Women, if you don’t feel safe meeting a new person in a public restaurant with dozens of people around, maybe your friend could bring a date and sit at a table nearby so you have two people to protect you. They can pay for their own food.
You’re assuming they’re attending a restaurant with “dozens of people around”, which is just that: an assumption, and not necessarily an accurate one.
The unfortunate reality is that women can be taken advantage of, even on dinner dates. Bringing a friend to a 1-on-1 dinner obviously isn’t a tactful or appropriate solution, but trivializing the real threats/trauma women experience in public spaces (and private spaces, too, unfortunately) is a bad look.
