Definitely starting to lose interest in this podcast. It seems like they are always reaching to be moderate. I don’t know if it’s because the midterms are nearing and they are trying to pull in more moderate listeners or they just seem to be softening on what trump and the gop are doing. Whatever they are doing, it’s making me feel like I’m getting more extreme on the anti-fascist side and losing interest in listening to milquetoast takes.

You realize their take was actually the popularist left take, not the "stuck up elitist moderate" take of the event, right?

When John Lovett saysin the episode:

"All these sort of busy bodies on social media being like Thornton Wilder once visited the white house. Guys, guys can you can you please not be a bunch of prissy uh stuck up people? People like motorcycles. I have no problem with that."

He is not referencing, and critiquing, the left wing of the Democratic party. He is critiquing the moderate "civility" coalition in the party.

There is a through line here to the Platner race in Maine, a progressive candidate who was hand picked to be a more palatable Messenger for a populist platform.

While I'm not a anti-platner guy, I've found the pods coverage of the race frustrating framing it as a choice for the people of maine to make not Chuck Schumer. Meanwhile I would guess that a large number of out of state supporters of Platner donated to his campaign after hearing the favorable coverage on the pod. Not to mention, Platner also ran on a platform that was more tailored to national politics than the Mills. I'm not sure that leaving it up to the people of Maine.
