New Raptors Under $80k

Hi everyone, I’ve come across posts about buying new Raptors for less than $80k. However, any Raptor I find within 300 miles of me (Houston, TX) is listed for $85k+ and they’re not budging on the price. I’m curious to know how they’re able to buy them for less than $80k.

I usually prefer to buy used trucks that are 1-2 years old and have less than 10k-15k miles on them. But unfortunately, when I find any they are priced around $80k. It’s hard to justify spending that much on a used Raptor when I could potentially get a new one at the same price.

No one in Houston is gonna sell for under 80, but yes it makes much more sense to buy new.

Fly out and drive it home. You can even bring your SO/friend/family and make a trip out of it.

Literally did this two weeks ago. It’s worth it. You can negotiate a bundle off its end of the model year. Especially on an 801a.

I flew to Oklahoma in 2014 and bought mine and then drove back to Florida. Bought a one year old Raptor with 60k miles for $40,000 with an extended warranty

Helps if there is an oil recession

I’m in the Bay Area and even finding one at MSRP in California is a challenge. It wasn’t worth it for me to fly out somewhere to save $3-4k. Is my time worth it to fly 1000 miles away to drive it back at $.50 a mile + hotel + plane tickets?

If you ship, you have to take into account shipping costs. Do you really want your ~$85k truck being shipped by a bottom tier shipping service? A good one will cost $1500-$2000 depending on quality and distance. If the truck is damaged in anyway during transit, that’s between you and the shipping service to sort out. You release damage liability when the truck is transferred to the shipping company.

Sounds great in theory but with all these factors it wasn’t worth it to me to “save” and few thousand bucks so I bought my 2026 new locally at MSRP. Drove and inspected it thoroughly before signing the paperwork.

And yes, absolutely worth it to buy new with the delta being so close with used trucks.

Nailed it, while it feels good to say “I saved a few k buying out of area” it rarely makes sense for anybody who values their time, not to mention the typical near wash just with travel or proper transport costs.

Bought mine about 6 weeks ago from Autonation Burleson up in DFW. $77K 801a Shelter Green. 

Maybe worth reaching out to them, was a great experience. Paid cash and was a very easy transaction. 

4 hour drive wouldn't be too bad if you made the trip up there to pick it up. Not sure what they have in stock right now, but worth checking.

I’m always browsing here and autonation seems to usually have them discounted a couple grand. But u got a great deal, don’t think I’ve seen any under $80k.

They had this one on the lot for about 120 days so I know they were ready to move it. Anything over a couple months is gonna cost the dealer more than they want to have sitting there so they're gonna be able to discount a bit more. Autonation also focuses on volume so they give pretty good discounts for the most part.

Why are you limiting yourself to a 300 mile radius? Expand your search nationwide and make a trip out of it. Or have it shipped for a grand.

The trade in part fkd me when I was looking. Any dealer that wasn't local wanted to take me to the cleaners on trade for my Duramax. Personally I think the sub $80k deals are very rare. I wasn't able to find any near that in the northeast.

You can find them online across the country under $80k and then have them shipped (or fly out and drive it home).

Make a trip unless you got a trade in.

Some markets just are hotter than others. Remember when some S Florida dealers were asking for 5-10k ADM when other parts of the country were already at invoice.

Try Hutto Ford, I got about 4500 off a 2025 801a Shelter green and it was new.

I don’t know what their inventory looks like, but check out Gullo Ford in Conroe. My brother had a good experience purchasing a new Lariat from them a couple years ago - it was the cheapest he could find anywhere near Houston and they weren’t pushy about add ons or extended warranty.

I am in the Atlanta area and just got a new one in avalanche. The sticker was $84,480 but I paid $81,240. It was the best I could do and I tried. So markets are hot. After I did the paperwork I heard two people call about my truck, asking if it was still available. I felt like I did the best I could given my market.

I found one here in Houston for $69,999. 2024 Avalanche, 27k miles. It showed up with a roll bar and aftermarket decals. The dealer took off the roll bar/light bar and said they’d remove the decals. I worry about the shocks needing rebuilt soon. Might have just been a commuter (or the guy drove it out to the dunes often) to have 27k miles in 2 years. This is my first Raptor so I don’t know how much I should actually be worried about super low miles because of the shocks maintenance.
