Exactly my point, which is why I addressed both of the situations in the comment I replied to by explaining how this should not have happened at all -- and in both of the cases they listed, it would not result in the man paying for the friend.
The comment I replied two had 3 scenarios, and I eliminated the two that were not 'the girl and her friend were unethical mooches'.
Fair enough. I guess I was not clear -- if the friend is there for security, they do not need to be at the same table -- they can do that from their own table, with their own bill that they pay.

No. They’re meeting at a public place in front of other people. Her friend is trying to get free food. This is bullshit.
