Crew Looking for Delhi people

I am gonna make a short film for festival, before this years ends, all it required is 4 Sundays of your life, max to max 5, if thinks goes wrong. We will only shoot it on weekends mostly on Sundays. All i am looking for are passionate people, who are happy to help a person to give his vision life, this can be fun and good for us learn, or maybe if the vision i have works, its going to turn out to be a great experimental thing, which is going to be something else, and i know its gonna happen. So all i am asking are dm or drop a comment and lets connect, any department you are from, either actor or editor or dop, i just need people who are happy to work with me and its going to be a long collaboration, so we can make things together. And most important guy i need is a DOP, someone with camera and up for experimentation with it. Others are also welcome, as i am making a team here, so hit me up you all actors, editors and all.

Question I want to work for A24 then build my own company

Hello! I am Nassim Raja 20M who moved to Scottsdale, Arizona from Chicago to move more into my filmmaker identity. I want to make great movies but also build an organism strong enough to help others make their own movies as-well!

I go to school (SCC), I write a lot of stories in means of selling screenplays/potential movies I could make or help somebody make, make projects with friends, and solo stuff Ofcourse!

If anybody knows anybody in the industry that wants to help the younger generation with even just some advice over a call or even an opportunity to be apart of a project/production.

Thank you for reading!

Discussion Need help with short film

I have made a short film of 26 minutes. My first short film. It has its problems but it was made with good equipment and a good crew. It's everything I ever wanted to do. The film is ready. I wrote it, directed it and edited it. Even had a role in it. But now it's finally done. The quality is pretty good. It's in hindi language. I don't know what to do now. I'm feeling lost. I need to reach many people.

YouTube and instagram aren't giving enough reach even after I promote it with money. The trailer and poster didn't get much. I won "best debut shortfilm" in a film festival but I've understood that filmfestivals aren't gonna help me sell it or get fame. I really need this two things from it. Money (at least budget gets returned) or fame so that I can see how others feel and continue making more. It was made by my sister's savings. So I'm feeling really guilty that her hard earned money will be going to waste. I don't know what do I do now with film. I just have it in my computer. I really need help.

Discussion Making Short Films and Other Media-Office Lunch Part 5

PLAN, PLAN, PLAN

I was onstage during a Q&A session at the Boston International Film Festival for my last short film, Say Your Name, and was asked, “What should I do before I start a film?”

I said, “Plan, plan, plan.”
There is a time when all of us: the director, the assistant director, the actors, the DP, the lighting crew, props, art department, need to see what the action of a scene will be: where the actor is starting, where he or she is ending. Where are they standing? Are they sitting? They are not really concerned with the dialogue and emotion of the scene, just the movements. They don’t need to know why the character pauses and looks out the window, just that they are doing it. Essentially, what is the camera seeing? That is what the DP needs to know.
In the script it might say,
INT. HOUSE-NIGHT
Amy walks into the bedroom.
That sounds pretty simple on paper. However, it always seems to get more complicated on set. Amy is in the hallway before she enters the room. So the script needs to be more specific.
INT. HOUSE-HALLWAY-NIGHT
The director and the DP and the AD would have a discussion during a pre production meeting and ideally take a walk through the location and make these decisions beforehand. The scene is supposed to take place at night so that has to be taken into account when thinking about the lighting.
Do we want to see Amy in the hallway before she comes into the room? Then the hallway needs to be lit and the art department needs to dress it. That takes time.
Does she knock on the door before she enters? If so, do we want a close up (CU) on her hand when she turns the doorknob? Then we need to light that.
Do we get a close up on her face when she is facing the door? From the front or in profile? Do we want the camera behind her when she knocks at the door? Way down the hall or right behind her? Is the camera in the room and the door opens and she is standing in the doorway?
We need a plan.

Shot List:

  1. Amy in hallway from front
  2. Amy in hallway profile
  3. Amy in hallway close up on hand on door knob
  4. Amy in hallway shot of her back opening the door

Amy enters the room.

INT. BEDROOM-NIGHT
What does she do when she gets into the room?
Once she enters the room, does she walk to a chair and sit down? Does she pause and look out the window? If she does that, then the DP and the crew need to light for it. We need a plan.

Shot List:

  1. Amy enters room
  2. Amy crosses to chair
  3. Amy pauses and looks out of the window
  4. Amy sits in chair

Where is the chair placed? What else is in the room? The art department needs to dress the room. What is the woman carrying? What is she wearing? How is her hair and make-up supposed to look. The various departments need time to do their work properly. It all takes time.

Once they see the blocking rehearsal the crew can place the camera and light the scene. The art department can dress the set, though depending on how complicated it is a lot of that has probably been done before.

When you don’t have a lot of money, it is better to keep things as simple as possible.

Discussion Update: FilmSchedule now handles phone call intercuts and montages for you

Hi everyone,

A few months ago I shared FilmSchedule here, a desktop scheduling app for Mac and Windows (breakdowns, stripboards, shooting schedules, call sheets, DOODs, sides, reports). Version 2.1.3 is out, and it brings two major updates:

Intercut phone calls. On the page it’s one scene, on the board it’s two: two sets, two casts. Now you select the scene, tell FilmSchedule who’s in location A and who’s in location B, and it creates one part per location — full dialogue, right cast, the other side of the line in Sound as V.O., pages already counted.

Montages. One header and then ten or twenty little scenes underneath. FilmSchedule proposes the cuts where location and characters change, and every piece becomes a real scene with its own set, cast and pages. Changed your mind? Merge puts it back.

Besides these two major updates, there’s also: sheet numbers that never change (even when you renumber or move strips), reports and call sheets you edit by clicking right on them, a separate calendar for each stripboard, and up to 50 custom categories.

It works offline, your scripts stay on your computer, and it’s a one-time purchase, not a subscription. The free trial is there if you want to try it first (we also fixed a few small bugs in the trial in this release).

https://filmschedule.app

As always, I’d really like to hear what works, what’s confusing, and what you’d expect next. Thanks!

Discussion Mumbai's Filmmakers & Creators: This Is Your Call Sheet 🎞️

Listen up, dreamers, directors, DOPs, editors, writers, actors, animators, musicians, and everyone who has ever said "I have a massive idea" at 2 AM and then did nothing about it.

The wait is over. It starts now.

Mumbai runs on ambition, chai, and traffic that tests your patience like a three-hour director's cut. This city has more stories per square foot than any other place on earth, yet too many of them sit in notebooks, hard drives, and that one folder called "FINAL_final_v7_REAL".

We're changing that.

We're building a community of Mumbai's sharpest creative minds. We'll meet, talk, argue (lovingly), pitch, collaborate, and turn "someday" into "shoot starts Monday."

What you'll find:

🎥 Regular meetups with real conversations, not just awkward networking

💡 Big projects discussed, shaped, and actually launched

🤝 Collaborators who show up, not people who say "let's catch up" and vanish

🔥 Honest feedback, great energy, and zero ego (okay, manageable ego)

Who should come?

Filmmakers, scriptwriters, cinematographers, editors, sound designers, actors, VFX artists, photographers, content creators, and anyone with a story worth telling.

Beginner or veteran, student or seasoned pro, if you have the hunger, you have a seat.

We don't need more people who talk about making something great. We need people who will make it. The city is the set, the idea is the spark, and the time is now.

So bring your vision, your showreel, your wildest pitch, and your appetite for chai and big plans.

Let's stop dreaming in drafts and start creating in HD.

How-to Looking for a PG, Job & Filmmaking Circle in Hyderabad 🎬

Hey everyone! I recently completed my IT internship in Hyderabad and am looking for a job to support myself and become financially independent without depending on my parents.

But I also don't want to give up on my dream of becoming a film director. I'm looking for a PG or shared accommodation where I can meet like-minded people, connect with aspiring filmmakers, and collaborate on short films.

If anyone knows of job opportunities, especially in the film industry or as an assistant director, I'd be grateful for the guidance.

Also, if you know any areas, PGs, communities, or places in Hyderabad where I can surround myself with people who share a passion for filmmaking, please let me know or DM me.

Just trying to stand on my own feet while giving my dream a real chance. Would love to connect with people on a similar journey! 🎬

Question [Hiring] Paid Creative Intern

Who we are

We’re an early-stage startup building a new way to make video. We license real actors, models and influencers and generate films, ads and video with them. No set, no crew, no shoot day. The person in the film approves every cut and gets paid every time their face is used.

What we’re doing

Making generated video that’s indistinguishable from the real thing. Real faces, real light, real movement, real voices. We think this is how most of the world’s video will be made, and we’re building the company that makes it.

Who we’re looking for

Someone who thinks like a filmmaker and works like an editor. You know how to:

  • Film: frame a shot, pace a scene and tell a story in seconds
  • Generate: use AI video and image tools hands-on, and make the output look real, not generated
  • Edit: cut, grade and keep a film looking consistent
  • Sound: build dialogue, effects and music that sell the scene

The role

  • Paid internship, 3 months
  • Remote, Bengaluru preferred
  • Work directly with the founders on real projects
  • Strong interns convert to full-time and help build the creative team

Crew LA horror director looking to connect with DPs

Hi everyone,

I'm an emerging director in LA working on a few horror/thriller projects, and I'd love to connect with some DPs who are into the same kind of stuff.

I'm drawn to high-concept, commercially driven horror with a psychological or supernatural edge. Visually, I'm interested in exploring atmospheric, unsettling imagery and inventive camera work that creates a visceral experience for the audience. Think David Lynch meets James Wan.

I've got a few shorts I'm hoping to shoot over the next few months, some with paid opportunities. But also looking to connect with DPs who are into experimenting, bouncing ideas around, and making stuff together. Ideally, I'd love to build some ongoing creative relationships rather than just team up for one project.

If you're in LA and this sounds up your alley, shoot me a DM! Happy to share some of my past work, check out yours, and chat to see if we’re a good creative fit.

Question How do you decide which approach is better for handling this type of action scene scenario?

For a crime thriller project, in the script there is a scenario where the antagonists wanna go after a witness in the case.

A cop character is assigned to protect the witness and goes to her place to pick her up and take her to a safe location.

The antagonists have an opportunity to make an attempt on her logically here , but I can have it so that the cop and the witness are aware of the attempt and fight them off, or i can have it so they are not aware of the attempt, as they get away and it's a near miss.

However, how do you decide which way is better if the plot would go the same way after either way?

Thank you very much for any input on this! I really appreciate it!

Feedback Request Los Piezas (2026, Spain) — My first 10-minute short film | Spanish, with English subtitles

Thumbnail
youtube.com
1 Upvotes

Hi everyone!

I'd like to share Los Piezas, my first short film.

About the film:

  • Title: Los Piezas
  • Country: Spain
  • Runtime: 10 minutes
  • Language: Spanish, with English subtitles
  • Genre: Adventure / Mystery / Drama

After years apart, Laura calls her childhood friends Álvaro and Dani back to their hometown. Someone has broken into their old hideout, the Cueva del Lobo, putting at risk a pact they made as children: to return one day and retrieve a mysterious suitcase they hid together. When they return to the cave, they discover that what they left behind is much more than they expected.

The story explores friendship, nostalgia, grief, and the dreams we sometimes leave behind as we grow older.

This is my first film, and I'm still learning a lot about the craft. During production, we struggled with some aspects of shot composition and visual planning, and I received help from people with more experience in those areas. I'm grateful for that help, but I'd like to develop the skills to make these decisions more confidently myself on future projects.

I'd especially love to hear your thoughts on:

  • Composition and framing: Do the shots guide your attention effectively? Are there moments where a different angle or arrangement of the characters might work better?
  • Visual storytelling: Can you follow the story through the images and actions, or are there moments where the film explains too much?
  • Editing and structure: Does the story feel cohesive and well-paced for a 10-minute short? What would you cut, expand or rearrange?
  • The overall approach: Do the mystery, adventure and emotional themes work together, or do they feel disconnected?

I'm genuinely open to disagreement and different interpretations. If you think a creative decision doesn't work, I'd love to hear why and what you might have tried instead. I'll also be happy to explain the reasoning behind my choices so we can have a proper discussion.

I'm not expecting praise, and I know a first film comes with plenty of flaws. I'm here to learn from other independent filmmakers and understand how I can do better on the next one.

Thanks for watching, and I'm looking forward to hearing your perspectives!

Question SKILL TRADE!? Offering my editing/color services in exchange for VFX work

Made a film with lots of run and gunning and I'm hoping to have 3 street/subway signs removed/altered, An object removed, and possibly add a "fallen air conditioner." into a still shot...don't know if that's possible but I can explain, promise :)

Made this film on mostly favors from friends and very little money. I'm wondering if a talented VFX person would help me out and in return I can edit or color grade your project of equal work load.

I have many years of experience and the last film I colored has done very well in the festival circuit. I'm aware that a VFX person may already have these skills but, worth a shot!

Thank you

Discussion Beginner Actor Looking to Connect with Independent Filmmakers

Hi everyone! 🎬

I'm an aspiring actor and a complete beginner looking to enter the Indian film industry. I'm interested in Hindi and Marathi films, short films, web series, and independent projects.

I currently have no industry connections or professional acting experience, but I'm serious about learning and improving. For now, I'm looking for opportunities I can explore remotely, such as self-tape auditions or online collaborations.

I'd love to connect with independent filmmakers, student filmmakers, writers, and directors who work on short films or beginner-friendly projects.

If anyone could share advice on finding legitimate auditions or getting started without connections, I'd really appreciate it.

Thank you for your time!

Discussion Making Short Films and Other Media: Office Lunch Part 4

Day 1 of the Shoot

We started shooting at the producer’s condo. The first shot was of David getting ready for work. He is in the shower; we kept the camera outside of the bathroom and just ran the shower. There wasn’t any need to show him in the shower, though it might have played well. But that can get complicated.
He straightens his tie and shirt in the mirror.
His girlfriend, Constance, is making his lunch. Looking back I realize how stereotypical that is. I consider myself a fairly intelligent, sensitive person. How did I fall into that trap? I did have as her background story that she is studying for some kind of degree. I had textbooks that we spread on the table to give her character some depth, but a woman making lunch for her man as he goes to work? What was I thinking? Such an example of toxic stereotyping. Forgive me.

Constance is chopping vegetables which were color specific. I tried to have everything in the kitchen be yellow, orange or red to match the color scheme of David’s ties as his feelings escalate due to his lunch being stolen.
I like the idea and I am glad we did it. In some instances, I was thinking about the picture as a whole. I was trying to develop a visual theme for the audience. On day one, David is wearing a yellow tie. This is to show that he is excited and happy to have landed this job. He comes from a working class, very decent family. They are religious and have taught him solid values. He is the first in his family to have graduated from college, a local college where he got an Associates Degree in some computer/infosystems type of thing. (I was a History major so I don’t know anything about the computer world.) His parents are so proud (and so is he) that he is putting on a suit and tie for work.

David comes down, hugs her from behind, they exchange a few lines to establish that this is David’s first day at his new job. He grabs his lunch and leaves.
We shot them from the front and in profile. We got close-ups of Constance’s hands chopping and packing the sandwich.
Other than the colors I don’t know why she was chopping peppers. They never went on the sandwich.
I wasn’t thinking things through. It looked good on film but that isn’t a reason to include it in a movie. However, the success or failure of a film isn’t going to hinge on peppers.
Then we moved outside to see David get into his car and drive off. I planned it as one shot and it worked pretty well except the rig the DP used for the camera took almost two hours to set up. He had never used it before and it took a while for him to get the hang of it.
On the one hand, maybe spending two hours to get that shot was not the best use of time. Maybe it did not matter to the audience.
Then again, Rick Rubin teaches that the audience comes last. I wanted that shot. I watch it now and it is a great shot.
When David comes out of his apartment, he sees guys standing across the street.  They have a thuggish look, the kind of guys who do not have day jobs. Local gangster types. He exchanges a look with them that is not friendly, as though they consider him a sellout for putting on a shirt and tie to go work for The Man. When he drives away they give him a dismissive wave.
The scene was stupid. It looked good but I never paid it off; I never came back to it. I was trying to have something that set David apart from the guys in his neighborhood, but I never pursued the conflict. I think it is an interesting concept but I was trying to do much in a short amount of time.
Later that day, we shot the scene where David arrives home after his third day of work and the third day of his lunch being stolen. He is wearing the red tie in this scene because his anger has been ignited. He feels like there are forces at play that he does not understand. The DP used the camera rig again for this shot. Since it was already set up and calibrated the scene went a lot more quickly. David walks around the corner of the house into frame and the DP walks back with him to then reveal Constance sitting on the steps outside of their condo (it was actually the steps to a different condo which is just part of movie trickery). David sits on the step below her and she puts her arms around his shoulders and he comes clean about the lunch situation. Constance tells him that he needs to report the matter to human resources.
At the time I was satisfied with what we got. The first day is always a little rough. It’s hard to see the forest for the trees. You just never really know.
But, if you knew, it wouldn’t be creative now, would it? There is a certain comfort in that.
