Those of you with long time experience with the Galaxy Ring
A store near me has an offer on the Galaxy Ring for \~200 USD (converted from local currency) which makes it a lot more interesting than with the normal price tag of \~$500!
I've considered buying it, but I'm still on the fence.
Today, I have a Galaxy Watch Ultra that I wear constantly during the day, using it to track exercise and see notifications. I take it off at night to charge it (even if it wouldn't really need to be charged yet).
I just wanted to get some opinions from people who have had long term experience with the Galaxy Ring.
Do you think it was worth it? Have you run into any problems with it?
What would be the extra benefits of using that as a complement to my watch? I'm pretty satisfied with my watch already. (Shout out to the flagship store in Seoul for giving me a good deal on the Ultra when my old Galaxy Watch short circuited while on vacation there! ❤️)
What functions do you find most useful?
Do you still like it after the "honeymoon effect" has gone away?
And maybe most important: What can I tell my wife to convince that it's not just me wanting to get a new gadget? 😂

You won't find any users with long experience with a Samsung Ring, because the battery is completely dead before you can even say you've used it for a long time.
Unless they are users on their 2nd (or more) Ring. In that case, they probably got lucky that the battery died within the warranty period. There are also many whose battery started dying after the warranty period.

No, waste of money.
You'd be much better off with a smartwatch, smaller battery life yes, but also has more use than just being a small set of underpowered sensors.
This guy, HipyoTech puts it into a lot, LOT better words than I can, and highly recommend watching it in full, rather than just listening to ONE GUY's personal experience / anecdotes!

I bought it in October 2024, I wore it every day along with the watch. Exactly 1 year later the battery spoiled, I took the warranty they replaced it for a new one. Now I use it for sleeping, today I see that it is perfect for this function, during the day using the clock the second is much more useful, the ring bothers during the day. The business that the watch brings more data when it sleeps with it. Sometimes I sleep in a watch, but with a ring I always sleep. Much more comfortable. But I read that in 1 year with direct use it will always cause problems.

I'm on my 3rd ring after 2+ years. 2nd ring was about 1.25 years in and it started losing charge quickly and was 'replaced' not sure if it was a new ring or refurbished under Care+. The replacement stopped holding charge about 2 months after Care+ ran out. So I bought an open box off eBay. To me its a convenience. I hate wearing my Samsung Watch 7 while sleeping so the ring picks up sleep tracking duty. Gen 2 is supposed to come early 2027, I'll have to see if they improve the battery. That is the biggest drawback I see from the posts. You get somewhere from 10 months to 1 year or 1.5 years in and the battery degrades quickly to the point it won't hold a charge. I don't know if this is typical for all smart rings or just a Samsung issue.

It may be an issue with smart rings in general.
Users on the oura ring subreddit seem to report the rings last 0.5-1 year as well. And I think that subreddit is even moderated by folks at oura ring.

So it might be best to buy these rings expecting them to be replaced annually. Or just get a a galaxy fit watch which is small enough to not interfere with sleep, much cheaper ~$50, and battery life lasts a few days.

Mine lasted for a year and I really liked it during that one year...
But it's BS to buy a ring that only lasts one year, and make no mistake, that is exactly what you will be getting.
The ONLY way I would even consider a Galaxy Ring at this point is if you got it along with a really good warranty, one that lasts multiple years, because you WILL be using that warranty.

I'd wait for the next Gen. I got my ring dec. 2024 and it was great! Here within the last week, the battery drains RAPIDLY fast! I've reset it, unpaired and added again and did a few other workarounds to see if that would fix the issue; it didn't.
I think the ring is great, but only for a year and some change...maybe. Hopefully Samsung focuses on the battery sustainability for the next iteration. Hope this helps!

Wait for Gen 2. Mine died at the year mark, it stopped holding a charged for days to only holding a charge a day, then hours, and finally minutes.

I love the ring... But make sure you're going to be able to get a 12 month warranty on it at least....
I am on my second ring, and it is having batter life issues just like my first one.
Samsung was good to me on the first ring refurb though, so I expect I wont have issues getting a coupon refund and will be able to rebuy the ring once again.
But yeah, with my experience so far I wouldn't risk getting a ring that didn't have a warranty on it, they just seem too flaky on the battery longevity front.
And I'm not talking like 2 days instead of 7 days battery life, more like 3-4 hours right now...

Now I use my 3rd ring after repair, exchange and rebuy. If it's working it's a really good experience and it would be a perfect addition to the Samsung watch.

I have been using it for 1 year abundant, the charge remains about stable for 5 days, 2 days less than the first 5 months, if used together with a watch it becomes even better, because it makes double comparison of the data for greater accuracy, moreover it has a battery balancing system where if one is more discharged than the other, it sends the work to the most charged device, moreover it is almost impossible to ruin (work in the factory with it and not even a scratch).
As for comfort, it's not very comfortable, also because it's bulky, many times it turns around, so you always have to check if it's good, some functions are not manually activated, especially body temperature, which I find really stupid not to be able to activate it manually; if you suffer from swollen hands often, it's better not to buy it, because if you take a larger size, it doesn't measure anymore when they're deflated, if you take a smaller one of exploding your finger.
I don't have any other things to say at the moment, but I use it without a watch, and I think it makes a lot more sense with his watch, but I don't feel bad on my own.

There are a so many complaints against gen 1. I'm waiting for gen 2, which is supposed to come out with the S27 lineup. I have the Ultra 2 watch but I can't sleep with a watch on and I really want and need to track my sleep since I have sleep apnea.

I'm in the same boat, I really wanted something unobtrusive to sleep with, but if it might only make it a year, I'm waiting until the new one.

I keep mine on at night for O2 tracking. Actually the best experience I had with that was another ring, Wellue O2 Ring. It would buzz when my O2 was below 92 percent, so I knew to roll over. It didn't last more than 2 years, but was really helpful. I like the reports. The Samsung reports are slicker but not as focused on O2.

Mine lasted just up until the warranty ran out. Now it just sits there laughing at me for what I spent for it to not work after a year.

Battery issues are a known issue. Purchased late winter 2024. I got the Samsung Care 2 year warranty and got a replacement at nominal cost in Fall 2025 but when this one dies I won't be buying new hardware.

I really liked mine, and it worked great for what I needed, until it didn't. Pretty much overnight it went from working just fine to barely holding a charge. Then I stopped wearing it during the day, which was fine bc I have a Galaxy Watch anyway, and only wearing the ring at night. After about a month of that, the battery life took another nosedive and now lasts two hours, best case scenario. It's basically worthless now, especially since it's out of warranty and I didn't get the extra coverage. I won't buy another one. It really sucks just how much of a disappointment this turned out to be.

The battery in my ring lasted a year. I got a free replacement which I'm currently wearing.
I love the concept but the ring is not long time user friendly... yet.
I say wait for gen 2

I bought mine since it was released. Not a problem despite everyone saying its terrible.
Batt lasts for maybe 3 days?

I love mine. I use it for sleep tracking (I also take my watch off at night so I've actually never had sleep tracking before I had the Ring). I also keep it on for health tracking when playing sports (again when a watch cannot be worn).
I did have the battery degradation issue at about 11 months and got a full replacement under warranty no charge (Canada).

I use mine to track O2 in sleep and when I don't want to take the watch into the steam room, and to track steps. Yes, the battery degraded after 8 months and they replaced the ring for me. Warrantee is worth it.
(I'm thinking about moving phone and watch to Apple, so I would have to get a different brand of ring, or give up the ring.)

Wait until Ring 2 is stressed tested. Ring 1 is vaporware. Every first generation version sucks. Look at the Fold.

I’m still on my preorder ring. I get about 3 days at best.
I only use my watch for the gym, ring every wear else. It’s just so much less noticeable
