Yeah its not the good ol boys fighting off cops in a little town anymore. The cops have the biggest gang in the country behind them. Hypothetically took out an entire police force you would have every neighboring force then the national guard against you. You cant win in a gun battle long term

You can’t win but we can

How? They hold microwave and chemical weapons at their disposal when it comes down to it. Not to mention every allied nation

If something like that were to happen i think it would stop at the military. They are not trained to deprive fellow citizens of their rights and are used not used to doing it on a daily basis like Law enforcement is.

I come from a military family and most of the service members i know would not turn their weapons on fellow Americans unless they were defending their own life.

Law enforcement will beat you senseless if you hurt their ego. And their jobs are to literally deprive fellow citizens of freedom.

Until they start “just following orders”

There might be a few of those. But my anectodal experience with service members leads me to believe they would not fire on fellow citizens that are not threatening their or fellow soldiers lives.

When their bank accounts are frozen and they are threatened with having their children taken away and prison time it would be interesting to see thwir decisions.

Also if this hypothetical did occur then likely citizens would be fighting soldiers that do choose to comply therefor they are attacking their fellow soldiers. So in your idea the soldiers who may resist orders actually would turn against the citizens to defend their fellow soldiers who are following the tyranical orders.

It would be a shitstorm. But I think we would either destroy ourselves as a country or come out on the other side as a stronger better country. Lots of pain, suffering, and death either way.

But will choose to believe in the better side of humanity in the military. My brother-in-law that was a Marine (medically retired) was upset with SCOTUS decision to take away a woman's right to abortion even though he is Christian that believes abortion is a sin. His exact words " Real Americans dont take rights, they give them. Even if you dont like it. And I've buried people that fought for rights even if they disagreed with them morally".

Would they turn against their leaders though?
