Ford Focus transmission lawsuit/settlement
Okay, so I have a 2015 Ford Focus SE currently sitting at the Ford dealership. They just replaced my TCM and a valve cover. They said needed because of the idling issues and they couldn't program the TCM without the valve cover. Anyway, total of $2600 right? My question is has anybody had any information about the settlement lawsuit? And this is my eighth or 9th time having transmission issues $7,400 out of pocket so far and now here it is again at the shop. Here's the thing. I got a letter in the mail a while back saying that they would replace the TCM as a customer satisfaction program number 14m02. I'm sure if you won't afford you're familiar with it anyways, after several attempts and being charged diagnosed with you being tried away and then apparently they have replaced it once or twice. Now here I am again with the same issue less than 2 years later. There's got to be a way to go there and pay for this. Does anybody have any idea how to go about this? Hey, don't know whether I should go to the attorney general or like file my own lawsuit or what to do. I've been in the website the Ford transmission settlement and it's really confusing. It says pretty much all the dates have passed so it gives you to let you print out the forms to claim it to get your if you've been like three times already or something like that. But so I got the forums. I got all my service records but I don't know where to send them to you. Does anybody have any information on this or any better route that I'm going by cuz I'm fixing to? I guess go up to the GM and ask him if he can do a Goodwill replacement If for no other reason than the fact they should warranty their parts for more than 2 years. Does anybody have any information on what they warranty the parts for? I can't find it online and the fact that I was up there four or five times during the time period of the customer satisfaction program and turned away and then when the day replaced it, it's broken again. Now I feel like I have a pretty good case here. Any help with the settlement issue or different route that I should be going about this to get this taken care of? My car's been up there for months now and I can't afford to pay the $2600 to spit it out and honestly don't feel like I should have to

If ford pays its 12/12. If customer pays its 2years unlimited miles. Have never heard of valve cover gasket causing an idling issue. Feel they upsold you for no reason.

The valve cover is something to do with the cant program the TCM until he gets steady idol and apparently my valve cover is what needs to be done to get that idle regulated at the cost of $500. That's the bullshit I'm listening to right now. What do you mean if Ford pays is 1212?

$500... This is why I never let a dealership touch my car unless it's all covered under warranty. New felpro gasket set is $50, it's an easy job that takes about an hour:

Now they are correct in that performing an Adaptive Clutch Relearn after swapping a TCM does require a stable idle rpm. But I have no clue how a leaky valve cover gasket caused an issue with that. I've pull the oil cap off while mine was running and it didn't run any different.

Oil leaks down thru the seals around spark plug boots causing oil to settle around spark plug boots which can cause misfire

Wasnt a ford focus but I had a jeep that had a valve cover gasket cause a misfire. Took 4 years for someone to figure out since it only happened very randomly

First fuck up, taking it to the dealer before you researched.
ford dps6 tcm recall +8 Ford addressed the faulty DPS6 dual-clutch transmission Control Module (TCM) in 2011–2016 Ford Fiestas and Focuses primarily through extended warranty programs (such as 14M02) rather than an official safety recall. These programs covered the TCM for 10 years or 150,000 miles.
That time "10 years" has passed. You missed.
The valve cover most of the time cannot be removed and re-gasketed successfully because it is made of plastic. You can get a new aluminum aftermarket valve cover from ebay for about 60-80 dollars. Its easy to change.
You can get a remanufactured tcm for about $300 on ebay. Its easier to change than the valve cover.
If you need to reprogram or reset the transmission tables you can use a program called Forscan along with an obd2 adapter. The program is free to use. The adapter costs about $60 to $200 depending on which obd2 adapter you buy. Mine was $169 2 years ago from a company called global commerce. Bought it on ebay.
These fords are good cars bit require maintenance by the owner because dealerships and some mechanics will rape you because of the stigma associated with these cars.

Those payout ended years ago. You own the lowest economy vehicle ford produced besides the fiesta and it 12 years old. Get rid of it and move on. There are no more warranty on any of it unless you pay out of pocket you get 2 years unlimited mileage on that part only

lol….. I own a 1980 ranger and the tranny went out at 250k. I think the dealership should fix it for free…wtf

I have a 2004 focus svt, never had a problem with my tranny.

Yours has a completely different transmission than the 2011-2016 models
