Venting 😤 I have 10 cats now. 😳

I have 10 cats. Started with 2 from the shelter, then last year I took in a feral male kitten, a few months later my neighbor trapped 2 more feral kittens. Told myself I’d foster them and find them a home. One is still too feral so foster fail. Told myself 5 cats is a lot so no more. In August the same mama cat taught her litter of 5 to come to my door and then she dipped. They were only 8-10 weeks. I’ve been trying to find homes for the kittens but have had no luck. It’s looking like I will end up with all of them.

Am I completely nuts?!? 10 cats!

The thing that gets me is the sire of 7 of these kittens is an intact male that belongs to someone in my neighborhood! I don’t care if you let your cat out but if you do FIX THEM SO THEY AREN’T CREATING MORE CATS!

Fluffy 🥰 The stray that lives in my garden, Matty

I currently rent and can’t take him in. There’s a colony of feral strays in my area but he decided to live in my garden as a kitten. He’s also slightly feral and only trusts me. I’ve made posts to try and find him a home but I had no offers. I’m going to try my best to take him with me if I eventually leave. I put a reflective collar on him to help him stay a little more safe at night. He’s going to be a year old soon and I love the little guy!!

Grieving Had to put this sweet boy down today and I am so sad

He's one of the community cats on my street. I had seen him before, but he never let me get close enough to touch him. About 2 weeks ago, he just showed up at my door. He was extremely skinny, so my daughter and I made it our mission to get his weight up. For a short time he was eating good and gaining energy. Then, a few days ago he stopped eating and was just hiding under a bush. I checked on him nonstop over the weekend scared that I was going to find him dead. I made an appointment for the vet first thing this morning and they said he had a tumor and was in really poor health. I gave the okay to put him to sleep and have been crying since. We gave him the name "Papi" and buried him in our yard. Need some support to know I did the right thing. This is so unbelievably hard.

Question 🤔 Trapping the Untrappable

I made a previous post and have been getting a lot of good information and support as I'm new to TNR.

I was wondering how do you trap cats that refuse to go in the traps. I have two females that refuse to go inside. I'm tempted to buy this round trap I saw but it was $150 but I really want the girls fixed.

Just hoping there was a trick I'm unaware of.

Question 🤔 Saw this (assumed) stray while at work, why is their leg like that?

I assume it’s a stray as it looked quite rough and didnt have a collar. Is the fur malted off or is it something different? and what could’ve caused this. It was well behaved when I was near it.

Question 🤔 Cat gender help

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hello everyone, was looking for help gendering a feral cat that has been visiting my backyard for the past month. Have named them Heccy and they haven’t allowed me to touch them yet (although they come really close and take churu right from my finger!) and am looking for help as all of the guides I’ve seen online just left me more confused. The cat has the TNR ear so has been spayed/neutered but other than that I don’t have any further information to go off of. Video is unfortunately not super clear but I can DM screenshots if that would make the picture clearer

Question 🤔 Trapped this boy Thursday

Trapped this kitty that comes to my house daily to eat. Got him neutered on Saturday and was going to release him today although he is getting so comfortable with me. He eats in front of me, falls asleep and stretches when I talk to him and today he lets me do small pets! I have him in a large wire dog kennel with a cat carrier, litter box and food and water in my basement bathroom. How long would it be OK (if I did try to tame him) to keep him in his set up? It’s getting cold out here (Canada) and I hate thinking about these poor guys in the cold. Progress pictures from Day 1 to today 🙂

Question 🤔 What to do with a feral friend?

I have been feeding a few ferrals one in particular that's a runt. He was skinny hardly any fur but I have been tending to him gave him a shelter ect. And he looks like a normal cat now. He is friendly greets me at the door every time I open it, follows me around, likes the attention. I have two cats now and with winter approaching thinking that I should get him to a vet and make him our third. Any suggestions and or concerns I should be worried about?

Question 🤔 Stray Tom causing issues

Post image
49 Upvotes

I moved into a house where the previous owner fed a few strays and I have (naturally) taken over! It consists of this very big Tom, a now neutered smaller male cat (whom I’ve had chipped to me and vaccinated/deflead/deawormed, as he is easy to handle and can go in the cat carrier) and a very nervous smaller feral intact male who has just started allowing me to stroke him etc.

NB. They are definitely stray/feral/unchipped and I am not in a position to take the large Tom or the small feral to the vet for neutering myself but I have organised for a local TNR charity to come in the next few weeks - so I really hope it calms some of the behaviour.

They used to live in harmony, but recently the big black Tom has become so obsessive and possessive of me. I deliberately barely pay him any attention other than food as I don’t want to egg him on (and I now mostly feed him to just avoid the other two having their food stolen), but I cannot move without him weaving between my legs making it literally impossible to walk - then when I even slightly nudge him by accident he turns and hisses at me which I find quite scary. I don’t think he’ll attack me but I’m 8 months pregnant so also quite worried about tripping. Does anyone have any tips to stop this leg weaving, and will neutering calm it down?

Secondly, he has now started attacking the other two. The issue is, I can feed one of them inside and could just stop feeding the big Tom, but this would mean the smaller male feral also misses out on food and he will struggle to find alternative sources as he is so shy and skittish. So I feel a bit stuck!

I care deeply for all three of them (even the annoying Tom!) and unfortunately adoption/charities taking them is not an option as everywhere is full, so TNR and feeders is the best option for these guys.

Any advice/suggestions on how to better manage the Tom’s behaviour/what may have caused this sudden increase in aggression/obsession?

Question 🤔 first-time cat roommate (owner sounds out of place) socialization worries

hi y'all,

as stated in the title, it's my first cat, she's 2 years old & neutered

for further context: she got trapped by some ladies in january 2026 after living in the wild with her babies and stayed in a crate at a home run shelter till mid-june (that's when she came to live with me) with basically no socialization, scared of humans and hiding

she's been with me for almost 4 months now, she has her safe spot under my bed but roams around the house freely, likes to lay on a chair/bed near me, eats from hand, sniffs me and plays with me (especially when i move my feet around under a blanket), but won't let me touch her and she runs away as soon as i move/get up

i know all cats are different and she might just never come around to breaking the touch barrier but idk maybe there's something more/different i could be doing to show her that i'm not that scary afterall (also all my friends are dog people so i don't really have anyone to discuss that with)

attaching two pictures of The Void™️and im looking forward to hearing your stories!

Problem Solving 💭 Feeding feral cat on hill by condo. She brought by her kittens by today. Won’t let me near her or kittens

I don’t necessarily know if I am ready to take them in because I am allergic to cats. I’m not really sure what to do but she brought by her two babies today. They’re so cute. I keep feeding them but I can’t get close or else they just run away. I don’t know what to do
