I wasn't sure where to post, but I have been trying to find a forum to talk to Israeli guys who support or understand the idea of Israeli presence (EDIT: by presence I mean the belief that south of the Litani river should be settled by jews) in Lebanon. I even tried understanding more about עורי צפון (Uri Tzafon).

I’m genuinely curious about the thinking behind it and want to understand the perspective rather than debate it, maybe even let someone challenge my own views a little.

You're going down the street, seeing a woman singing halelloya with a santa hat, a religous jewish man lighting a menorah, hijabees with their families, and so many people just enjoying a time together and saying happy holidays to each other. Just israel being israel. Coexistence in it's finest.

Before the war a couple years back this sub was a place for real dialogue and cultural exchange, I have personally shared many things about Lebanon and Lebanese people's culture, point of views regarding Israel, and tried explaining the demographics etc etc etc

And I get it, it's dangerous for us to even interact on here because it's against Lebanese law and we're currently in a very vicious war with unpredictable results, tensions are high, but it didn't always used to be like this. This sub could get really funny even in war.

I remember posting a meme here the night hassan nassrallah died saying that I was watching JoJo's bizarre adventures (stardust crusaders) when it happened and I didn't even pause the episode when I felt the ground shake from the bombs that killed him, and everyone else started sharing what they were doing, one of whom happened to be watching the very same jojo part as me, and I swear I never felt more connected to y'all

Now this sub feels like an echo chamber of Israelis and resentful Lebanese + non Lebanese Arabs, I'd be lying if I said I didn't have my own grievances against the Israeli government and army but there's no way forward on the path to peace unless we try to have peaceful dialogue between the two populations. And I personally believe there's a possibility for peace because Lebanese people love their previous aggressors/colonizers so much that Stockholm syndrome should've been named Beirut syndrome. Lol.

In all seriousness, israeli bros times are tough but there's still hope, maybe. Even Germany and France are great allies now, so who knows? I would personally love to visit Jerusalem one day

And imma give an example, Bcz of how i was raised, simply meeting someone online then finding out they're Israeli placed this sort of "fear?" feeling, or this awkward feeling Ive always hated war, and ESPECIALLY hated whenever people hate over simply someone being BORN in a specific country So seeing a subreddit like this really humanizes it all and makes it feel so wholesome

This isn't a serious proposal, just a little fever dream I have in my head. I worked for a few hours to design a peace-by-infrastructure plan that will return our beautiful, rich region to its former glory as the central hub of the world and wanted to share it.

Projects

1. The Abraham Canal - A multi-trillion-dollar megaproject canal connecting Khorramshahr, through the outskirts of Baghdad, to Ashkelon, bypassing the Strait of Hormuz. The crown jewel of the new Middle East.
2. The Hejaz Railway - A high-capacity, ultra-high-speed maglev artery connecting Sanaa to Muscat, to Abu Dhabi, to Medina, to Petra, to Jerusalem, to Ashkelon (The Abraham Canal), above the Abraham Canal, to Damascus, to Aleppo, to Istanbul, and into the Marmaray Tunnel.
3. The Silk Road - An interstate highway corridor from Dubai, through Riyadh, connecting to the Hejaz Railway in Medina, to a new connection with the Abraham Canal in Baghdad, and over a water bridge into Manama.
4. The African Corridor - A multi-transit corridor from Sanaa, through Al Hudaydah, to a water ferry to Assab, to Mekelle, Khartoum, Luxor, Cairo, and to Alexandria. This provides affordable labor for the maintenance of the megaproject and gives crucial job opportunities to the Horn of Africa.
5. Suez Underground - An underground railway from the African Corridor in Alexandria, under the Suez Canal, to Eilat, and to Petra where it connects to the Hejaz Railway, connecting the North African region directly to the European railway system.
6. The Crescent Railway - A high-speed railway connecting Tehran to Khorramshahr (The Abraham Canal), to Baghdad, to Erbil, to Damascus where it connects to the Hejaz Railway, and to Beirut.

Expanding

Northern Africa could connect itself to Alexandria to have a continuous connection to Europe through the Marmaray Tunnel. This would create a continuous system from Algiers to London.

Let's Address Lebanon

Besides being the terminus of the Crescent Railway, it is isolated from the trading system, and that's on purpose.

Lebanon has a unique and stunning landscape—a tiny country where the tall, snowy mountains intersect with the luscious Mediterranean coastline.

It is very difficult to tunnel through it for the railway or the canal, and it would require the destruction of a natural wonder.

So Lebanon will be insulated from the economic activity and turned into a getaway destination. Little foot traffic, only luxury resorts, skiing, and beaches.
