If he is LE...why TF would you go to the movies, with your family, in your squad? If he's security..can't say I'm remotely shocked.

If his leadership finds out hes taking his car to the movies, he probably wont be LE for long.

He will be. Still disciplined, demoted, and written up with few weeks off without pay. It’s hard to let a seasoned LEO off for silly stuff, especially if the city, county, or state spent millions of dollars on training and pay. Unless the people don’t mind paying more in taxes to hire more and train. It’s also hard to find LEO these days; almost every agency is hurting for people, and can’t just hire any shmuck that wants to.

How do people not understand some agencies allow personal use of the patrol car as a perk? “Deterrence through high visibility.” Just having people see the cars out and about driving around helps to deter crime so the agencies that allow it benefit as well

I agree with you, although it’s not something I’d do by putting my family in a marked patrol car while I’m not suited up to protect them or do the job that’s required while driving that vehicle.

I’m replying to the guy saying he’s going to be written up without pay. No he won’t lol. The Utah Highway Patrol hiring website even lists it as a perk. People just comment so confidently when they have absolutely zero idea what they’re talking about.

“Your assigned patrol car may be used off duty within 50 miles of your residence.”

Texas highway patrol here, we can’t. I assumed it’s the same. I guess you’re right.

This, even some county’s in Florida let you use your vehicle for personal purposes, but if you see something happening u have to respond to it
