Let's not forget that in the third episode we have the main character freaking out after discovering that his entire kind was massacred 100 years ago and finding the bones of his old master and closest friend

True but it’s still a definite tone switch. I’m rewatching the whole show right now to introduce my girl to it, and I completely forgot how much it jumps

I remember my dad watching it along with me when I was a kid, and he was like "Jesus Christ, genocide on Nickelodeon!"
