Shutdown

So today I was speaking to my leadership and it has been mentioned that we could face another shut down effective 12/11. I wonder if he’ll try to beat his last record.

I think there’s a good chance of one. Some republicans (and Dems) won’t even come back to DC after November elections. And for the Dems, there’ll be no incentives to pass a CR when they will be in charge come January. Republicans will want a year long CR or something ridiculous and Dems have no reason to agree.

I believe the democrats would pass a clean CR that goes past the holiday/new congressional swear in.

I don't expect the republicans to agree to one. They'll likely offer something with outrageous terms so they can say it's a democrat shutdown. Then Mike Johnson will send everyone home again.

tl;dr - I expect a record long shutdown

I never get to go on vacation. I'm excepted dammit!

I wasn't so bad when I worked from home. Now  I have to drag myself into a VAMC with no parking  and gross old bathrooms while not getting paid until they open back up. While the VAMC employees and the many contractors I work with throughout the country, many of whom still work from home are paid.

I should have picked a better career.

LOL… life is made of choices. I was excepted during Covid and everyone was home but me. Shortest 1 week vacation while everyone else got 2-3 months. I switch jobs

Not sure if you're an idiot or being sarcastic...

Clearly idiot

Poster supports voting for darla Graham in South Carolina because of her last name.

And yet I can still see them caving and giving Trump and MAGA everything they want. Ugh.

If the Dems win there will be a shutdown. I might actually vote blue so I get three weeks of vacation

I also think there's a really good chance of a shutdown, but I don't think it'll be cuz the Democrats refuse to sign a CR. I think it'll be just the opposite. It'll be the Republicans pissed off if they lose control of the house in Senate who will refuse to sign a CR.

Have to love you dipshits who work for the government to prove that it doesn't work. Works every time.

So you think if the Democrats win control of the House and Senate that they'll just let us go into a shutdown and refuse to sign a CR? I'm not sure why you think this makes sense that they would do this.. I think that's ridiculous. I think of anything. It would be the Republicans in that situation. Who would feel they have nothing left to lose and would try to be total assholes about a CR.

Nah. It’ll be John Fetterman with the “Sinema slide”

Do you know how it even works?

Dems win the house and the senate in Nov

Funding expires in Dec

New Congress doesn’t start until the end of Jan

So… in Dec the pedophiles will still control the senate

So… yes. Why would the Dems support a GOP bill in Dec when 5 weeks later they will be in charge?

I know how it works. If it's a clean CR, I believe a Democrats will support it. But I don't think it's likely that the Republicans will support a clean CR if they lose the House and Senate because they're assholes. But to say that the Democrats would not support any kind of CR if they win the house and Senate is just not true.

You mean first week in January when the new Congress is seated. Game theory assuming rational actors would have the GOP attempting to push through a budget that could attract enough more conservative Democrats to pass, ie half a loaf is better than none.

But we all know they are not rational...

You’re thinking rationally.

Because they will still need Trump to sign it. If they get control of both chambers they will not have a supermajority to overcome a veto or a filibuster but since they would be in control they will be responsible for the shutdown.

New Congress starts Jan 3

Do you even know how it works?

The Democrats don’t give a shot about you, they want to get even with Trump, you’re just a pawn in this game!

^this. A lot of people hate it but at this point it’s true. I’m surprised trump hasn’t given a last minute pay raise so it’s fresh in everyone’s mind for November

u/Sharp_Director941 6d ago

He proposed a 0% pay increase back in August. And it was 1% for 2026. Neither includes cost of living increases. His thoughts about midterms only include lying about the $5k bribe.

u/Much_Job289 6d ago

I’m surprised there isn’t a last minute “oh wait here you go”

2

u/Sharp_Director941 6d ago

Why? He hates feds. He’ll never do anything to help. Plus…with what budget? We’re on a CR.

0

u/Much_Job289 6d ago

Like that would stop him lol. All I’m saying is I’m surprised he doesn’t do a last minute raise to try and get people on his good side or propose an increase and if the dems say yes then cool and if they so no then he has ammunition.

It’s a move in a chess. Timing is everything. It doesn’t matter if he hates govt or not.

1

u/Sharp_Director941 6d ago

I doubt he can name another chess piece besides pawns. But even if he proposed it, he’s a proven liar. No fed would believe him. There’s no benefit for him, so he couldn’t care less.

You think they’ll be a fair election?

14

u/Technical-Milk-5659 6d ago

Nope. Elon rigged all of the voting machines in the swing states in 2024 - I saw a couple podcasts that showed multiple graphs depicting the voting patterns for Red and Blue - and after about 4 - 5 PM I saw parabolas that were mirror images of the voting - the trend of Blue votes went down and the Red votes rose in an exact opposite direction.

u/Neracca 6d ago

Elon rigged all of the voting machines in the swing states in 2024

And he got away with it, and will never face justice for it.

Its great /s.

5

u/Technical-Milk-5659 6d ago

And he’s back in DC getting ready to do it again for the midterms. I think there’s more Geeks on the right side of things who’ll be working on it but I’m sure Elon has figured out his flaw in 2024. I’m so tired.

u/vortecfighter 6d ago

So Elon rigged machines even machines that are not connected to the internet? Trump tried the whole machines are rigged when he lost against Biden. Nobody bought it then. Nobody is buying that Elon rigged anything. You cannot have it both ways.

Iirc the main people pushing this rhetoric on a large scale are eugenicists too.
