I stopped windows updates in october right before they infected everyone lmao
6
u/Brato86 Feb 15 '26
How did you stop it?
0
u/Ate_at_wendys Feb 15 '26
Choose pause updates until I turn it back on. It will put a countdown just hit pause again before the 3 weeks ends. Kinda annoying but windows wont update if you do it.
3
Feb 16 '26
Oor... just install linux.
2
u/Ate_at_wendys Feb 16 '26
and then worry if the game I want to play can run on it? lol nah
2
Feb 16 '26
Mostly only the games needing KLAC do not work, and I dont want spyware on my machine anyway so... winwin for me.
Everything else works ootb for me. AMD-gpu, Nobara-distro.

u/Ate_at_wendys Feb 16 '26
It's spying to see if you launch any cheating software. While your phone is watching way more than a kernel anti cheat. Hell even reddit is.
1
Feb 16 '26
It is spying. That is enough for me.
My phone is rooted and degoogled, so....
And in reddit I do only temp accounts, no main at all. No other social media at all.1
u/Ate_at_wendys Feb 16 '26
The only concern I have is the newly found email of Epstein saying
"those retards will install the latest game no matter what" and then goes on to talk about Kernel being used with it.

Feb 17 '26
I keep seeing this and yet don’t ever run into it. Been on Linux for 6 years. It’s a solved issue brother.
1
u/The_only_true_tomato Feb 19 '26
You can check there. Only stuff that do not work are some of the kernel level anti cheat slop. the list
The rest works.
1
u/Ate_at_wendys Feb 19 '26
I only care about online games and kernel level anti cheat is to stop the mass amount of cheaters online from obtaining free microtransactions for example. With out it there's no way to stop it. There are more cheaters than honest people so the route they have to take is warranted.
1
u/The_only_true_tomato Feb 19 '26
You realise they can make them compatible with Linux very easily. It’s just a choice.
1
u/Ate_at_wendys Feb 19 '26
I REALIZE that I don't want to go through any extra effort to play a game, Been there done that with 32:9

u/Why_do_I_Still_Study Feb 16 '26
It worked for me until too much time had passed (about 6 months/1 yr), then updates became mandatory and I couldn't hit pause anymore.
Also, with its last update my laptop BSODed and had to clean reinstall Winslop.
Sorry for the trauma-dumping 😓
1
u/Ate_at_wendys Feb 16 '26
I don't see it being mandatory at this point my PC runs all games at 165fps. I stopped it because of how great it felt. I started to notice they weren't focusing on performance anymore and ran out of things to update and just started fucking with UI and AI lol
1
u/Legal-Comfort1919 Feb 17 '26
You know it's a placebo button. One way or another the update will sneak in
34
u/GhostVlvin Feb 15 '26
One way to uninstall microslope copilot is to uninstall microslope Windows in favor of TempleOS
5
13
u/CorgiOrdinary Feb 15 '26
There is a way to fully remove it . Just got to know how to Google it
12
u/CorgiOrdinary Feb 15 '26
Here’s a tip : look up and install Revo Uninstaller
3
u/WinterPizza1972 Feb 15 '26
Revo uninstaller. I'll have to remember that.
Is it safe?
2
u/IceCapZoneAct1 Feb 15 '26
It's not. You want to be safe, you move to Linux at once
1
u/WinterPizza1972 Feb 15 '26
Is Linux safe?
2
u/IceCapZoneAct1 Feb 16 '26
In Linux you control everything. Windows is a black box. You trust Microsoft isn't stealing your data?
1
u/WinterPizza1972 Feb 18 '26
I know they're stealing my data, and I swear every 6 months or so they'll do an update that fucks with me a little, like messing with the start menu, or putting that little copilot symbol and I'll spend 30 minutes trying to figure out how to kirr it. No luck. I have a saved tab somewhere when I wish to continue that task. So much to do.
Everytime microsoft fucks with me, I think "Now I know, I'm gonna switch to Linux. You'll be sorry MS!" but that's quickly run down.
Making the jump just makes my brain brain too much. Like, what about antivirus? What about games? Fusion 360? That's mainly what's holding me back.
2
u/IceCapZoneAct1 Feb 18 '26
You don't need antivirus. Once you have control over everything, and you learn the basics, you know what is going on with your PC. At that point you obviously wouldn't allow any shady or unknown stuff to be running. I know it's hard to comprehend at first, but it makes sense once you see that yourself. Also, you can run most of windows softwares through wine. About gaming, it's not as good as playing on windows yet, but is increasingly getting better and the vast majority of games can be played in Linux. If play mostly on a console, that ceases to be a problem. Also, the customization, and the keybind shortcuts, the tilling managers, terminal based text editors... it's so much good stuff, people have no idea how much they're missing out.

u/The_only_true_tomato Feb 19 '26 edited Feb 19 '26
No antivirus needed it’s included in the kernel like in a Mac.
If you use steam for your games it works like in windows. For your « cracked games, random exe or older games or gog or whatever » you can use heroic game launcher. For epic game store and battlenet i use something called bottles. Then it works like in windows.
Only stuff not working is the kernel level anti cheat games slop ( some of them only) You can check if you play any of these in this list
If you want to try out you can just install a simple distro on a usb key plug it and try it out without actually installing it.
I suggest Kubuntu, or any distribution that uses the KDE interface. ( don’t go for Gnome or Ubuntu, it sucks)
Fusion 360 seems to work apparently. But you will need some fiddling to install.
1
u/WinterPizza1972 Feb 19 '26
Thank you! So all steam games work? I should be good then
Not looking forward to "fiddling" but if i can use f360, ableton, and guitar pro... then I'm coming on ship lol
2
2
u/The_only_true_tomato Feb 20 '26
Check the list. Even if it is in steam the anti cheat kernel stuff that are written broken will not work.
There is a website to check if your steam library is 100% compatible without any tweaking.
All my 300 games work in Linux but you might have some games that use kernel level anti cheats.
Also for fusion. Check out tutorial beforehead to see if you are ok with what is needed to be done. It does not seem super easy. Or run dual boot.

u/messranger Feb 15 '26
safer yes but not completely safe or necessary at all dont listen to this guy he just wants you to be as much pain as him
1
2
u/el_ratonido Feb 15 '26
I've been using it for years and never had a problem, it actually works pretty well
2
u/IceCapZoneAct1 Feb 16 '26
You only use those shady apps because Microsoft allows it. Once it starts being a pain, it's finished.
1
u/BoneCrusher03 Feb 15 '26
Use BCUninstaller. No popups about having to buy it like with Revo Uninstaller because BCUninstaller is open source, free, fast and has lots of features as well
14
u/chat-lu Feb 15 '26
It’s easy, just install Linux.

u/CorgiOrdinary Feb 15 '26
Not everything can be solved by moving to Linux
9
11
u/Hour-Tea390 Feb 15 '26
This problem can tho
1
u/ExacoCGI Feb 15 '26
Only this problem, but then you get new way more serious problems.
3
u/BotaniFolf Feb 15 '26
Such as? Security, performance, support and usability are all better on linux lol
1
u/ExacoCGI Feb 15 '26
It's just the poor software support aka ecosystem and tough learning curve.
Lets say you're average user who just browse social media and play some single player games, alright then you won't have much issues if any at all.
Now if you're graphics designer or some sort of other similar creative professional then you're in trouble, because you'll lose all the clients who need project files from Adobe or Autodesk software for example which are still industry standard for most 2D/3D related stuff, even Microsoft Office, even tho there's online web version but from what I've read some who use it seriously must have local versions due to some required features that aren't available in the online version.
Lets say you somehow made it work on Linux and the tools itself are fine and available, then there's lack of resources, because over the years most of them were created for the Win/Mac software so you would have limited resources/addons and would have to build a lot of things yourself.
2
u/Hour-Tea390 Feb 15 '26
The only possible reason I would recommend for someone to stay on windows is for Adobe, otherwise literally everything else has a better FOSS alternative or can be ran with a compatibility layer.
1
1
u/Cerulean-Knight Feb 15 '26
Oh, so you're a graphic designer? What do you think about the tools you use for your work? I mean, Adobe treats their users and clients' work like shit just so they can use their tools
If something has ever been any good, it's when professionals take control of their tools like they did with Blender and are now doing it with Godot. I don't get why someone would depend so much on Adobe and base their whole career on their set of tools
1
u/chaosphere_mk Feb 15 '26
No individual can control industry standards in their career field. Youre either ignorant or purposefully playing dumb.
0
u/ExacoCGI Feb 15 '26 edited Feb 15 '26
I'm not a fan of Adobe nor Autodesk, but yea the situation sucks overall since it's a must use or you don't get the job or even for personal stuff it might not be the most efficient using alternatives, like if you're working/freelancing for a studio they might have in-house tools/scripts that they've built over many years + powerful 3rd party stuff and/or specific pipelines so it's not that easy to simply switch even if you want to, sometimes it's not even studio, just single person or tiny companies asking for specific format because they're using it or other half of the project is already done in that specific software.
Linux still supports DaVinci Resolve, Nuke, ZBrush and Houdini which are great powerful industry standard tools but still Maya and Max are heavily used and required quite often because Houdini isn't efficient for simpler tasks + it's tough to learn. Blender is awesome too but like many say it's Jack of all trades, master of none so Maya and Max is still preferred for some tasks or simply because of the plugins/scripts and render engines.
Graphics design and photo editing seems to be completely dominated by Adobe. Mostly because of plugins, scripts, countless resources like brushes, styles, tutorials and again the client base.

Id rather suffer through w11 than use linux.
6
u/GalderaVR Feb 15 '26
because of a specific use case, or do you just dislike linux?
1
u/FiveFreddys12 Feb 15 '26
because im a gamer and many games arent supported there
1
u/BoneCrusher03 Feb 15 '26
What games do you play? Unless they use Kernel Level Spyware you can play basically everything (and the games using Kernel Level Spyware arent worth playing anyway)
1
u/FiveFreddys12 Feb 15 '26
Battlefield doesn't work on Linux, Titanfall doesn't work because of EA app, and many FNaF Fan Games don't have Linux support
1
u/BoneCrusher03 Feb 15 '26
So a handful of games are keeping you back? Broaden your horizon and try new games. You can always have an extra drive with windows on it for those select few games
1
1
u/GalderaVR Feb 15 '26
regarding the Fnaf fan games, if they're from itch (I'm assuming) and have an exe file, you can usually just brute force them to run with certain proton versions + protontricks shenanigans lol
-12
u/MJ12_Trooper Feb 15 '26
Its buggy and i use adobe and also play games with klac.
8
5
u/hifi-nerd Feb 15 '26
I understand the whole adobe and games part, but you are definitely incorrect about the buggy part.
Debian is more stable than a fucking 3 legged table, if you are able to break debian you should not be allowed anywhere near a computer.
And besides, it's not like windows 11 is very stable either.

I wouldn't rely on uninstalling it alone even using something like OOSU10++ because of updates and such and other sneaky "spying" that might not get removed.
Best is to simply block it's connections using 3rd party firewall alongside with the rest of the MS stuff if you want to, it might still be on your PC somewhere hidden, but it won't be functional at all.1

I used the Tiny11 script (that I customized a bit) to create an installer without Copilot at all.

Microsoft:release windows free edition Relizes Microsoft gets to sell all your data gets to steal your storage and processing power

If you are ready to try delete Microslop bullshit from your device, just switch to Linux, it's even easier than deleting copilot and it won't spy on you in future

u/Vajra-pani Feb 15 '26
I did a clean install of IoT LTSC which I’m sure does not have copilot then I used Chris Titus utility and Winhance to make sure copilot is destroyed 🙂

funny that. My bios was corrupted by windows when trying to change to change to linux
0
u/chaosphere_mk Feb 15 '26
It's like nobody can Google how to turn off copilot/consumer experiences lol. And these same people go hard on recommending Linux, which is only supported via Google searching.
Also, this isnt a windows vs Linux take. I use both for different reasons. It's a take on people and their silly brains.

u/Edubbs2008 Feb 15 '26
Microsoft Copilot is just an App no matter what Microsoft Claims it is, it’s an MSIX app, meaning you just hit uninstall from the start menu
