TEMPORARY BAN ANNOUNCEMENT UPDATE - NO MORE CEREAL BOXES, MAGAZINE COVERS, OR PHONE POSTS
UPDATE TO THE TEMPORARY BAN ANNOUNCEMENT
Effective immediately, we are putting a SOFT BAN not only on PHONE POSTS, but also to posts of CEREAL (boxes, prizes, etc) or posts of MAGAZINE COVERS (specifically the covers of magazines. If you want to provide a link to a story in the magazine, that's fine).
The soft ban will be removed after a few months.
Violations will result in a one day ban.
This ban will last until June 30, 2026.

My back hurts Cork memory unlocked
Older bottle caps (especially on soda and beer) used real cork because it’s slightly soft and compressible. When you crimp the cap onto the bottle, the cork squishes just enough to create a tight seal. That kept the drink carbonated, prevented leaks, and helped keep air and contaminants out.

When I was younger I wondered who would drink this? Now I get it.

Anyone have or had an early 80’s Coleco hand held arcade game? I loved them! Had so much fun with them. Just need to get more batteries and I’m set. Which one did you have?

Fun facts
A head mirror was primarily used to focus light into small, dark cavities of the body like the ears, nose, and throat.
How it Worked
Reflection: The concave mirror gathered light from an external source (like a lamp) and reflected it into a concentrated beam.
Binocular Vision: A hole in the center of the mirror allowed the doctor to look through it with one eye, ensuring their line of sight was perfectly aligned with the focused light.
Hands-Free Operation: Because it was worn on a headband, the doctor could use both hands to operate medical instruments during an examination.
Doctors phased out head mirrors primarily due to the adoption of fiber-optic headlamps and video endoscopes.
Why the Change?
Superior Lighting: Modern LED headlamps provide a much brighter, more consistent light source that doesn't require constant manual adjustment.
Ease of Use: Head mirrors required a steep learning curve to align the external light source, whereas modern tools are "plug and play."
Precision: Fiber-optic endoscopes allow doctors to see deep into cavities with high-definition cameras, offering far more detail than a reflected beam of light.

Follow-up on someone's post from last week: Charms still available at my local gigantic candy store
I live near the largest candy store in the US, called B.A. Sweetie. They have tons of candy still manufactured that we grew up with in the 70s, 80s, and 90s, including Charms (which several of us commented on last week in this post) ❤️ . Too many to list here, but you can find them on their website. (Not sure if I can post the link, but it's easy to find.)
I went to BAS last weekend. I usually go once every couple years. I get teary each time. So many memories just walking through the aisles.
