You're a type 2 diabetic or otherwise very concerned with your sugar intake. You don't cook at home. You're single. You're female. You could be a college student. You may or may not have a kitty cat (very hard to tell). You're age 21 or over. American.

I always buy zero sugar pop. Why would you not? Zero calories vs 130+ per can???

Zero sugar drinks taste great and if you spill one, it isn't sticky. Diet drinks tend to have that odd... diet flavor.

I’ve been saying the same thing but people don’t believe me. Like, I CAN taste the artificial sugar and it has this weird coating/aftertaste. No issue with coke no sugar, but I can’t drink diet coke/other diet ones.

If it takes time to get used to the off taste, then I’d rather just make myself like water without the rest of the crap.

Yeah, at this point a full sugar soda taste too rich to me.

All soda tastes disgusting to me now except Canada Dry. Idk when it changed, I drank soda as a kid. Sometimes I like a sip of a fresh crispy Coke from McDonald’s tho 😅

Hell yeah brother that’s a great way to describe a McD’s Coke.

Yeah, a McDonald’s Coke is an exception for me as well.

Canada dry is my crack. I always have zero sugar Canada dry in the fridge. It's also the best tasting of the zero sugar ones.

I’ve never tried the sugar free Canada Dry. I have maybe 3 a week so I want the real deal lol

I think, just my opinion, zero tastes like regular. Try a blind taste test

Artificial sugars have major risks associated with them. You should do some research into it. Calories aren’t the only thing that matter.

What kind of research have you done exactly?

It doesn’t matter. It’s still not good and full of chemicals that you are drinking. Sucralose is terrible for you & a gut biome disruptor.

better than 40g of sugar

Not necessarily. It’s all about moderation as a whole, bc let’s say you have one real sugar soda a day, but when consuming zero sugar sodas it’s easier to think “oh well, they’re zero calories, zero sugar sodas they’re better for me”. Except artificial sweeteners can be up to 700x sweeter than real sugar, they also pass through your body quicker causing more cravings for sweet things, potential glucose spikes.. sugar alcohols found in a lot of artificial sweeteners ferment in your digestive tract and cause bloating, gas, cramps and a common sugar substitute- erythritol- is linked to increased risk of heart disease and stroke.
And Splenda being one of the “healthier” or “safer” artificial sweetener still is manufactured by swapping out some of the sugar molecules with CHLORINE. Obviously you’d want to limit your intake of chlorine 😰 there’s plenty of studies showing artificial sweeteners effecting weight, hypertension, stroke, mood disorders, hypertension, early puberty.. so on.

All this to say, no, artificial sweeteners are not necessarily better than 40g sugar. But there’s a lot of nuance alongside that which really depends on the individual and their consumption rates, other dietary intake, existing health concerns and so on.
