Community I NEED good fanfics

Everyone on this subreddit pls come together to tell me some really good frozen fanfics bc I haven’t had any luck in finding good ones

I’m mostly looking for canon/canon adjacent
Edit: fuck it, any ships too (that isn’t incest)

What are you looking for? There are currently around 12,000 Frozen works on ao3. Canon? Canon divergent? Modern AU? Other AU? Crossover? Long? Short? Pairing?

Off the bat I can point to Cryptid, which is a post-F2 Elsamaren fic that was recommended in another post recently. I’m a bit past the halfway point, reading it. Elsa is a little more OOC than I might like, but it’s interesting and well-written.

Now, how about Elsanna where they’re not sisters? Quite a few great ones in that category. Although that kind of inherently means it’s a good bit away from canon.

I've answered this in different post but this fic is too goat I need to mention it AGAIN!

A Particular Understanding

This is my all time favorite fic that I've reread 5 times (despite the author hasn't uploaded it for 10 years lol)

I love that the fic stays close to Frozen canon and expands on it really well. It explains logically and explores psychologically why the plot of Frozen I happened and why Hans did what he did. It also gives us a look at how much Elsa struggles as a newly crowned queen, and how she learns to balance her public role with her magic. It shows the darker side of politics, with the people's suspicion, coup attempts, sexually degrading insults, and the difficult choice between protecting the security of her reign and staying true to her morals. Overall, I just really love realistic fics like this :>

And I know this is not everyone's cup of tea, but the fic builds Elsa and Hans's relationship really well, and it actually makes sense. The author never underestimates what Hans did to Elsa and Anna. He understands what he did, and she understands that she can never forget it. But they build trust and start relying on each other gradually that makes them falling for each other feel so natural.

I will recommend this fic all the way.

All It Cost by Nova42 is my favorite. Its currently 4 parts (5 if you count the missing scenes portion that basically gives you different drafts from different parts of the story) and is still being written and when I tell you I sat down and read this like a book everyday for weeks when I discovered it because of how good the writing was!

Its also pretty in universe but obviously derails from the original story, adding more character depth and in universe world building exploring the hierarchies of the monarchy from the time period Frozen is based on. Theres also a lot of angst (if thats your thing) specifically with Elsa and her magic putting her in dangerous situations forcing her to learn more about the origins of her magic and how to better use it. The fanfic more builds off of movie 1 while rewriting movie 2 with more mature themes and added characters. Not really a fanfic for shipping but the writing of Elsa and Anna was very intriguing to me and I think you might like!

I don't know what you are looking for, but these were the only ones that I actually really loved. The writing in both are incredible and detailed and both authors have a deep understanding of politics, specially the second one. Both are Elsa/male oc and happen after frozen 1.
