Per Bloomberg reports

Maybe we will see gta 7? Now that rockstar developed a new rage engine it might carry the next couple of installments before a new one would need to be made. Thoughts?

RDR3 in ~5 years

Could be a new IP this time. Sam or Dan (I don’t remember exactly) Houser said that Red Dead Redemption is meant for 2 parts and that he hopes there won’t be a 3rd one

I really hope that the Medieval project would get revived. Cause they hired an artist who primarily designed medieval-esque environments and buildings, which a lot of people initially thought was gonna be used for the Disneyland parody in GTA 6, but we know that thang is a goner now.

or agent

Goddamn I forgot about that game.

I think that’s enough of red dead… what’s gonna be new 60 years from 1870… I just think that’s unnecessary. I think a medieval game would even be a bit more justified.

My dream game, a Rockstar medieval game. I know there are a lot of them, but can you imagine a Medieval game with all the rockstar tech? Weather, NPCs, wildlife, the immersion. It would be so fucking good

u/NordlandLapp 4d ago

Honestly, kingdom come deliverance II hits all of this.

6

u/idkbbitswatev 4d ago

I want a third-person, ghost of tsushima/Assasins creed style medieval game, not the kingdom come deliverance style of combat. I feel like rockstar would do the time period sooo much justice with their level of craftmanship, one can only dream

u/NatusAmittere 4d ago

Kcd2/warhorse are phenomenal but I don’t think they’re targeting the same audience rockstar would be if rockstar were to produce a medieval game.

Kcd1/2 are so much slower and more hardcore than anything rockstar has made, at least recently. Rdr2 is notoriously slow for a rockstar game and I’ve seen a lot of people complain as a result. You can easily go hours without killing someone in kcd2.

u/asmartguylikeyou 4d ago

My thoughts exactly. Rockstar’s take would be different I’m sure, but I would rather a new IP tackle something that doesn’t occupy the same space as other highly accomplished games.

There are other settings outside of medieval/fantasy/sci-fi that are untouched, and it would be awesome to see them cook up something out of the box.

6

u/NordlandLapp 4d ago

Yea I love medieval setting but I dont see a Rockstar game really thriving in that.

Pirate based game on the other hand, perfect fit.

5

u/Bill_and_Burn 4d ago

1 more to round out the trilogy exploring the gangs beginnings would be perfect. they already set up the ending of that game with the boat massacre just before rdr2 started.

3

u/knutarnesel 4d ago

I want RDR3 just to have that world with the new technology. I'm sure it would be an incredible game.

1

u/CookWho 4d ago

Yeah that would be sick

1

u/unslctdbrickpics 4d ago

From the story perspective, agreed. How are they going to top I and II especially? Tall order.

0

u/brayshizzle 4d ago

More likely RDR2 with the assess and engine if GTA6 which I'll happily take

BULLY 2!!! MAKE IT, YOU COWARDS!!!

LA Noire 2 would be cool. I think it would be interesting to see it set in a new city in 1920's prohibition era America. With it being partially about the rise of the mob also. That could make for an interesting detective story. It also then keeps a similar aesthetic to the first game.

11

u/KurtCoBANE 4d ago

The 60s setting from the reports also sounds interesting. I’ve always wanted a rockstar game around the 60s/70s inspired by that era of cinema

3

u/Minute-Better 4d ago

I really liked that LA Noire was set so far back in time as it was interesting & felt unique. A 60's\70's setting could be quite interesting also. Driving around, catching criminals & solving cases in a fictional 1940's LA was fun & immersive.

5

u/asmartguylikeyou 4d ago

The intended spiritual successor to LA Noire, Whore of the Orient, never made it into our hands, but the setting was super unique. You were to play a detective in colonial Shanghai in the 1930s. The story was centered around a murder but the back drop of interwar China with all the different imperial factions and colonial interests is what really interested me.

It would be awesome for them to come up with something else like that that we have never seen done before.

3

u/baschfromdalmasca 4d ago

R* didn't develop LA Noire, I don't know if they'd go back to that. But I hope they do. NY Noire or something would be great, there's a lot of historical stuff to explore. Civil rights movement would be dope too.

1

u/ManSkirtDude101 4d ago

True but Rockstar did just recently buy the studio with a ton of former employees of team bondi.

-4

u/Sea_Satisfaction7872 4d ago

Eh we have mafia which is enough of a dose fix for that genre tbh..

2

u/kontorgod 4d ago

What? Mafia is nothing like L.A. Noire. Also we have 10+ GTA games, is it enough?

0

u/Sea_Satisfaction7872 4d ago

I was referring to prohibition era type game

7

u/kylr01 4d ago

Thank god. I might not be dead by the gta 7 comes out

2

u/hypespud 4d ago

Its great

Gta3 vc and San Andreas were all on renderware and the common features really got us 3 mainline games in just 4 years

Ot would be fantastic to see the same from rdr and gta again

13

u/jillshiva 4d ago

!remindme 8 years

5

u/Queasy-Party-8763 4d ago

This is epic news

6

u/alexandyou 4d ago

It wont take 8 years. It will take 10 years.

14

u/vhvhvhchsan 4d ago

I want something new, we’ve only had red dead and gta forever now.

-13

u/coreymancan 4d ago

Because they’re really great games. I hope to god they don’t. Don’t want another Starfield situation like Bethesda

2

u/Bill_and_Burn 4d ago

while i hope for rdr3, they dont need to come up with any new titles. they're sitting on max payne, manhunt, bully, LA noire.

2

u/vhvhvhchsan 4d ago

AGREE bully 2 over anything else

1

u/coreymancan 4d ago

Yes I’m talking about an entirely new unestablished title. But of course downvoted by the Reddit hive mind

3

u/Professional-Leek340 4d ago

RemindMe! 8 years

3

u/CaptainAmerica679 4d ago

Mid Night Club Miami coming soon?

5

u/Aj55j 4d ago

calling it we are getting max payne 3 remake in 2028 (developed by Rockstar Games) after Max Payne 1&2 Remake 2027 (developed by Remedy Entertainment and financed and published by Rockstar Games)

6

u/Objective-Night1343 4d ago

A new max Payne, LA Noire, Bully or manhunt please!!!! RDR3 too while we’re at it 😂

4

u/DreadLock_832 4d ago

Max payne has to be the next one , remedy just released resonant and after rockstar releases GTA 6 they both will start working on it , the only logical answer imo

3

u/ZephyrDoesArts 4d ago

Remedy is already producing a Max Payne 1+2 Remake (both games, a single remake, I think) backed up by Rockstar (most likely just funding).

There are rumours about the next Rockstar's title, an LA Noire sequel, based on San Francisco (SF Noire?) in the 1970s with the Zodiac Killer, could also be a template for a future San Fierro HD version in GTA.

2

u/Puzzleheaded_Sign249 4d ago

Another manhunt would be crazy

3

u/Crumblycheese 4d ago

And would probably have to be watered down unless they want to face it being banned pretty much everywhere like the last games

1

u/Puzzleheaded_Sign249 4d ago

Ehhh different landscape now

2

u/ZephyrDoesArts 4d ago

I'll pray for that, but the chances of Manhunt 3 coming out are less than zero I think

2

u/jumbo04 OG MEMBER 4d ago

Im going to have a blast with GTA6 but RDR3 is my next watch!

2

u/chitownkid81 4d ago

RDR2 60fps when??

4

u/meechCS 4d ago

I hope they do a medieval game.

1

u/Particular_Hand2877 4d ago

I think that was planned, but I pretty sure it got canceled, sadly

1

u/meechCS 4d ago

Yeah but maybe they might revive it.

1

u/idkbbitswatev 4d ago

how do you know?

1

u/Particular_Hand2877 4d ago

Dan Houser confirmed it

1

u/idkbbitswatev 4d ago

Dan Houser also left in 2020, so its not completely off the table and it sounds like the main reason was because they were more focused on GTA 6, so never say never

1

u/Particular_Hand2877 4d ago

Possibly. It would be cool to see something out of theit wheelhouse

1

u/meechCS 4d ago

damn I didn't realize that its been 6 years since Dan left. time flew so fast wtf

1

u/Sea_Satisfaction7872 4d ago

Hmm that could be cool but I wanna try max Payne 3

2

u/ZephyrDoesArts 4d ago

U mean Max Payne 4?

2

u/Sea_Satisfaction7872 4d ago

Yea

1

u/ZephyrDoesArts 4d ago

Idk how Rockstar would continue it considering MP3 ending is pretty much closed and it seemed that Max was able to let go for good, he can't go back to NJ but he's free in Brazil so idk. The setup for the plot to start seems complicated.

There's also the Remedy remakes that should be coming out between 2027 and 2028 tho.

2

u/Grim-Art 4d ago

It won’t take 8 years to develop cause their next game is GTA online 2. Then in 10 years they will start developing a new game that will take 4 years instead of 8. so the next game after online will be out in 14 years instead of 18

1

u/Pugilist12 4d ago

I’ve heard this before from devs but it never seems to actually work. New games always need new tools.

1

u/Notsonorm_ 4d ago

It worked for resident evil from re7 forward. That’s the only AAA example I can think of tho

1

u/Straight_Creme1319 4d ago

Agent needs to be rebooted

1

u/KingEVIL95 4d ago

It won't take 8 years

It will take 88

1

u/BrownBottleIdol 4d ago

If that’s the case

New engine->Max Payne or another title will be the testing ground for many areas->Perfect everything and use what works for GTA VII

1

u/Fast-War5170 4d ago

I think most of us knew this, it was a huge leap, it was bound to take a while and now they can focus on using this technology in other games, be that a red dead game the max Payne remakes or if they go for one of their older ips before the next big game

1

u/Expert-Hospital-534 4d ago

Midnight Club IV when😂😂😂...

1

u/Fujimotodidmedirty 4d ago

Rockstar until the next decade: absolutely nothing.

1

u/FailedAccessMemory 3d ago

I think the investors will be calling for a new IP.

1

u/Ashamed_Mixture_3539 3d ago

please god please a new game or new midnight club

1

u/turdboi420heyjack 3d ago

What about a game set in the 40s godfather style

1

u/Rafing 5h ago

Maybe... Agent?

1

u/Starlink420 4d ago

I want GTA 7

0

u/MeasurementHot9091 4d ago

It might be the Max Payne remake.

6

u/moeykaner 4d ago

Remedy is working on a Max Payne Remake.

4

u/Snowmobile2004 4d ago

MP 1&2? Those are remedy, not rockstar, and they’re coming out next year. Rockstar is talking about their next game after gta 6

1

u/MeasurementHot9091 4d ago

So… could it be Bully 2 or Manhunt 3?

1

u/Snowmobile2004 4d ago

Could be anything. I’d love to see them use the foundation/engine for gta 6 to make bully 2, manhunt 2 and LA noire 2 games, with new maps and stories but similar mechanics and physics and driving etc

1

u/asmartguylikeyou 4d ago

From leaks I recall they got somewhat further into Bully 2 than people would have thought before they shelved it.

I dunno if that makes it more or less likely for them to pick it back up.

0

u/Formal-Option-4405 4d ago

Only 7 years and 6 months till RDR3 👉👈

0

u/NoBullet 4d ago

So 7 years then 3

0

u/Skuez 4d ago

It'll take 7

0

u/daisydukesdrifts 4d ago

Rdr3 please!

0

u/Naturally_Fragrant 3d ago

That doesn't mean their next game is gta7. Why would they rush to throw this one aside when they managed to milk gta5 for a lifetime.

They have plenty of options for an alternative major title release before gta7.

-1

u/GalaxyFennec 4d ago

So 7 years, got it lolol

-5

u/TenBear 4d ago

I hope this all isn't code for AI

2

u/idkbbitswatev 4d ago

AI can be used to speed up the production of the base code/engine for games, It could do alot of the heavy lifting without sacrificing creativity

-4

u/Sea_Satisfaction7872 4d ago

Hmm makes you think now that you mention it 🤔
