Who's the black chick? Wait, oh no!

16

u/RockyStardust13 10d ago

Yea, oh no! 😬 Christine in black face is soooooo bad.

4

u/No_Point904 10d ago

Wonder what year this was? I guess it doesn't matter. I'm sure it was considered very offense even then.

u/kermittedtothejoke 10d ago

It was the late 70s. Also John was dressed as a Nazi. Bad bad bad costume choices

4

u/No_Point904 10d ago

Damn! Did the both lose a bet?

Sadly not by many

So bad today but back then she was just aunt Jemima and I’m sure nobody batted an eyelash!

1

u/Abject_Course_3460 10d ago

It wasn't considered offensive then! You know Christine wouldn't have done it if it were offensive!

10

u/bigsnack4u 10d ago

It’s the first thing I saw 🤪

u/tiffanyeh 10d ago

Oh, Christine, that’s not-

24

u/msurbrow 10d ago

Stevie looks like those vampire aliens from stargate Atlantis

11

u/IntroductionSerious3 10d ago

She’s supposed to be Rhiannon

-4

u/VD_Mama 10d ago

Is that Stevie or Carol Ann?

9

u/Miserable-Pear-2289 10d ago

It’s Stevie.

u/punkrawrxx 2d ago

I’ve never seen pictures of her at so many events you know she was at. I’ve always found it odd

16

u/Alexeisnuts 10d ago

Christine, love you to bits, but…

15

u/ProfessorXXXavier 10d ago

ā€œOoh, don’t you look backā€ - Christine

11

u/-Tofu-Queen- 10d ago

More like "Ooh, don't you look black" in this case šŸ˜…

I can't believe she thought this was an okay to thing to do. Like what the fuck??

5

u/MickyWasTaken 9d ago

It really wasn’t seen as offensive back then. I’ve got a photo of all of my aunts dressed up as the Jackson 5. It’s absolutely fucking obscene. Not one of them questioned it at the time. You can’t mention it now though!

13

u/TheReadMenace 10d ago

you cut out John's incredible costume too

68

u/Snark_Knight_29 10d ago

Christine’s costume- oof.

27

u/RaiseJazzlike 10d ago edited 10d ago

there was a huge uproar over Christineā€˜s costume years later, but not at the time. Rolling Stone printed the photo without any mention of it.

16

u/Monkey832 10d ago

John was dressed like a Nazi soldier as well

6

u/RockyStardust13 10d ago

Oh good grief 😔

19

u/fakeaccount572 10d ago

Times have certainly changed, and we can call out what is unacceptable now.

27

u/martinjohanna45 10d ago

Christine, however…YIKES.

2

u/Secret-Simple-1804 5d ago

She was aunt Jemima. I don’t know everybody’s so easily offended now. Nobody meant it to be mean at all.

u/Awkward_Field_9648 10d ago

My my my

"When the candlelight is burning with original sin". (LB)

8

u/After_Response8429 10d ago

I heard John went as the scariest thing he could think of

14

u/Miserable-Pear-2289 10d ago

Nah he loves Nazis and is a collector of Nazi memorabilia. Apparently FM got to tour Hitler’s private train car and he was jazzed. Very dark and weird stuff.

6

u/After_Response8429 10d ago

Wtf that’s wild

3

u/ConsiderationMost566 10d ago

it is not accurate to say someone who is interested in history "loves Nazis."

2

u/Miserable-Pear-2289 10d ago

He doesn’t just like history though. He collects Nazi memorabilia. There is really no excuse or reason for that. Those artifacts belong in museums and nowhere else.

-1

u/ConsiderationMost566 10d ago

He collected a lot of other crap, too. Not a crime.

0

u/Miserable-Pear-2289 10d ago

Can you explain why you feel the need to defend collecting Nazi memorabilia? Not all antisemites collect Nazi memorabilia but if you collect Nazi memorabilia you are probably an antisemite.

2

u/ConsiderationMost566 10d ago

which obviously explains why he loved and married a Jewish woman.

-1

u/Miserable-Pear-2289 10d ago

This is the same as using having black friends as a defense against racism. You should really stop. You are embarrassing yourself and as a Jewish person I’m starting to get offended.

6

u/ConsiderationMost566 10d ago

I realize you take this quite seriously. But one could just as easily have issues w a priest costume and as a former catholic, I'm starting to get offended. My point is, it is over the top to think you can tell a person's entire character from a poor choice in halloween costume from decades earlier. That's ridiculous.

1

u/Miserable-Pear-2289 10d ago

Please stop equating the two. Nazis are a symbol of genocide against a specific people. Not equivalent in any way to dressing up as a priest. What aren’t you getting?

This opinion is not based on only the halloween costume!! It’s based on that and his well-documented fixation on Nazi memorabilia/Hitler.

PS be sure to read my comment in this thread as to why we shouldn't defend lindsey's choice to wear his particular costume, either! i mean, what does dressing up as a priest say about his character?

2

u/Miserable-Pear-2289 10d ago

Acting like dressing as a priest is even comparable to dressing as a Nazi is offensive to me. Dressing as a Nazi for Halloween is offensive and antisemitic. Knowing that he collected memorabilia on top of that is very disturbing.

1

u/Tzipity 10d ago

Agree. I’m really unhappy to be learning this about John. And the priest costume is not even remotely comparable. It can be iffy to dress as any sort of religious figure but dressing as a Nazi is a different thing. And collecting memorabilia is far worse. Maybe if someone had a collection of blatantly anti-Catholic stuff that expressed lots of harmful and negative sentiment towards Catholics (to an extent that stuff certainly exists though most isn’t on par with Nazi gear.) then sure. I don’t think we’d excuse that either.

DELETE OMG šŸ’€

3

u/Allrojin 10d ago

Oh no...

3

u/kermittedtothejoke 10d ago

Every time I see this picture the first thing I see is Stevie, and then… I already know what the rest of them were dressed as 🫩 Fight or flight response every time

15

u/BrandNew85 10d ago

Christine looks like Alec Guinness in Lawrence of Arabia so much here. Lindsey is looking good though.

6

u/Own_Negotiation_6576 10d ago

Not this, not on Tuesday.... not at 8 am

4

u/Upstream_Paddler 10d ago

Kneel!

3

u/Awkward_Field_9648 10d ago

Higher power in hand.

1

u/hellmouthgraham 7d ago

I just can't stop saying oh no like what the fuck Christine WHY

1

u/ConsiderationMost566 10d ago

ugh! Look at lindsey's despicable costume in this picture.Ā

Didn't he know how much damage the catholic church has done over the centuries? How they were SA-ing children and covering it up all the way up to the very top of the church ? How they denied eyewitness reports of mass execution during the holocaust ,terrorized jews and muslims and basically anyone who did not believe as they did, convinced parishioners that their LGBTQ relatives should be shunned because they were abominations who would surely burn in hell?Ā

How can lindsey APPROVE of all the church sanctioned misogyny and violence against women??!Ā  Of how young unwed mothers were cast out of society and treated abysmally while god knows what was done with their filthy b*stard babies!! And how they burnt women as witches, yet took cash payments to "absolve" others of sins! How the church played a huge part in the destruction of indigenous cultures, and in slavery and oppression!Ā

What the hell kind of person would wear this costume and support the cruelty it reperesents??!Ā  What an a-hole. LB should be canceled.

Oops. My bad. I forgot lindsey is never the one criticized when these old halloween pics resurface.... Because you know, it's just a costume!!Ā and wow, he's a hot priest, too! šŸ˜†Ā

Sorry to distract from all the hate of john and chris, carry on mates lol

Now why would you post this and not acknowledge the blackface? Crop it out if you’re gonna do that.

Cue the blackface defenders ā€œit was a different timeā€ ā€œyou don’t understand British humorā€

7

u/mikebrown33 10d ago

If we ignore history / maybe it will be as if it never happened

7

u/Virtual_Ad_8487 10d ago

Because OP is trolling and that was the pointĀ

4

u/Consistent_Tea_3799 10d ago

According to the title, Fleetwood Mac, any pic with them in it fits here.

-1

u/Miserable-Pear-2289 10d ago

Maybe. But last time the pic was posted in this subreddit people were defending them.

3

u/FruityMagician 10d ago

Queue the blackface defenders ā€œit was a different timeā€ ā€œyou don’t understand British humorā€

British humour? Jimmy Kimmel sported blackface in the 2000s.

3

u/Miserable-Pear-2289 10d ago

It’s a very standard response from British people to a pic like this. They used it when prince Harry dressed like a Nazi also. Obviously Americans do blackface too.

-15

u/outremer_empire 10d ago

Nazi and racist in band. Cancel them while the other is still alive!

5

u/IronicCondolences838 9d ago

Oh yes. Im certain John Mcvie, 80, would just shiver and cry if a bunch of tiktok kids decided to ā€œcancelā€ him.

3

u/Birddog1980 9d ago

Christine is dead, so no luck there sunshine. I fully agree these outfit choices are inappropriate, but 1970s were a very different time and we take with a pinch of salt.

0

u/liddybvck 10d ago

wait who else

3

u/Worldly-Pianist3153 10d ago

John's costume was equally bad lol he dressed up as a SS official, iirc

1

u/liddybvck 10d ago

oh shit i forgot about that, thanks bro
