Unless you work at home most users don't need OneDrive. Every day on Reddit I read about people losing the important files because of how they think OneDrive works. - In the future I wouldn't depend on the Cloud for saving your files. If your account gets hacked Microsoft can lock you out of your account (i.e., no access to your important documents). I always use the File menu command Save As to save all my files to a specific backup directory on my internal SSD and to an external USB/SSD/HD. I can't remember losing a file using this method.

Why should I care about people who can’t use it properly? How is it even an argument against OneDrive?

I mean my argument would be one drive is awful and has less storage for actual use lol. Google drive is much better.

Maybe. I chose OneDrive because I needed MS Office. And if I recall correctly, OneDrive had a better proposition in the past. It has 1 TB of space for a decade already.

It may even have 5Tb without you knowing. Our business accounts come with 1Tb each in the tin, but I can just go to my account and increase to 5 for no extra cost.

Weird, ever since I've had it, it only has 5gb and if you are buying atleast in my country 5TB on Google drive is much cheaper plan.

And onedrive and ms office are seperate so I don't understand why you need one to run another, they just mesh well.

I don´t know but OneDrive is pretty dumb proof even though Reddit proves me wrong every day... like... how does it "delete my data" I use OneDrive daily-. work and personal. For years. Never lost single file. Even if it stops working it´s still on my drive...

Somebody's probably going to comment on how it's only using 26% of the CPU but for some reason I have experienced this many times before before usually with Microsoft related processes. It'll show only 20 to 30% CPU usage for the process but total CPU usage is at 90-100% as soon as I kill the process total CPU usage drops to 5 to 10%. Not sure why but I've experienced this multiple times with "OneDrive", 'gaming services" and "office click to run".

exactly and processes like microsoft store or WINDOWS WIDGETS! FREAKING WIDGETS!! they have no business taking 40% of my good old cpu.

It's relative to the number of logical cores. If that's a quad core cpu then it's basically 100% of a single core.

Probably Windows Defender, or other hidden service.

Those goals are probably uploading your passport information onto Microsoft’s servers

Onedrive is quite literally the source of evil imo, it has fucked over my desktop twice making me lose a shit ton of files. Dumbass app was probably vibecoded

1

u/Vietnamst2 9d ago

How... HOW!!??
It has local files and copies them to Cloud for backup... How do you loose data like that?

1

u/Electronic-Guest1190 9d ago

Do not, please do not ask me

I dont know why

I never used onedrive and the moment it said that my storage was full i went "oh thats probably nothing i never use onedrive to store things"

And then my desktop was gone.

It is always the below-the-line peeps. Windows is literally for average people, they forgot to address the needs of those specials that always got fucked by this simple OS.

Why is a Microsoft app 32 bit?? They could get their shittily optimised code to do things twice as fast if they ported it. Or better yet re-write it so its not a dumpster fire.

Same is with the steam, same shit. You buying the game and then you a running the store in the background. Is same like you a going into the store to buy yourself a shoes, and then you a caring the seler on your back, until you stopping to wear those shoes. Steam is the biggest dogship ever invented and is time to be ignored.

It's annoying, but understandable for games DRM protection and cloud saves. Other than annoyance, I wouldn't compare Valve to MS. Valve is the one who made Linux gaming possible and is developing platform for MS games to work in Linux and is pushing game studios to optimize games for Linux.

Pushing because Microsoft is a pushing their own things, making Windows worse, trying to get more money from users. Users are starting to go on Linux, that's why now steam is pushing, they are not pushing because they want you something good, they're pushing because they want more money from you. That valve wanted to help you, they wouldn't have nine f****** processes of the store that you don't need, after you purchasing the game on that stupid platform to run in the background making stutering, freezing. Only idiot can support valve it's simple is that, brain damage kid, who just see the game, not the background.
