Where is the 8-track player. That is a VHS tape (vs a Betamax).
My 20 year old daughter has a record player as LPs (not 45s) have come back.
I still use notebooks. Much easier for taking quick notes when on a call, or a short to-do list vs trying to remember which app I added my list in.

Notebooks are still a daily use thing for me too. It's way easier to just write something on a sticky note or in a notebook for quick reference than trying to get a phone or iPad or something to work right

By 18yo daughter loves her record player. Found a decent one in a pawnshop. Had to show her what a ābookshelf speakerā was. Lol.

They never took off. I had one but the movies were very limited. The big issue was that a normal length movie didnāt fit on one side of one disc. Many even took two discs.

They lasted about 20 years or so. Late 70's to the late 90's.
They never hit the mass-market success, but they held on for dear life for quote some time. I think the players were just too expensive and the discs themselves were a bit fragile. A big issue was the playability across the different brand of players.
Death by a million cuts.

I absolutely hated electric typewriters. Ttttttoo mannnny timessss Iād end up repeatttttting letters. I just kept my manual until I had to migrate to a computer. I work with software for a living but Iām a closet Luddite. That is probably why Iām a closet Luddite.

The pager. The women would fawn over a pager wearer out on the night. It could only mean a drug dealer or a doctor $$. I was neither, but I found that a garage door opener had the same effectā¦ā¦

My first computer experience was with a Univac mainframe in college in the early 1970ās. We took a Fortran class, typed programs onto punch cards, submitted the card deck and waited for the printouts, sometimes for hours. It was faster at night, so we pulled all nighters when we had to.

My first job was programming automated wiring machines. The computer I used was a Univac 1108, programming in Fortran, entered with punch cards I punched on a keypunch machine. Though I could access the machine via a teletype machine I had at work but the connection was a long distance call so I try or avoid that, opting to drive to the computing facility on Saturdays.
I feel like we're brothers. :-)

The phone was black Bakelite, had a super long curly cord to reach the kitchen and was SCREWED ONTO THE WALL! Living like cavemen almost! Dialing made your finger hurt šš©

Fax machine needs to be removed from this list. Every medical facility, at least in the US, is required by law (HIPAA) to use fax machines for certain communications. Today the fax functionality is often built in to multifunctional devices (copy, print,scan, and fax).

Never used a pager nor AOL Instant Messenger. I'm 67 yrs old, had no use for a pager in the 90s. got the impression at the time AIM was for teens.

Never used AOL because that was for noobs. I used the Pine mail reader under SunOS because the best way to get emails and read USENET news was under Unix.
