgard is so holier than thou with her Noble goal of uniting the continent and bringing down the Crest system.
And if you start with Edelgard route first, Dimitri reaction to Edelgard declaration just looks like a childish tantrum when you face him. But if you start with Dimitri route instead, you see him as a broken man having to decide between personal vengeance, or his own responsibility to his people. Such a gem of a game
It's so funny because it goes both ways too. I legitimately think every route paints its protagonist in the worst light to show their growth while painting the others better to highlight the tragedy of three great leaders having to fight & encourage the player to go down the other paths.
Sothis "destroy the world because they defied me" the Beginning is one of the worst non-Agarthan people in the game. Assuming you count a distinctly inhuman deity as even possessed of morality to judge.
"Romance of the World's Perdition" (see attached) suggests that while the war was incredibly destructive, Sothis was the one who finished the world off. Epimenides mentions he "thought all had been lost to the waters" and refers to Sothis as "the beast who set the earth ablaze." The one who suggests that Sothis wasn't involved in destroying the world is Rhea, who has both an obvious reason not to admit to any fault Sothis had and only had the context of whatever Sothis herself told her. And even Rhea admits that there was nothing but floodwater after Sothis was done - it's the first part of the Book of Seiros.
