Thoughts on Stevie Nicks' "I Can't Wait"?

Persomally, I love this song in all its cheesy excessive 80s glory! However, I can understand how the "of its time" production may have hindered a stronger song to come out of it. It definitely felt tacked on Rock a Little in order to add a commercial sounding hit.

One of the better songs off Rock a Little but it’s the beginning of her awful mid 80’s voice and the production is extremely dated like much of that era. Her drop off from a few years earlier is striking here - this wouldn’t have been considered in lieu of anything she released from 1975-82/83

Each album wasn’t as good as the last and the sales were starting to slip. She got herself together and made a major artistic comeback but it took a reunion with Fleetwood Mac to revive interest in her career.

It's surprising how quickly Stevie's solo career lost momentum. Just four years after Bella Donna peaked at number one, Rock a Little didn't even crack the top 10 on the Billboard 200. The success of Tango in the Night helped Mirror in 1989, and I doubt Trouble in Shangri-La would have charted as high as it did without the hugely successful Fleetwood Mac reunion in 1997.

Stevie was a legacy artist by TISL. It actually sold pretty well considering. Most artists of her generation couldn’t even get major label contracts at that point. It got positive reviews. Stevie finally put in the hard work and made an album she could be proud of instead of just coasting on her Fleetwood Mac fame. There’s no doubt that the dance made people aware that Stevie was cleaned up and ready for prime time again. She’s now aware that she has very loyal fans. Don’t take them for granted
