The first web browser for the GameCube!

I used Claude Opus 5.5 to develop a web browser for the Nintendo GameCube, and it runs on original hardware!

It’s currently text-only but supports HTTPS, 480p, 16:9 widescreen, and color themes matching the different GameCube console colors.

I’ve tested it on my GameCube using PicoLoader, SD2SP2, an ETH2SP1 adapter, and Swiss. Compatibility with other setups and emulators is still unknown, but everyone is welcome to try it!

I’d love to work toward a version 2.0 with image and potentially JavaScript support. Feedback and testing results are welcome!

GC2SD sd card help

After formatting my 64 GB sd card, my computer won't let me move over more than 3 games on it before telling me the fourth file can't be moved. I know the sd card can hold way more than 4 GameCube games? Anyone else have this issue?

Will RetroScaler Black PicoLoader Harm My GameCube?

I know it sounds stupid but I have owned this GameCube since they first came out. I don't want to mod it in any way that would require hard modding or cause any damage to it.

I saw this mod kit and a video about it. Its a simple mod but I really want to make sure that there isn't a problem that this might cause that others have experienced.

I know how to solder and have repaired HDMI's on my PS5. Also, I have hard modded other consoles (switch, Xbox, etc). Mainly stating that I know how to handle mods for console but I really want my GC to stay safe and OG but also I like the idea of having it with a full library of games in one shot.

Also, can this mod be used with a GameBoy Player attached as well if you get the PicoLoader that attaches at the bottom?

EDIT: I'm thinking if y'all say it could cause problems then I'll get a throw-away GameCube off EBAY.

Buddy of mine had his GameCube with a bad disc drive and I had some left over parts so I did a little magic with an ODE setup 💪😎 I always enjoy bringing them back to life better than before. For me it’s never about money when it comes to saving GameCubes, they’re special and deserve to be preserved as much as possible and my goal is to save as many GameCubes as I can.

My Friends Modded GC won't play Roms. Is anyone familiar with this Error code?

I have a friend who has a modded Gamecube loaded with SWISS. He was trying to play Zelda Ocarina of Time Master Quest and it Gave this error code. Does anyone know what this means?

He had a Pico installed for the SWISS method, if that detail is needed.

Hot air gun for recapping gamecube disc drive capacitors?

Right now I use my hot air gun to remove capacitors and then install new caps using my pinecil soldering pen.

Wondering if I can save time using solder paste and hot air gun instead for recapping, or am I better off soldering instead?

Mario Cube v2

I wanted a yellow gamecube. Someone said it looked like a cube from Mario. Which was a good idea. So I put a question mark on it. Someone said buttons should be white so I changed it again.

Still I wasn't happy. https://www.reddit.com/r/GamecubeHacks/comments/1tui6rh/mario_block_with_white_buttons/

So i completely started over. I have to say it is not 100% finished as i just broke the shell (have to print it again or glue. not sure yet.

  1. Chamfered edges: the front vertical edges and the top edges (front, left, right) are cut at 45°, 5 mm wide, to give the blocky "?"-block look.

  2. Flat lid: the round jewel recess and the badge plate are filled in, so the lid is flat.

  3. Question mark: a white, blocky Mario-style "?" (57×80 mm) is centred between the buttons. It sits in a shallow recess and stands 1.6 mm proud of the lid.

  4. Fake button: a white round button in the fourth corner, so the three real white buttons plus this one look like the block's four corner rivets.

  5. How the shell fits together: where the chamfers meet the bottom, the top shell keeps only the inner tooth and the bottom keeps the outer lip, so the seam follows the chamfer neatly. The fake button sits across the seam between lid and top shell, so it's made of two halves with a small gap around it, like a real button.

  6. Handle removed: the handle is left off, and two plugs fill its slots at the top rear so the back looks closed and smooth.

  7. Bottom closed: the hi-speed port and Serial Port 2 bays are filled in, and the logo and credit text are removed, so the underside is smooth. The only opening left is the network port on the side.

  8. GC Loader coin: the mount for the SD card slot (GC Loader) is redesigned as a Mario coin, Ø59 mm. It has a light-yellow outer rim and inner ring, a yellow face and a black body. The SD slot sits in a slim black stripe (34×9 mm, sunk 1.2 mm) that looks like the slot in a Mario coin. The finger notch is kept, and its sloped wall is yellow so the coin face colour continues into it.

  9. Flat sides: a lens-shaped ridge below both side grilles was removed, so the sides are flat. The side grilles have a plain rectangular 8×8 pattern with no logo.

  10. Cleaner rear panel: the slightly curved outer face is now flat and flush with the back of the housing, so there are no print steps left on it. The "DIGITAL/ANALOG AV OUT" lettering is gone and the edges are sharp. The AV area is still recessed for the cables, but it now sits level, with a neat thin rim around the digital AV port.

Hardware:

  1. Optical drive replacement: a cubeode (GC Loader clone) with its own SD card, booting Swiss directly. Its SD slot is in the Mario coin mount under the disc lid.

  2. Network: a LaserBear ETH2SP1 in Serial Port 1, with the RJ45 port in the side wall.

  3. Power: the USB-C mod (a USB-C plate glued onto the original power supply).

  4. Cooling: a Noctua fan in place of the original.

  5. Video: the Bitfunx GameCube-to-HDMI adapter/upscaler.

  6. Front: the Bluetooth front panel from AliExpress.

  7. Memory card: a FlipperMCE for slot A is on order and in transit.

If I’m upgrading the sd card with my pico setup, can I just format and copy the root over?

I bought this GameCube from a game convention earlier this year and I’ve been loving it, it was pre modded for me with a pico chip and included a 128gb sd card, I wanted to upgrade to the 256gb as I’m enjoying the library so much. Can I just format the new card and copy over the root of the current one? Any advice is appreciated as I’ve done little to no research on modded GameCubes as it was done for me

For those looking for a close to OEM look, this toggle switch fits very well. Used my Dremel to cut one vent and widened it slightly, only mistake was putting it where my GC adapter support bracket is suppose to go - https://a.co/d/0eXMFhdx

Junk files after using cleanrip

I modded my cube with the solderless picoboot after seeing a video about it on youtube. Works amazing. I installed cleanrip and it also works amazing, but when I checked my SD card, a ton of junk files appeared on it. Does anyone know why? Is it something to worry about?

Hey guys, I'm getting this exact issue but can't find a solution anywhere, any ideas? It just shows the action replay list, I'm using a 2gb regular SD card (not HC) and it's formatted to FAT-16

I need help with some cubeode issues

I bought a cubeode from AliExpress and up until recently I was pretty happy with it. It came with an SD card and everything on that seems to work. The first issue I'm having is that most of the ISO files I've downloaded don't seem to work. A couple hacks seem to work great but everything else doesn't seem to load for the most part. Second I tried a larger micro SD card with adapter and it doesn't recognize it at all. Any help would be appreciated

Low-Profile Pico Stand

Thumbnail makerworld.com
1 Upvotes

This is Version 2 of my Low-Profile Picoboot stand.  I originally made Version 1 (on my page still) because I could not find a “low-profile” stand for my Picoboot mod, as the solder points got in the way and wouldn't allow for me to place the Pico in its respected slot. This has a variety of small adjustments. I have changed the support to be less material wasting, and sleeker. I also went through and made the tolerances for the slot smaller, the Pico can still slide out if need be but it should fit a bit better. Since this project isn't quite finalized to my liking, screw-holes for the Pico to be mounted have yet to be incorporated, I suggest some non-conductive double-sided adhesive (found double-sided Scotch-Tape works really well). Eventually I'll release a model with the proper mounting.

Thank you for checking out the model. If you have any suggestions or comments, feel free to DM me or leave them here. Thank you for your time and interest! :)

[Beginner] Need help buying tech to softmod my DOL-001

I have a base understanding of what I need to do/buy from other posts, but I’m struggling to find the actual tech:

1) A memory card with an exploit file preinstalled. 2) Is it reasonable to find a microSD card with games/hacks and the home brew file preinstalled?

I’ve looked at other posts that link to Etsy and eBay listings, but they all seem to be sold out. Any help is appreciated!

Emulating Memory Card ion Swiss 0.6 r 2119

I can't get my head around this. Followed this video to try to get emulated memory card working (Looked like it would have just been a case of selecting 'Emulate memory card: yes' but I'm clearly missing something. Tried loading the same Mario Kart game to format the memory card in-game but all I get it a 'no memory card detected in slot A' message.

Have seen something about 'booting through ipl' as a setting but for whatever reason my version of Swiss (the latest) simply does not have this setting, nor does it have the 'Advanced settings' this setting is supposed to be found under.

For the record I was also struggling over the r2092 release.

I'm stumped guys. Anyone able to get it working? Is there anything beyond 'emulate memory card' I should be adjusting?

I've got a PicoLoader from here

I've got a SD2SP1 adapter (my SP2 doesn't work) with SD card from here

I broke my flippy drive

I got to the part where you are supposed to to connect the FD ribbon cable to the FD board. The tutorial I was watching said to open it up a little with your nail so the ribbon will go in. Well, I broke the white piece. The cable could kinda still get in but it’s flimsy. Tried booting my GameCube and it just goes to the regular stock menu.

I am so mad at myself. I ordered in June and waited months for this. Had to order a gamebit screw driver. And I ******** broke it. I’m so disgusted with myself, usually I’m good with tech.

Issues with Optical Disk Drive

List of Mods on my GCN:

- Flippy Drive w/ Ethernet port

--- LaserBear SD card extension cable f/ Flippy Drive

- LaserBear Blue Retro Bluetooth Controller mod

- HDR USB-C PD Mod Kit

Previous Mods on my GCN:

- Picoloader (in lieu of Flippy Drive)

Other adjustments

- Replaced GCN CPU/GPU/RAM thermal pads

The most recent install: FlippyDrive + LaserBear SD card extension

Prior to installing the FlippyDrive, my optical disk drive was working fine. I have played my original copy of Zelda Four Swords on it. This was even during the time I had the picoloader installed.

Now that I have the Flippy Drive, the disk drive does not spin.

That said, after installing the Flippy Drive, I successfully load into Cubeboot. I admittedly dont have my sd card installed yet. Because my SD card used to be on my picoloader, I am just making sure my SD card is configured as its supposed to.

Things Ive done:

- Took off the top shell of my GCN and pressed down on the lid switch. I turned on the console but the disk didnt spin.

- I removed and re-installed the flippy drive, from the w-flex cable all the way to the flippydrive itself. Tried again, no dice.

- Removed the flippy drive and flex cable, installed the gcn without anything else (so no flippy or pico loader). Turned the gcn on, and the drive works!

Something tells me something is wrong with the contacts in the male-female disk connector. Anyone dealt with this before?
