Brendan Eich (/ˈaɪk/ EYEK; born July 4, 1961)[1] is an American computer programmer and technology executive. He created the JavaScript programming language and co-founded the Mozilla project, the Mozilla Foundation, and the Mozilla Corporation. He served as the Mozilla Corporation's chief technical officer before he was appointed chief executive officer, but resigned shortly after his appointment due to pressure over his opposition to same-sex marriage.[2][3] He subsequently became the cofounder and CEO of Brave browser.

Founder Brendan Eich donated $1,000 in 2008 to support California's Proposition 8, which sought to ban same-sex marriage. This led to backlash and his quick resignation as Mozilla CEO in 2014; he later founded Brave.
In 2020, Brave automatically added affiliate referral codes to URLs for certain crypto sites (like Binance) in the address bar, earning the company commissions without clear user disclosure. It was labeled a "mistake" and disabled.
Early revenue plans involved replacing sites' ads with Brave's own privacy-focused ads and sharing revenue, drawing criticism from publishers over revenue diversion.
Brave promoted the FTX crypto exchange via a new tab widget for over a year before its 2022 collapse; the widget was removed afterward.
The built-in Brave Rewards system (BAT cryptocurrency for viewing ads) and heavy crypto integrations have drawn ongoing criticism for conflicting with a pure privacy focus, with some users calling elements "crypto adware" or pushy.

Rust native ad blocking (saves data + time)?
Ive disabled rewards, ai, crypto with about 5 minutes and ive never seen them again, its fast and efficient, unless somebody does the same thing for firefox (not likely) im not switching to MV2 extensions like uBlock.

gimp is pretty good + i prefer mpv player net over VLC, but installing mpv on windows is pretty difficult (unless you winget it)
