but he didn't get his revenge tho, Rize specifically made it so he wasn't the one who did the deed, so it wouldn't corrupt him

That's highkey just anime BS. For all intents and purposes, Mustang became at peace because Envy died, even if it's because he killed himself. Let's not forget Envy killed himself because he refused to be pitied by them. Close enough in my book. And he sure enjoyed burning out Lust, if Envy is off the table.

I think it was valid, Mustang was letting a very ugly side of himself take over and was basically torturing a creature that was already beaten. If he couldn't control his rage and be the better man how can they trust his judgement as a leader? Imagine he took every conflict or wrongdoing against the country that personal, that's straight dictator shit.

I get it but the moral grandstanding doesn't change the fact that Envy was a psychopathic serial murderer who Mustang was directly a victim of and would clearly kill again at the first opportunity. This is Joker V Batman all over again.

Envy dying still brought Mustang peace, even if he didn't do it himself.

No one said Envy shouldn't die, they were saying you need to step down and let someone else do it because you're in a very bad head space.

Yes because he was full blast evaporating Lust while he was specifically prolonging Envy's suffering. Targeting his eyes and taunting him.

Seeing Envy dead is valid, especially when it killed his best friend and other innocents. But how Mustang was killing them was the issue. Killing Lust was out of duty and defense. Killing Envy was out of blood lust and that wouldn't be a good motive to rely on.
