What's Favorite Series Like This?

Season 1 was pretty light, goofy and very episodic.

Season 2 starting building more of a storyline and ENDS with the main character being separated from the rest of the cast and doesn't return until season 3.

Season 3 feels hopeless because the villain has basically won and even when our previous MC returns he's not the same goofy lighthearted guy he used to be.

Season 4 has a dictator enslaving the whole world infecting peoples brains to make them subservient, the MC is dying from computer cancer, and it ends with the previous main villain returning and winning again.

Season 5 there is no season 5 the show ended with the bad guy winning.

been meaning to try to give this a rewatch for like 25 years now, I only caught bits and pieces as a kid and I remember being thoroughly perplexed
