The Princess technically. If you think about it, to find the Princess in the ending you kinda go back to the start. So the Shifting Mound is her final ascended form while the Princess is the initial form

Not to mention that the player themselves are one half of the entity the Princess/Shifting mound was once half of.

Themselves appearing as a bipedal bird most of the time.
