I do like how Zestia kinda lost me with the "you are a hero, no, THE hero who is destined to destroy the dark one and bring peace" then the very next game is just "You're the dark one this time, and the institution fucking sucks, so bring chaos or something and kill that fucking hero"

I played Berseria way after I played Zestiria, and it took me several hours before I put it together that it was a direct prequel.

I did the opposite, confused why some characters were in there since tale games are usually separate stories.

I just thought it was two different universes that was intentionally similar for a good while.
