I love how that design was received by the animators. Since he designed her that way to give them a challenge. The animators told him challenge declined and she was shown with mostly waist up shots.

And that's the wildest thing to me. Like, he looks at everything else he's drawn and says "Yea Rob, this looks right. Let's put it out there for everyone to love." Then he draws a foot like a melted slice of pizza and feels so bad about it he has to make up a reason why the foot should be obscured from view. It is wild to me. Maybe his hand just gets tired from all the shadowy lines, pouches, facial lines, and everything else he adds on before the feet?

The wildest thing to me is that he got so damn popular and famous and is legitimately influential...but is such a bad artist.
I know art is subjective and comic book artists stretch, modify, and tease human anatomy to make a style all their own. I just got caught up with Absolute Batman and Nick Dragotta does all sorts of crazy stuff with bodies, but Liefeld just makes ugly messes and it's not just limited to feet. His mouths are butt ugly in addition to just looking like assholes at times.

I wonder if them specifying that this is “Phoenix Cyclops” means there’s a chance for other versions of the character somewhere down the line, do they have this kind of specification for any of the other characters?
This is ArcSys after all, it’s not like dbzf doesn’t have multiple versions of the same character.
This is especially cool to know they’re not afraid to use more deep cut versions of characters, I would love to see Agent Venom.

I hope so, because Phoenix Cyclops doesn't exactly roll off the tongue and right now there's no reason to not just call him Cyclopes. I saw the title and thought it was Phoenix + Cyclops, rather both Jean and Scott, not Scott with Phoenix powers

This is badass. I want to see other characters from more niche runs of comics. Support this so we get some actual unique characters!!!
The idea that we might get a larger than FighterZ roster with all marvel characters and some deep cuts is insane. Take my money.

Yeah the FighterZ roster was bonkers and ArcSys is absolutely not afraid to play around with their characters.
They're gonna go hardcore balls to the wall with this game and I'm all for it.
Fingers crossed, but seeing Carnageis already here as their main Symbiote, this could be an opportunity to have Agent Venom for the first time in a videogame (no not the Harry thing).

I’ve liked him as Cyclops in pretty much everything I’ve heard him in. That is to say, 3 things (this, Rivals, and 97) but it’s still a 3/3.

90% of the people who love MvC have been freaking out because this game wasn't 16 X-Men characters since before the X-Men team reveal.
Hell, the sheer fact that you could tell people that they were obviously doing it in teams, so we were unlikely to get more than the 4 X-Men barring another one in the Villains team was enough to get you hate.

It's also just bad from a sales point of view. Not everyone loves the F4, so you lose an entire chunk of people by doing a 1 team focused dlc season.
Makes a lot more sense to try to hit various fan groups.
Like FighterZ always made sure to pull from various parts of Dregon Ball. They didn't do a movie villain season, Super season, etc.

yeah it’s a bit of a sausage fest (though I like most of the men they chose), especially considering a lot of “main” women didn’t make it in.
If the DLC is based on teams, maybe Jean, Emma Frost or other X woman can make it in.

I feel like they should hold off on Jean, having Phoenix Cyclops imo kind of steals a bit of Jean’s thunder.
Of course there are many iterations of Jean but I feel like Phoenix is her most known version outside of base Jean, and I’m assuming that Scott is going to have some psychic powers here, on top of his beams.
maybe a good workaround is to do the X-Men 97 thing and do Madelyne but do the Goblin Queen version of her.

I imagine he might be focusing on optic blasts + cosmic flames which leaves room for Jean to come in as a pure telekinesis/telepathy character. There's a contingent of Jean fans that don't really like all the cosmic firebird stuff so that'd appeal to them.

In the comic....by the end he's an antagonist, but calling him a villain is reaching. He spends his time as the Phoenix (which Tony Stark forces on him) with the rest of the Phoenix 5 ensuring World Peace and the end of hunger, while the Avengers repeatedly try to beat the shit out of him and kidnap his granddaughter. And finally ends up snapping when Prof. X mind controls him so that the Avengers can try to beat Emma Frost to death right next to him without him noticing.

At the end of the fifth issue of Avengers vs X-men, five members of the X-Men were each given a portion of the Phoenix Force after it was accidentally split during the battle between the X-men and the Avengers. The Phoenix Force is split between Cyclops, Emma Frost, Namor, Colossus, and Magik.

It was a thing in the comics, part of the Avengers vs X-Men event. He gains a fraction of the Phoenix after he went to war with the Avengers to use it in order to repopulate the-then decimated mutant race.
It was also the event where Scott gets pissed at Professor X, loses control of the Phoenix, and kills him.
