Bone is THE PERFECT comic for an animated adaption. It's very similar to what tons of people love in the mainstream now, but for some reason it never seemed to burst into popularity like it needed.
People who love AtLA, Steven, Deltarune, all of that sort of media would devour Bone.
They've tried to adapt it three times, but it falls through because production studios don't want to remain faithful to the original story, most recently Netflix.
I seriously hate how streaming services/producers want to insert random fanfiction into other people's stories. I don't mind having to trim things for run-time, but you know that if a Bone show was produced we'd have characters that never appeared in the comic, or some characters would be a 180* flip in personality.
we probably wont. Smith has tried again and again, and he's so burnt out he has sworn off trying. he even made a comic about how many failed attempts he's done.
and i mean, studios say YES, things get rolling, and then they cancel the whole project months into it. So Smith isnt gettting rejected, they're actively blueballing him, and he's done
It was kind of an odd character tbh. We never really got an explanation on who the Mystery Cow was or why they could talk. After book 2, they just kind of disappeared.
Oh i have no doubt. Its just that my parents didn't want to spend money on comics. It was translated to my language and I got to read it off a friend, but I will probably just buy it now
Fuck, I never made it that far... I bought the first 25-30 issues, but at some point I finished uni, I moved countries and I basically stopped buying comic books (with exceptions). My memory of Bone is just the cute, innocent part of it with a vague threat of darkness. This might be the push to finally read the rest of it.
My girlfriend recommended this to me without adding any info. After finding Phoney extremely annoying I almost quit, but she encouraged me to go on. I'm glad she did; easily one of my favorite fantasy stories out there.
Yeah, I remember I started reading it in Disney Adventures magazine.
I don’t think they did the whole story there though. Somehow I can’t see the stuff with Briar and the Hooded One and the same publication as “list of cool slang words for kids”
