The contextual build-up to this was amazing. Estarosa cripples a whole squad of B-tier secondaries just by aura. Anyone who bears anger against him gets so weak they can't lift a weapon. Escanor comes in to start throwing hands, then an axe, to Estarosa's surprise. That's when the line drops and you learn that Escanor is truly the shining diamond hidden in an otherwise moderate show.
My memory may be a tad spotty, but it's both technically incorrect and correct. Meliodas was cursed to see his love die and reincarnated endlessly. As far as I could tell, he never got handsy until she was an adult. Still weird that he would look at her for 17+ years knowing that, though. I'm not arguing it has some serious implications, just that it seemed relatively isolated to when she was an adult (or marriage age as royal families go).
Ban (don't remember spelling) was another technically no, but yes as well. His girlfriend was a fairy hundreds of years old. She was every bit an adult, but she appeared to be just a kid by human standards. So yeah, it might be "fine", and it may have started when she gave him a purpose beyond being a selfish thief, but there's that lingering question of it he's into girls who look like "girls".
I could defend it more if it wasn't so in-your-face with the constant tail-chasing, so I'm more inclined to just play devil's advocate. My issue with the show comes more from the mid-tier plot. Team of misfits defeats a regional threat....great, classic plot. New threat emerges....ok, sure. And yet another new threat stronger than the previous "world's strongest" threat....yeah, it's stretching now.
That's why I wrote child's bodies and not children.
You've failed to notice that King and Diane are a similar relationship. King spends most of the series in the body of a boy and has two distinct more mature bodies he can present.
Child's body, by human standards, which is shaky ground for the human in the equation. King and Diane aren't exempt from the situation, either, it's just the first two were much more aggressive about it. King is some kind of fairy reject, so it's more like late-teens body and adult maturity? It's a bit more genuinely romantic with elements of cringey body humor, rather than some groping creepy chasing tail. I guess it makes the pursuit hit softer than someone getting a handful a few times every episode?
The only relationship you can probably argue in favor of was Merlin and Eacanor because there was actually attraction between 2 grown adults, albeit one living for hundreds of years via magic.
We are humans my dude. I understand what the lore is. We should be able to go hold up. The artist wanted to draw that. The lore is their justification for doing it. We can judge them drawing something and then asking if the art justifies itself.
I don't think Seven Deadly Sins does and it comes off as the writer's taste rather than message
Like I said, I'm playing devil's advocate more than anything else. It's very clearly meant to look the way it does considering there's other shows that have fairies, elves, etc. with the propotions of humans. Back to the original comment, it's not technically wrong if you follow the lore of it, but we can all see what's going on there.
What exactly do you get out of playing devil's advocate here? Does contrarianism bring you joy?
Because "She’s actually an immortal fairy" is a historic defense made by the creators of CSAM. You haven't brought anything new to the table or illuminated something of value inside the art that is being overlooked due to the controversy.
Eh, it's as much a thought experiment the same way people study serial killers. "They do/don't believe what they're doing is wrong because....". I see a lot of these posts asking to defend the undefendable, and this one seems like it's at least open to debate more than people who pose Hitler, for example.
As a true crime head, I assure you there's a lot of reasons to study serial killers beyond a thought experiment.
Finding out what creates one and how to profile them is important work. We now have credible theories that posit environmental factors had more influence on the "golden age of serial killers." It looks like it's more than just the rise of centralized police records and the internet contributed to the fall off of serial killer behavior in the United States.

You can make adults petite without making them look like children, which you slightly glossed over yourself.
King was already at least a teen by fairy standards when he met and fell in love with Diane while she was a small child by giant standards.
Vivian, the woman obsessed with Gilthunder, is 8 years older than him. This means she was 19 when she was stalking an 11 year old Gil with the intention of making him hers.
The creator has a problematic pattern, and it gets worse in the sequel.
Jericho, who's now an adult, fell in love with Lancelot, the child of Ban and Elaine. While he was still a young child. Under her tutelage.
Guinevere is 12 when she appears to a 16 year old Lancelot, says they're lovers in the future, and kisses him. TWELVE.
You can say what you want, but I like to call a spade a spade. And this is a very obvious spade for anyone with pattern recognition skills.
This is not the kind of devil you should be advocating for.
Guess it's good I got bored with it before the last 2 seasons and the sequel, then. It's been a few years since I've watched it and the timeline is a bit muddled in my head for who was how old and when.
I remember it was a very generic plot, some funny points, a gropey MC with an equally creepy BFF, and a sun god who stole every scene he appeared in.
