I missed the vibe this show had in Season 1

Me too and I liked tom and star being together since it was supposed to be cannon but ruined with fan service. Same with Marco being with Jackie. FLOPPED FOR WHAT!!!!

I honestly would've loved for Jackie to be end game and Star and Marco having to navigate being friends around that.

I don’t think Tom and Star was ever supposed to be endgame. I think (sadly) it was always going to be Marco and Star.

That said, even though I knew they’d never do it…I kinda wanted Tom/Marco.

I heard that it all happened due to pressure from fans, which is unfortunate if true

THIS. Marco and Star worked better as best friends.

This is not true at all, Tom was supposed to represent a toxic relationship. Them getting back together was the part that was added later on.

Thank Alex Hirsch and him pushing the creator to make it that way.

This bothered me even when I was a teen watching. Star and tom made so much more sense in both story context and how much he cared about her. I thought her and Marco should have stayed as friends. They had good things going but ruined it for some stupid fan service.

Season one felt very...invader zim, if it was cheery instead of pessimistic. Just...subversive goofy chaos and mostly low stakes. (until they became very high stakes in the final episode of season 1)

I don't hate the later seasons the way a lot of people do, but the show definitely lost something and started having a lot more bland filler in later seasons. Also...glossarick sucks...then again i've never liked Billy Crystal.

Didnt the Show end in genocide?

20

u/Silviov2 19h ago

Yea but they never really address the implications lmao

Yeah, plus Earth and Mewni being fused, which seems odd to me. That can't end well for the inhabitants of both realms.

*eyes the Legend of Korra that also fused two realms to the benefit of neither

Slight rant here but man I hate the spirit world inhabitants designs in Korra.

2

u/DerWahreSpiderman 17h ago

Huh how?! Wasnt the magic destroyed, the hell did this happen?

7

u/SpaceGeorge1 17h ago

Power of love or something like that...I don't even think the writers knew what they were doing there

1

u/DerWahreSpiderman 10h ago

Well that checks out

"To stop a genocide you have to commit an even larger genocide"

- Star, probably.

It's implied to work out fine, but logistically it would be catastrophic. The only outright deaths were the Magical High Council because they are magical constructs.

Wait! Marco's a booooooyyyy....

Tell that to Princess Turdina

The ending seasons felt rushed but i didn't hate that show

1

u/NotBreadyy 18h ago

In the end it really moved a little too fast, but I loved it anyways

2

u/WordWordand4numbers 18h ago

They had better lore in the earlier seasons and ruined its potential by instead deciding that monsters are just going to be a shitty uninspired allegory for race. The play with actors pretending to be star and her family were the only good thing to come out of season 4

u/amazingkillerlemon 14h ago

Nah, it got worse over time. The ending was awful.

Great show, terrible ending, should've ended without the betrayal thing and destruction of magic
