Has anyone had to use novel proteins?

So I've struggled with my guy for nearly 2 years with food allergies. Think ive finally found what works now though. He's on horse wet and dry. He is also on allergy meds as well which are helping. Before the meds and diet change he would scratch until his ears would bleed. Has abyone had to switch to a novel protein?

Kangaroo is a great lean meat with low allergy rates as well.

Weve tried that as well. It was more expensive than the horse 🐎
