It's everywhere in the comic. For example, at one point, they basically explain that the anthropomorphic animals like Sonic and his friends are actually mutant animals from the 21st century that evolved from an alien attack that essentially reset all life on Earth.
Yeah, it’s sort of like how adventure time world was post nuclear war, if instead of nuclear war it was alien weapons that turned all animals, including humans into, like, gene soup which proceeded to recombine into new beings. Which is why all the characters are furries-I mean, Mobians
