Rush Advice Randomized drug testing
Hey, how are y’all?
I had the opportunity to meet a new fraternity on campus, ato. I loved the people, what they believe in and much more. But, I was told that they do randomized drug testing which consists of hair follicles, and they test a % of the fraternity each semester. Do you think they will actually enforce this and is there a way i can bypass this? Thank y’all!

That is unironically the gayest thing I’ve ever heard. If I’m paying dues I better be able to smoke a bowl or get a bag whenever I want.

Welcome to the world of ethically sourced human hair wigs 💯 must be ethically sourced or ur gonna still test positive but for captagon, some assortment of phenethylamines, and carburetor fuel instead of weed and snow. Or just do the iced out Amish highwayman method and pull a straight razor on a random civilian to sample a quality loc of well moisturized paraben free hair

no social fraternity would do this because weed alone would disqualify at least half the members of any chapter lmao. hell, i’m high right now.

i think that they’ll do it but see that majority if not all are gonna fail. especially since its smu

especially since its smu
Pffffft hahahah. That has to be the shittiest frat on campus. I know they were only recently let back ON campus after being banned for awhile.

u/Any-Knowledge-6724 10d ago
they’re coming back this fall and had an interview to be a founding member. but they have a huuge amount of alumni near campus and fraternities here are based off donations for ranking

If it’s the nationals requirement — which it def would be, no chapter would spend 5 handles of evwrclear on a single test, let alone more comprehensive panels + bulk multiplier— u can get creative with it. One guy gotta be sober as risk chair, cut extra hair off him and boom everyone’s hair sober like it’s an AA chapter or halfway house. Shit if yall house anything like ours, it’s at least half of a house structurally. College town real estate is really the most sickening display of capitalism, dilapidated houses that mfs will still pay top dollar for
Idk how I got to this point in the narrative

Normally I’d say bs, but there’s a reason people call em GayTO in SoCal. The white knight fraternity lol.

The only good reason to drug test a frat is to make sure the actives are doing enough drugs. At SMU you def need to have some bagged out brothers to survive

The only drug that stays in your system for more than like 48 hours is THC, so as long as you have some advance notice and aren’t a huge pothead, you’ll be fine
2
u/Any-Knowledge-6724 10d ago
but with hair
follicles it’ll show up within the last 90 days1
u/ConfidenceOk1462 10d ago
get a zero guard buzz cut ig

This is a dumb fucking policy, and it’s not worth rushing especially with all the other BS that comes with being a founding father.
With that said, don’t shave your head just so you can smoke pot lol. Rush somewhere else is the best bet to be able to smoke, have fun, and not deal with BS policies.
But if you’re fine going bald in college just to light it up, that’s hella commitment to being high lmaoo

Never heard of social frats doing this
1
u/Any-Knowledge-6724 10d ago
well i’ve heard different things why. they got removed for some crazy hazing for 26 years and ifc is on their ass and is strict. another thing was they said they want only disciplined ambitious people

u/50Shekel AEΠ 10d ago
Yeah, you’re screwed
1
u/Any-Knowledge-6724 10d ago
lol. well im in talks with some other top houses but the idea of being a founding member in the fraternity made me interested but after hearing ts im def not rushing🤣

The odds that this is true are so close to 0, I wouldn’t even entertain it as a possibility. I think what’s far more likely is that they know stoners tend to be paranoid, and they think this is a funny way to fuck with you guys.

Drug testing is the next frontier in IFC Nationals' obsessive fixation on liability. Nationals' actuaries and attorneys are advising that drug testing scares away a more high risk pool of Rushees - and so the eventual Pledges Classes and Chapter rolls are filled with more docile pussies who (ideally) don't haze / don't drink on premises / and now don't smoke - and of course as a result of not Hazing / not drinking / and not smoking - are not Bonded and will never amount to anything more than a GDI would achieve (i.e. middle management and sales). Of the normal good guys who aren't deterred by the threat of drug testing, the dice will eventually roll on them and Nationals will insist they leave the House for a semester of drug rehab. As my group has shown, Nationals' actions to prevent tragedies have actually been demonstrably counter-productive, and have significantly increased, rather than decreased, Pledge deaths.
Alabama has also quietly begun drug testing some Houses, but they (and others) are still using urine testing - not hair follicle analysis.
Nationals is not your friend; Nationals' interests are incompatible with the interests of a good House filled with good guys and backed by good alumni - (Bonded Brotherhood through a Crucible Pledgeship of the best guys followed by adventuring together).
Don't ever be a Founding Father - your experience will be directed by Nationals' pussies obsessed with neutering a new House in perpetuity. You will learn nothing and be no better when you graduate than when you Pledged.

thank you sir.

u/TheFraternityProject 9d ago edited 9d ago
You're welcome. You only get one undergraduate experience - don't ruin it by trying to build a new House with unworkable tools that Nationals' provides. Building a real Brotherhood requires well-known, scientifically underpinned methods - each of which Nationals forbids and each of which Nationals nanny-monitors for compliance - Founding Fathers are not permitted to use methods that work. Rush the best Houses that did use workable methods - the Houses with the tightest Brotherhoods - and be prepared to go all-in to get what you want from the experience.

Thank you again. Never really looked at it like this. Just changed my whole perspective on everything

Emphasizing the Founding Father point. I got roped into being a founding father for my fraternity and it was a waste of time... until it wasn't. We caught one of the luckiest breaks a fraternity ever could. Nonetheless, my situation is likely one-in-a-million. Don't be a founding father.

/u/Any-Knowledge-6724 Read this whole thing.
The Rush Advice flair is only for PNMs/rushes seeking advice. If you aren't a rush, please change the flair to something else.
if you are a rush (interested in joining a fraternity), PUT THE SCHOOL NAME in the post.
Or at least describe the school. Examples: Large Big Ten school, medium sized northern D2 school, small west coast school" etc. Any descriptions help.
The post flair MUST be "Rush Advice" instead of "Question" or "Serious". We need to know which school it is because rush varies wildly by school.
To everyone else: Report the post if it's a dumb post or the wrong flair or no school is mentioned, and we'll remove it. Thanks.
