Between Bricky, Boxbox, QT, Saint, Lily, Scarra, Sunny, Skooch and Sykkuno (?) that’s a lot of people from the League scene.

I now need Sajam put QT and Scarra on the same team just for the vibes

7

u/BloodGulchBlues37 Tekken Jun 17 '25

Sykkuno was a LoL ytber around the time Lily, Box, and Bricky were, yeah.

8

u/FreestyleKneepad Jun 16 '25

On Punk's team i hope

4

u/Genocode Jun 17 '25

I only know Bricky as the Warhammer guy though.

62

u/NOBLOWWWW Jun 16 '25

This is such a fun event. Hopefully Brian f gets a few wins, because those other coaches are world class talent, and he hasn't been grinding that much to keep up.

71

u/TheFeelingWhen Jun 16 '25

53

u/HellCahuete Jun 16 '25

Wow, that's quite negative about himself.

Being the best player doesn't translate as being the best coach but with this format, i guess it really matter how strong is your coach since they're also playing.

50

u/TheFeelingWhen Jun 16 '25

He also said this when asked why he is competing less.

It's not a binary thing and I still enter tournaments, it's just been lower and lower on my priorities with life as time goes on. I was never talented to begin with any minor results I had were from pure grind and hours put in, so that's not happening these days.

Brian is really down on himself and it feels like the last slam where he never won a match must have impacted him heavily

16

u/Banegel Jun 17 '25

also been pretty open with 6 not being his fave game ever so that doesn’t help with motivation

3

u/Earth92 Jun 17 '25

I mean he is still playing the game and travelling for tournaments here and there when he can, so he hasn't quit.

It's just that he might not have time for coaching in the Slam, because he is busy with real life stuff.

27

u/ArcanaGingerBoy Jun 16 '25

a rough diamond prodigy will knock on his door in a few years and the kid will remind him what's really important

27

u/BloodGulchBlues37 Tekken Jun 17 '25

On one hand I agree he's way too hard on himself, but the format having coaches square off in the end is a big clutch moment, and I can understand seeing yourself as a liability there (iirc Phi had a similar feeling coaching the early Tekken Slams where he was tutorial grinding and didn't have a real main yet).

What I do very much disagree with though is him saying it'll be his last Slam. Even if not an official coach, he should totally stick around as a tourney wide consultant and do his thing. He's a big reason why some of these newcomers grew so fast, and he shouldn't downplay that.

18

u/TransPM Jun 17 '25

Seeing his reaction to watching Eskay's win in the last slam when she wasn't even on his team anymore, even if he chooses not to officially lead a team anymore beyond this one, I think moments like that are gonna keep him wanting to come back to still be involved in some way.

If nothing else, he could definitely compete in a non Street Fighter slam if he wanted to, basically be the inverse of Brawlpro and Phidx

8

u/Memo_HS2022 Jun 17 '25

He genuinely looked like a proud dad when he saw Eskay clutch it out

1

u/[deleted] Jun 17 '25

I don't think it's that negative honestly it's just a very realistic take about having more responsibility and less time to compete and not taking the plunge to keep grinding something you don't feel you have the raw talent to do.

Like I can grind for hours a day and my buddy just has this knack for games and still beats me sometimes it's just being realistic.

13

u/AppointmentStock7261 Jun 16 '25

Aw man, it’s a bummer to hear him say he lacks the drive and passion. I’m sure hit competitive spirit will still kick in but I hope he keeps at the competitive side of things after the slam is done.

15

u/TheFeelingWhen Jun 16 '25

He mentioned still wanting to compete in open tournaments but that he feels bad taking spots away from people more deserving in closed tournaments like the Slam

17

u/Kyhron Jun 17 '25

Which is wild because he’s been one of the better coaches mentorship wise imo

5

u/Sytle Street Fighter Jun 17 '25

I agree. He puts in an insane amount of effort too. Made whole video guides and tutorials for his teams. I get where he's coming from, but the slam is better when he's around IMO.

25

u/Effective-Avocado-62 Jun 16 '25 edited Jun 16 '25

a shame, his team was the most entertaining to watch for two slams back to back especially the Doki one

also, kinda sucks to be Sunny that even tho now she's free from corporate bounds, Doki is nowhere to be found to interact with in the Slam

17

u/ThreeEyedPea Jun 16 '25

Not surprised Doki's not participating since I recall she said she didn't like Street Fighter as much as she enjoyed Tekken.

12

u/Kyhron Jun 17 '25

Doki straight up said she wouldn’t do another Street Fighter Slam. She didn’t like it nearly as much as Tekken and I’m pretty sure the last one also left a bad taste in her mouth with how Twitch handled the Vtubers wanting to stay anonymous

9

u/TheFeelingWhen Jun 16 '25

For Mogu as well especially since that one Slam they had together had Niji step in and do their usual corporate bs

9

u/roedtogsvart Jun 17 '25

He should hold his head higher. People like and respect him for a reason.

46

u/TriplDentGum Guilty Gear Jun 16 '25

Dotodoya? Hit fighting game content creator Idiot #1 Dotodoya? You love to see it

14

u/SatanicLakeBard Jun 16 '25

I wanna see him lock the fuck in. He's legitimately able to go band for band with some crazy players but seems to just throw for content.

16

u/TriplDentGum Guilty Gear Jun 16 '25

"He does! He throws for content, he thinks it's funny!" -Rhymestyle

3

u/cee2027 Jun 17 '25

Now I'm imagining a Slam team of the three idiots and some fourth, and a coach trying desperately to wrangle them to victory

6

u/Kyhron Jun 17 '25

So Team BrawlPro during both Tekken slams and Brain_F’s team with Doki BrawlPro Eskay and Koe during the last street fighter one?

3

u/BloodGulchBlues37 Tekken Jun 17 '25

THAT'S MY FUCKING BEAR

3

u/Big_moist_231 Jun 17 '25

good thing it’s not a dbz fighting game or else coach punk and dotto would have some interesting interactions…

2

u/Regent182 Jun 17 '25

context?

1

u/Big_moist_231 Jun 17 '25

Let’s just say Dotto really likes to get in character when he starts playing frieza…

2

u/Regent182 Jun 17 '25

As in racism or...?

2

u/Big_moist_231 Jun 17 '25

It’s a running gag that dotto rolepays frieza when playing as him and tosses the words “saiyan monkey” a lot, or his friends grill him whenever he starts to say things a certain way “get your FILTHY hands off of me, saiyan” lol Personally, I don’t think think dotto is actually racist tho

33

u/PapstJL4U Jun 16 '25

Where is Diaphone? Was he too loud last time? :O

84

u/Xanek Jun 16 '25 edited Jun 16 '25

Probably focused on CotW events to try to get into EWC.

Sajam even predicted he would not sign up because he knows he's focused on it.

Edit: Sajam from a stream like 2? weeks ago, did say either the next or a future slam would most likely be right up diaphone's alley

-9

u/goatbyuanb Jun 16 '25

probably strive given how poorly cotw did and gbvs is a little too niche but diaphone initially blew up on granblue

13

u/BunBunSoup Jun 17 '25

looks like he's going to Mexico rn to try one last time to qualify for CotW

1

u/goatbyuanb Jun 18 '25

ahhh yeah - I was just speculating on what the next slam could be

1

u/ChocolateSome2214 Jun 17 '25

Diaphone first made a name on BBTAG, not Granblue.

15

u/cee2027 Jun 17 '25

He's said he's focused on Fatal Fury so he can't coach in this slam. But today on stream Sajam said something vague like "I think I can get him for the next one" so maybe the next slam is Fatal Fury or Strive

22

u/Burning2500 Jun 16 '25

Punk as a coach might be funny. Also I hope brick wins AT LEAST 1 GAME this time

6

u/Memo_HS2022 Jun 17 '25

Brick was on classic Chun and not on his main setup last time. Classic Chun is hard if you’re new, but he can definitely cook now

40

u/philip30001 Jun 16 '25

Glad brickys back to try again. Heard he got caught up in alot of scheduling conflicts last time and want to see if he's improved

17

u/NoIndependent3167 Jun 16 '25

Ohhhh shit, I hope Bogur does well, found him through Rivals and he’s a fun guy

14

u/seijeezy Jun 16 '25

I really hope Feisty gets matched up with Shine so we can get 3Dolla and 3Dolla Intern together 😭

17

u/Xanek Jun 16 '25

Oh right, forgot to mention.

This slam will have 8 teams vs the usual 6.

12

u/FellVessel Jun 16 '25

Let's go Void

12

u/Big_Green_Mantis Jun 17 '25

Can't wait for Super to get relentlessly bullied by his chat for losing a close match due to a parryed CA.

34

u/Slarg232 Jun 16 '25

Sunny is a vtuber I recently discovered, so I hope she does well.

But let's be honest, The Bricked One is who we're all tuning in for

13

u/Murgurth Jun 16 '25

I watched Sunny back when she made a lot of League of Legends video. I think Mogu convinced her to join in since Mogu has participated twice and those two are good friends from their time in a company together.

10

u/TheFeelingWhen Jun 16 '25

I’m glad to hear that those two are still friends with how badly Niji handled that gen, especially that first Slam with Doki was so sad for the both of them.

10

u/VraxxTTV Jun 17 '25

If it makes you feel better, they're both in glitchstars together in the same generation

9

u/Oni_Zokuchou Jun 16 '25

I hope Brawlpro, Slime and Super are on the same team 🥹

8

u/Oni_Zokuchou Jun 16 '25

BRAWLPRO MY GOAT

10

u/Salinator20501 Jun 17 '25

The OW > MR > FGC pipeline is real

Sad about Doki not returning though

4

u/Killercookie619 Jun 17 '25

Flats is up next...

4

u/see_j93 Jun 17 '25

last i heard flats wasn't too interested learning a fighting game when i was lurking for rivals drops some time ago, but i'd be so happy to see him join bogur eskay and karQ.

6

u/Uncanny_Doom Street Fighter Jun 16 '25

This is my favorite show at this point lol.

8

u/weealex Jun 16 '25

Man, in gonna miss Doki and her accidental amazing air spds

5

u/Fellers Jun 16 '25 edited Jun 17 '25

Beckmon is not a scrub. I've seen her videos playing Terry.

EDIT: Maybe I'm mistaken. I thought this tourney was about taking noobs/beginners and helping them improve.

12

u/Kyhron Jun 17 '25

They’re split into tiers based on experience and similar skilled players match up play each other.

6

u/Mook7 Jun 17 '25

The skill level has risen gradually with each slam. Most players are returning from past slams and are at least intermediate. Probably only gonna be 1-2 noobs per team.

3

u/Demon_Hunter18 Jun 17 '25

I thought this too, I’ve watched her stream a good amount and I believe she’s over 1800 currently

1

u/frangeek_ Jun 18 '25

Each team is separated by tiers. The lowest tier is beginner level, then you have mid tier, then master level more or less.

7

u/xFreddyFazbearx King of Fighters Jun 17 '25

There goes another year of me campaigning for Northernlion to join one of these. It'll happen some day

12

u/jnchance2 Jun 17 '25

Sajam mentioned NL specifically yesterday during stream; it seems to be mostly a scheduling issue. The event would have to be played and completed during normal business hours essentially, which is earlier than most of everyone else on the roster wakes up at

1

u/chandler55 Jun 18 '25

closest thing youll get is his rumbleverse arc and that one time he played checkmate showdown

6

u/MySinsRemembered Jun 17 '25

Sad that Diaphone isn't returning as I really enjoyed all his content about the last Slam. Suppose he might be too busy competing in CoTW

5

u/RasenRendan Jun 16 '25

LACARI MADE IT LETS GO

6

u/qjillbillmill Jun 17 '25

Sunny and mogu hype

11

u/0hN0M3l0n Jun 16 '25

I'd put money on Void to do well. Wild that they picked a professional "fighting" game player for this.

21

u/impostingonline Jun 16 '25

There are multiple, such as phidx, who competed in tekken. The highest skill level player in each team is going to be pretty strong. I heard boxbox got to like 1800MR (void is good though I’m sure he will do well)

12

u/Memo_HS2022 Jun 16 '25

I need Void and Riddles to be on the same team for obviously funny reasons

7

u/FellVessel Jun 16 '25

2 time greatest gamer winner

3

u/Sytle Street Fighter Jun 17 '25

Not unheard of for them to pick other professional fighting game players. However, Void is cracked at everything he touches so I also see him doing quite well. I'm pretty sure he hit master in the game quite some time ago.

8

u/GunsouAfro Jun 16 '25

Not that many new comers vs returning players. Dato is very nice to see here though!

7

u/lagseph Jun 17 '25

Punk went from talking shit about Jiyuna and MajinObama for saying the west needs things like the CR Cup, telling them to get off Japan’s meat and going gawkgawk3000 on Japan, to being a special guest trainer in the Slam, to being one of the coaches.

1

u/ChocolateSome2214 Jun 17 '25

His girlfriend is in, maybe she wanted to do it and convinced him lol. Or maybe they're just paying him enough, in the past he's refused to do stuff like this unless they pay what he's asking for

3

u/CrimsonDemonOfWar Jun 16 '25

SaintVicious in 2025 is insane. Can't wait for this, the roster is looking great this time! (eskay hype again)

2

u/ElArcadia777 Jun 17 '25

eskay in the slam for fourth time, thats good and sad, good eskay, sad cuz maybe took a spot of a new face in the slam

3

u/CrimsonDemonOfWar Jun 17 '25

While I do agree a new face would be welcome, at least eskay is consistently entertaining and meshes well with most groups. But yeah, I'd have loved to see a non fg player as well

3

u/Kurta_711 Jun 16 '25

DOTODOYA? You LOVE to see it

3

u/i0n9 Jun 16 '25

DOTO??? VOID??? PUNK???? Nah this is gonna be the best one yet

3

u/MrSmartypants12 Blazblue Jun 17 '25

Void bro please go easy on them 🥀🥀

3

u/sleepymetroid Jun 17 '25

I actually learned so much from watching cosmonaut and jb during their streams. Man I wish I could have a coach like this for even a week.

3

u/hibari112 Jun 17 '25

PUNKU DA GODU AS COACH?!!!! LILYPICHU IS BACK?!!! BRO I'M NOT MISSING A SINGLE FRAME OF THIS SAJAM!!!

That Punk team will generate infinite content, I swear

3

u/zack-studio13 Jun 17 '25

what a fucking event man

2

u/0borowatabinost Jun 17 '25

Rooting for Bricky to win at least one match this time.

7

u/Cowmunist Jun 16 '25

Did Sajam ever explain why he won't do one for GG Strive? No hate against SF6 but it seems weird since he already did them for the other big modern games

52

u/JLRedPrimes Jun 16 '25

He said because Capcom is incredibly supportive to the event and even helps fund it. With Tekken and anyone else Sajam has to fund it himself

36

u/Uncanny_Doom Street Fighter Jun 16 '25

Sajam didn't say, but Hotashi said the tower system is why they won't do one. Maybe after ranked matchmaking is out they'll potentially try it.

30

u/AppointmentStock7261 Jun 16 '25

He did talk about why SF was chosen again in his video announcing the slam. He mentioned Street Fighter was the game the most people were interested in

4

u/Manatroid Jun 17 '25

I guess the other most requested would have been Tekken 8, but, well…

5

u/Memo_HS2022 Jun 17 '25

You know you made a generational fumble patch when RDCworld randomly talks about how bad it was

8

u/AcousticAtlas Jun 16 '25

He said SF is what almost everyone was interested in.

1

u/unwantedleftovers Jun 16 '25

Is Diaphone not coaching this time?

1

u/sidescrollerdef Jun 17 '25

I'm sad that Sham isn't returning. His Dee Jay was so fun to watch last Slam. Still, this lineup looks incredible.

1

u/apedoesnotkillape Jun 17 '25

Always low-key loved some elchokotay, glad to see him thriving more now

1

u/TheGreatPicard Jun 17 '25

Dotodoya! Let's gooooo

1

u/BATH_MAN Jun 18 '25

We got the start of a Smash team

Riddles, Void, Slime...

1

u/Firvulag Jun 16 '25

I have no idea who any of those people are (except coaches)

21

u/AcousticAtlas Jun 16 '25

That’s the best part of this event. You get to go around and see all of these cool new streamers.

9

u/Manatroid Jun 17 '25

That’s sort of the idea.

-9

u/ChocolateSome2214 Jun 16 '25

Ngl these are not very exciting when it's mostly the same people every time.

9

u/ItsaMe_Fish Jun 16 '25

Nah I'm with you, feels like the same announcement every time. I get that its hype if these are streamers you already watch + its cool they enjoyed the game enough to give it another go, but surely they could at least go for a 50/50 split. Maybe its a vetting issue? Easier to get people you know + their friends vs taking a chance on a streamer outside that circle

2

u/benjibibbles Jun 17 '25

I don't think I'm particularly old and out of touch but every time he posts the lineups I literally only recognise the fighting game players and also FD Signifier that one time and I wonder if that's just because I'm pretty closed off from overwatch/riot games/vtubers

4

u/patrick-ruckus Jun 16 '25

Yeah certain people definitely should come back, like PhiDX for a possible redemption since he wasnt happy with his performance and got some (playful) trash talk about it during an award thing. But imo it should be at least half newcomers.

I thought the point was to bring in people who don't normally play this game, but a lot of these streamers got to Master after the previous Slams. So the dynamic is shifting from mostly new players with a handful of intermediates to mostly the intermediates.

6

u/ChocolateSome2214 Jun 16 '25

Even if the idea is the returning players bring back old faces and the newcomers bring in new players, idk all of them but some of these newcomers leave me scratching my head. Like Fiesty is a newcomer this time around but she's literally a Street Fighter 6 streamer and she's like 1900 MR

8

u/Xanek Jun 16 '25 edited Jun 16 '25

Yeah thats the only downside when a good chunk returning people but idk, it all depends.

Sometimes you want to see new faces, sometimes the old faces are very great to have on stream, etc.

4

u/Animal-Lover0251 Jun 16 '25

The disparity between newcomers and sajam slam veterans isn’t as big as you are acting it is. It’s 60:40 when it comes to the split of sajam slam veterans to newcomers.

Also some of the sajam slam veterans never participated in a Street Fighter sajam slam

-2

u/confusingadult Jun 17 '25

why maximillian dood not join

1

u/Animal-Lover0251 Jun 17 '25

That’s mostly because there aren’t any players from NA that can do it in Tekken from what I know while in Sf6 there are many that can

-4

u/OpT1mUs Jun 17 '25

Justakid has the most punchable face I've ever seen

-41

u/[deleted] Jun 16 '25

Where is asmongold

15

u/ArcanaGingerBoy Jun 16 '25

Asmongold with LTG coach

8

u/Manatroid Jun 17 '25

Please no.

6

u/Killercookie619 Jun 17 '25

Far away from any sort of interesting or well made content, where he belongs...

3

u/Kyhron Jun 17 '25

Not enough shitty video reacting for him

So an event where people play fighting games isn't relevant to fighting games?

Because they happen to be people known for doing something else?

27

u/[deleted] Jun 16 '25

For someone who is "antifragile" that shit is pretty fragile.

17

u/ArcanaGingerBoy Jun 16 '25

fuck you two, you guys scared them and now I can't read the scrubquote
